  1. The Sugar Cookie Royale from moonworks is ridiculous By far the best Sugar Cookie I've ever smelled. I've made candles, tarts, and Room spray with it and it performs well in all 3!!
  2. What's your name? Melissa How old are you? 28 Where do you live? Southern WV How long have you been making candles/soap/whatever? 2 years How did you get started making candles/soap/whatever? I bought some candles that were made here locally, and was utterly disappointed. I could smell nothing but wax burning, and it only made it worse when my sister came over and told me my house stunk! I am a bit of a perfectionist and thought surely I could do better! So I started researching, found the local supply, went and got some wax and scent, came home and slapped some tarts together, and they too were horrible! So I researched more, went back to the candle supply, this time the owner was there, and she was kind enough to take me into their candle company workshop and show me some stuff!! Batch #2 actually made it past the trash can to the tart warmer! I kept on til I perfected my crumbles, then started trying other things. I am still most comfortable making tarts, but slowly I am learning. I do love my "job"! Are you married? Any kids? I am very happily married to my high school sweetheart, we have 4 sons, they are 14, 12, 8, and 3. If candle making isn't your primary job, what do you do? I worked for several years as a CNA. My husband went back to school, when he graduated I quit my job and have been a stay at home mom ever since! Anything else we should know? I give God the glory for all the things I have in my life. We have been through enough to know he will take care of us. My husband and I are youth leaders in our church, he is a preacher, as well as my oldest 2 sons. There is nothing in this world that gives me joy in my heart as much as telling kids about Jesus, and watching him work in their lives!
  3. My hubby said I'm as bad as Walmart! But I've got everything together except my fall fixins', which will be done as soon as my pods get here!! I'm hoping to start testing out Christmas scents this week!!
  4. I had a hard time smelling it when I first started testing, so I used the boys bedrooms as testing areas while they were gone to school. My 14 year old came home and complained that his room smelled like a bakery!! I wanted to try NG's, but I use mostly bakery scents and they wont work with their base.
  5. I ordered it from ICS, its been pretty good, but didn't knock my socks off. Scent lingers well, no sticky residue or anything. I plan on trying AH/RE next time.
  6. Mine started out as a hobby, then turned into a business venture in my sil's flower shop. Turns out the only thing she sold was my tarts, and that wasn't enough to keep her open. So she closed the shop without telling me, just came with a truck and dropped my stuff off at my house. Super sweet of her I know! Anyway, I didn't want to handle the business side of things myself, but had so much money invested in supplies and equipment, as well as a steady, yet small, customer base, so here I am!! Is it enough to support us? No, not by a long shot. But I have a husband that makes great money, and is willing to support my candle "habit". He gets just as excited as I do! I am a stay at home mom, so it is really nice to have this little release! As long as I come out $1 ahead, I'll never quit!!
  7. Amish Quilt and Sugar Cookie Royale, both super throwers for me!!
  8. I've tested at home, and so far, so good, so I'm getting ready to deliver some to my testers, lets pray I don't have to buy anyone a new couch!!
  9. Your very welcome! I didn't know until I saw them this morning, I don't think they carry them in store, or at least I've never seen them.
  10. They also have them at dollartree.com. Not sure if there is one close to you, but there is no charge for shipping if you pick them up in store.
  11. I picked a couple of these containers up at my local Dollar tree for another project, but they won't work. I told DH I would just make candles in them, but he thinks the glass would be too thin. It's no different than a Glade candle you buy in the store, what do y'all think?? http://retail.libbey.com/Products/Home-Decor/4.3-Bubble-ball
  12. I think I did, got a notice I have 3 packages at the post office!! It will be tomorrow before I can get them. What is she listed under on FB? I searched Moonworks but couldn't find any matches.
  13. Oh I should look for her on FB! I wasn't complaining about the company, I figured she got slammed, but I got notice that my package shipped on the 5th, so I'm praying that it doesn't "disappear" as other packages have...
  14. WOW!!! I would up the hostess gift just a bit, maybe put together a small basket or something, but those are some awesome sales!!
  15. That is beautiful!! I can't wait to see it cut!!
  16. Check out this website, you'll find help with a little bit of everything there. Take advantage of the printable spreadsheets, these have been a life saver for me. http://candlecauldron.com/
  17. I'm back trying to catch up after a super busy weekend, majorly disappointed I haven't received my package from Moonworks yet Has anyone else still not gotten theirs? I'll be putting together my first batch of room spray this week, also putting the finishing touches on my fall stuff, I'm so excited!! Gonna try to poor my first batch of MP soap, and I want to start getting things together for Christmas baskets. I need some suggestions!!
  18. Frosting happens, and I have been so afraid people complaining, but so far they haven't. I recently added to my candle labels "Note: 100% soy wax. Frosting and pitting occur naturally. This will not effect scent or burn performance." just in case!!
  19. Thanks guys! I found a couple recipes that look pretty promising. DH is allergic to lots of dyes, so it will be nice to make him a soap that won't itch him to death!! I already have some dyes that a friend gave me, and I'm sure some of my FO is body safe, just have to look into it, so I can make some pretty soap too!!
  20. I think I am going to buy some C-3, and just play until I find my mix! Thanks for all the tips!
  21. I wasn't really planning on selling, although if I did there is no way I could get $7 a bar either. I'm more looking to make soap for personal use, my hubby got some special soap when he was in Canada that someone had made, that was good for getting rid of the smell on your hands after a day of fishing. I'm assuming that is the same thing. I wonder if there is a recipe for this in the mp soap? I guess I'll go digging!!
