  1. If I was the teacher I would expect the 50% too, you said 50% of profits well in her mind that is the total of what they sold (their profit). Since you didn't clearly state how much, I would suck it up to a lesson learnt and give her the 50%.
  2. I bet they would smoke pretty bad
  3. Thanks I'll get samples and try them both out.
  4. I was told by several people that my Bayberry isn't a true Bayberry scent, so I'm on the look out for one.. I honestly have no clue what Bayberry really smells like. I've been using NG's for years.
  5. Needed a hobby after my dad passed away so I started making candles. I started giving them as gifts and those gifts turned into orders. So about a year or less I got into the business part. I only sold a few scents to start out with then expanded, dropped products, added new ones, etc...
  6. My candle room is 16X24 complete with shelves and tables galore in my basement. If it wasn't such a mess right now I would take a pic for you. I love it especially since I started with storing my stuff in a tiny closet in a kitchen 6 years ago. Before we even started building our house we had the candle room figured out first, lol..
  7. Love the color.. Like others have said your display looks very inviting. Congrats on making some $.
  8. I think that it would depend on what products you sell.. I expect to make at least $150 per show but when I make more then it was a Great show.. I only sell tarts and warmers though. Tarts are my main seller they sell for $1 or less depending on the sale I'm offering.
  9. Some Sugar Plum Berries, Balsam & Cedar, Gingerbread, Spiced Vanilla, Spiced Cranberry, Vanilla Lavender, and Harvest..
  10. Well Aztec said that they wont be ordering any until they can find a supplier that they can order less than a container from a manufactuer. I know that candlewarmers.com has the skillets but I know I found them somewhere else, going to have to go through my favorites today on the computer because I went through every stinkin candle supplier site on here and couldn't find them other than at the above.
  11. Send her what you posted above plus the scent list, some samples and explain that those selling will get samples like you sent. I would also suggest stating the prices of the items and the percentage that they will get. A sample order form, tally sheet,if your going to bag the orders yourself or will they have to, etc... Oh and how long it will take you to deliver the items. Also I would just use the clamshells and use the portion cups as sample scents to each seller.
  12. I asked Aztec on their facebook page if they were going to restock the white enamel mugs and they aren't
  13. I've been searching too, can't find anything.. Would love to though. If I do find them I'll keep you updated. I remember seeing the iron skillets from somewhere and I think they were decently priced, gonna have to look for the site. Will post it when I find it.
  14. I use 2 different waxes. One for containers and one for melts.. It doesn't make much sense to use so many different waxes for different scents, what a waste of money. If that particular scent doesn't work in my wax then I try and find similar FO's from different suppliers or blend my own. I remember years ago when I started making melts I used my container wax and they rocked but nobody was into the clamshell tarts yet and they wanted the molded ones. I had a heck of a time constantly having to stick them in my freezer to get them out that it wasted alot of my time so I switched waxes for my tarts.
  15. I was thinking the same thing..
  16. It can be done with money, luck and patience.. lol
  17. I don't use that wax but that's really good for that amount of cubes. If my FO's don't throw for that long I don't carry them, my customers love that mine last way longer than name brand companies that usually only last for 8 hrs.. Keep testing your wax, let your tarts cure for a day, then 2, 3, and 4 and compare your results that's how you'll know how long they have to cure. Your best bet is to look up your wax in the search bar, I know that there are others that have used this wax and you might find some great info by doing that.
  18. Finishing up some candles for my craftshows coming up Candy Cane, Sugar Cookie, Cinnamon Apple, and Hot Toddy.
  19. Yes there are some things she could do to help her with her frosting issues like Paraffin, beeswax, other soy wax, having non colored candles, switching to frosted jars, etc... Glad that you pointed her here to look but sometimes you just can't help with the frosting issue and people that buy soy candles know that.
  20. Last month I was asking where to get these and now that I have the money for them I can't find them on the site, uuugghhh.. Did they stop carrying them??
  21. Yep, I miss the thread too.. Hmmm, I poured Country Apple this morning so I'll be pouring Sugar Cookie, Hot Toddy, Cinnamon, and Home Sweet Home tonight. In my Kitchen I have Cranberry Orange (Yummy), Upstairs Bathroom a new FO that I mixed (it's not as strong as it could be), Bedroom Chai Tea, and Downstairs Bathroom Red Currant (GAG)..
  22. A 4 oz. jelly jar candle isn't that big. I suggest you use a bigger jar if you want to cover a bigger area such as an 8oz or larger.
  23. I embrace them, I've seen so many come and go through out the years it doesn't bother me anymore. I do like to investigate like you did just to scope them out. No harm in that.
  24. Most of the shows that I do, do donate to charities but then there are several that keep the money to cover expenses on having it then pocket the rest. Which isn't much I suppose since most shows are less than $50 in my area.
