About Glass Candy Thermometers... I started with them years ago but soon found out they don't all read the same. The way they are made the numbers are attached to the inner glass tube, with the red liquid in it, and are not attached very well and can move on that tube, causing the temp to be wrong. If you have more than one, check one pot of heated wax, and you will most likely find that each read differently. So I would say to ditch all the glass candy thermometers and get a digital one. The digital ones don't have a long enough metal probe and you have to hold the thermometer by hand to get a reading, but it is more accurate than the other. Also you can calibrate the digital one.
