  1. I tried many combos of oils and never found one that worked for my face. I had been using a OCM made in France, from a distributorship they had in the states, which they no longer have and there's no way I'm going to buy my facial cleanser from France I had used it for about 5 years, so then tried my own, which didn't work out, so now I'm using one from here: http://laventine.com/cleansers.asp Been using it about 1 year now and I have no problems with it, my skin never feels tight like it did when I tried to make my own. I know you'd rather make your own, but if you can't find the right combo you might try the above. I like the fact that it's water soluble, yet seems to really clean and moisturize my face.
  2. Wow, display looks great, and the labels are perfect! Did he custom make those just for you and your buns? Pretty good deal I think
  3. Beautiful!! And what a elegant presentation. I wish I had your photo skills too. You have a lot of patience, and it shows in the end product. Nice job :highfive:
  4. The best votive molds I ever got were from Missy's, I know, that doesn't help you any now. But they were aluminum. I've never been able to find a votive mold that was aluminum any where else, and I searched hard. Even had some suppliers tell me 'yes, they are aluminum', but if your magnet will stick to them, they are not aluminum. Since they are aluminum there is no rusting I always had better luck with my votives sliding out of the aluminum molds....maybe it's just the temp in my basement...but they work great.

That is just great. I wish I had your talent, I have a dear friend that would love one.
  6. Well I totally am with you on this, as I have decided to do the same. I just keep telling myself 'when the fun is gone, it's time to move on'. Who knows, maybe in 6 months we'll both be longing to make another candle . Like you said, the way the prices are and all the time it takes to continue to do this, it's just not worth it to me. I'm going to enjoy my time with my grandchildren, and I hope you enjoy your time with your family too. Good luck, I know how you must have struggled with this decision.
  7. I love it! Simple yet elegant. Not to busy, it's easy on the eyes, even these old eyes of mine. Nice description of scents and great pictures. The only thing I'd like to see is a picture of your roll on perfume. I'm a visual person, I have a hard time buying when I can't see the product.
  8. This is the water soluable paper, but I think it's only for M&P. http://www.brambleberry.com/packaging.html
  9. Carrie, I already have a free checking account......a bonus you know when you get to be an "old" person. Very good idea about the check guarantee crap, I need to look into that since I write very few checks anyway. I checked, and you're right MM, there are a few extra zero's on the savings account number, so I'm going to try to use that, hope it works. I have a few other checking accounts, but I just hate to mess with them in any way, especially linking them to paypal.
  10. Same thing happened to us. Just wanted to sell one thing on ebay and we had to select the premier account to do it. I told them I didn't want to, I just wanted to use paypal instant transfer, and I was told I couldn't do it that way, I had to upgrade to premier. Then after I did that I saw the fee that was attached from every single item I sold on the classifieds so I called them and they did let me switch back to the personal account, but said it was a one time thing. Seems most gals on here use 2 accounts, one for business and one for classified ads, etc. MissMary, just wondering if your savings is linked to your checking. Mine is, it's basically the same number, so I don't think I can use my savings like you did. Must need a separate savings account in order to make that work.
  11. deb, since you're using it in other products, therefore diluting it, are you still finding the strength is plenty to keep the bugs away. I just got a bottle and saw that it says you can use it full strength since it's got the FCO already in it. I was thinking about diluting it further (to make it last longer) but was afraid if I did it may not work as well as using it full strength. Guess I'll just give it a try full strength and see how it does on me and my grand children, just don't want anything over powering for the little ones, yet need to keep those mosquitoes away.
  12. I think they are like many suppliers. One person may think a scent is to die for while the other can't stomach it. You need to test for yourself. They have some really good oils, you just need to decide for yourself if you think they are worth the extra money.
  13. MM, I did as you suggested. I thawed them in my cool basement first. No condensation at all, they thawed just fine. Plus I'm making sure they are sent Priority and no over the weekend sitting in the PO. Thanks for all who posted. It's always nice to know others do the same thing with the same good results.
  14. Don't hesitate sending Rob an email about any questions. He will let you know the exact ones that will work for you. He and Steph are wonderful people to work with, very helpful.
