moniek
I am planning on having a candle open house at my house on Novemeber 19. I want a inexpensive food or "munchies" to serve. I thought about cookies and coffee. Any one with suggestions?
sawyer's moon
Cider is always nice this time of year (and makes your house smell sooo good). Also - candy corn mixed with peanuts - easy peasy.Jen
andrealh1975
Cookies and coffee sounds good. Or you could try chips and salsa and maybe get some liter sized beverages. In my area you can usually get those for .79 cents/liter. HTH
Scented
Cheese and crackers are pretty inexpensive too or maybe a veg plate with a dip.
chiptooth
Pumpkin dip with either Nilla wafers or apple slices. Recipe as follows: Pumpkin Dip 3/4 cup (8 oz.) cream cheese (1/3 less fat kind)1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)1/2 cup canned pumpkin (not pumpkin pie mix)2 tsp. maple syrup1/2 tsp. ground cinnamonPlace first 3 ingredients in a medium bowl and beat with a mixer at medium speed until well blended. Add syrup and cinnamon and beat until smooth. Cover and chill for 30 minutes.Easy and really good. I've thought about using this as icing for maybe something like angel food cake. Michi
I'm doing an open house pretty soon also, and I've done them in the past with my other craft love (painting) and always make a to die for "friendship tea" and homemade cookies, and then sell those also. For some reason I'm cringing over the thought of serving salami, cheese and crackers, I just keep thinking about people walking around my house hovering over my tables of product and raining crumbs down all over the place. LOLKeep it simple but inviting, spinach dip is always a favorite of most everyone I know and that pumpkin dip sounds yummie!!

AttachedTofive
At my party, we had 3 types of wine, fall/halloween candies, snickerdoodle cookies, flavored coffee, chips/pretzels/dip but I thought a cheeseball and crackers would have been nice but we forgot it. slow-burn
I always do a dessert that has no name, lol!You take 2 Small tubs of cool whip (8 oz size) or 1 16 oz size Then add fresh or canned fruit1 can of drained crushed pineappleNuts if you want Chopped fine1 large package of vanilla INSTANT pudding (mix with geletin then add rest of ingredients)1 large pack flavored geletin mixGenerally I will do orange jello, and canned mandarin orangesStrawberry jello with fresh strawberriesAnd whip the baby up! Cheap, simple and easy, and sweet as can be!!Ok, first I take the cool whip and put into a large bowl. Then in a smaller bowl, I take the vanilla pudding, and the flavored geletin and mix together~ DO NOT ADD ANYTHING, only the 2 powders. Once that is mixed, then I add this to the cool whip and whip real quick with the mixer. Take a can of crushed pineapple (whichever size you prefer, either alot or a little pineapple- I generally use the soup can size 12 or 16 oz) and drain well. If you are using fresh fruit, then cut that up, or if canned fruit, make sure you drain that as well. Fold these ingredients in with a spachula, and the chopped nuts if you want to add those. Wallah! You are done, and it takes about 10 minutes!!edited to add more detailed directions

Cheap, simple and easy, and sweet as can be!!Okay Heather, you need to be more specific for people who don't do much cooking Is that the small or large tubs of cool whip? I'm thinking small unless you're feeding the whole neighborhood. And when you say mix the pudding with the geletin, then add rest of the ingredients, do you mean the rest of the pudding ingredients, as in milk? Or do you mix the dry pudding with the dry geletin and the add the rest of the ingredients. I can see a lumpy mess if I don't do this right.