  15. How many of you freeze your butters? I put my butters in the freezer, and when I need some I just chip off the amount I need and put the rest back in the freezer. This has worked very well for me, but I have decided not to do B&B any longer, so I have these butters sitting in my freezer that I'd like to sell in the classifieds. My question is, they will probably thaw getting from here to there and I don't know what that might to to the quality of them. Any ideas? Not sure of all that I have, but I'm pretty sure I have Babassu, Mango, Golden Shea, Unrefined Shea, Cocoa, and maybe a few others. TIA
  16. Anyone try the aroma beads with Lavender EO? Don't know if bugs know the difference between Lavender EO and FO but I thought it would be good to hang in the closet to keep moths and such out. EO is more expensive so I wondered if the FO would work as well, or just use less of the EO. Any thoughts?
  17. Good job Di!!!!!!! I can't tell you how many hours I searched for some info on these, I feel like a real idiot now :tiptoe:
  18. Oh yes, that is a great idea!!! I did some research on the internet about those wicks several months ago. DD was getting married on the beach of Grand Cayman, and I knew it was going to be a problem keeping the unity candle lit. I never had any luck in learning how they were made. Please post if you find out anything. Those dang things are eating me alive here too
  19. I had something like this happen to me too, and it was with the chips. I use a LOT of chips, but there was only one color I had this problem with. It was years ago, so I don't remember the details, but I'm thinking it was the fuschia, since I never used it again. I thought it was me, cause I never saw anyone post about it, and it was when I first started to make candles, so I blamed most everything that went wrong on "me" . Not positive of the wax, since I tried many, but I started with IGI 2243, so I think that's the wax I was using. Wish I had a better explanation for you.
  20. Oh, whatever you do, don't turn those boxes inside out. I actually had a supplier...can't remember who it was now...that sent me some supplies in a flat rate or priority box that was turned inside out. I reused it, thinking nothing of it, and my A-HO postmaster threatened me when he saw me use the box. He actually could see a tiny bit of white on one corner of the box and immediately assumed it was a flat rate or priority box turned inside out. I didn't try to lie about it, didn't know it was an illegal thing to do, and told him I received it that way and I could peel off my address label and show him the previous label. He didn't want to hear any excuses, but he was pretty nasty to me. So if anyone wants to do that, they better wrap in in some kraft paper to cover those corners. Most clerks probably don't really care, but I have this one who acts like every dollar lost in the USPS comes out of his pocket.
  21. Well Carrie, for some reason that just doesn't surprise me of your son I give you a pat on the back for giving him the courage to grab one of those monsters, that would be pretty hard to do, he was a brave little guy. I'm going to mention it to DD just so she has another trick to try. She said GD was really excited to see the "bee" spray but by 8:00 they'd already sprayed her room 4 times so it wasn't working very well. Can't wait to talk to her this morning to see how the night went. Thanks for the tip! And enjoy this summer weather we're having.......only hope the river banks can hold all the water.
  22. You're to funny :laugh2: But actually, it's a very good idea. :tiptoe:
  23. Hey Chris, thanks for the reply:yay: But why use Vodka when the rubbing alcohol is so much cheaper........is it just because of Vodka not having an odor like the rubbing alcohol does? If mom and dad think the odor of the RA is over powering then I guess I'll have to make the switch. I will hear in the morning how well it worked tonight I guess.
  24. I put 1 oz plain old drug store rubbing alcohol in a bottle, and added 3 oz of distilled water. Then I added 1 drop of Lavender EO. I also put a drop of color in it, but that's not what I'm worried about. It does have a bit of that rubbing alcohol "odor" to it, but the Lavender does help tame it. I just need to use something I have around the house. I'm watching grand kids and can't go out, and my 3 year old grand daughter didn't sleep at all last night. Her mom said she woke up with "the bees are getting me" to the point that she kept scratching her ear till it started to bleed to keep the bees off. They tried the spray idea, but only had water in a bottle, so it lasted a few hours and she was back up, this time with monsters. Then it was spiders. I love this warm weather, but it does bring out all the spiders, bugs and bees, and that seems to bother my GD. I made up some cute labels, one for spiders and bugs, one for bees, and one for monsters, so she can spray them all if she feels she needs to. I didn't want to use my body spray cause I don't really like the cyclo greasy feel it has, and I need something that won't stain, and dries fast, and won't grow nasties. The only worry I have is if the spray gets in her eyes, the alcohol will burn, but mom will be helping her, or maybe even doing the spraying if granddaughter doesn't want to. What do you think of my recipe, will it work okay? I have a lot of B&B supplies on hand, half of them I don't even know what they do , and I just didn't have the time to look up each ingredient to see how I could use it, so that's why I used these simple ingredients. TIA for any suggestions.
