  1. Anyone know where to get the supplier dupes? I see that some of these are Slatkin/BBW.
  2. I could go in on purchasing some Gaia (EARTH dirt type now discontinued) Anyone else? How do we establish co-ops? TalTayl, I'd go in for 2-3lbs of Celestial Seas.
  3. Hey Thanks for the follow up regarding the Coconut FO. I'll place an order and see how it goes.
  4. Patchouli Classic at SOS. I buy it in Ultra grade.
  5. There's a warm sweetly-spice note in Hayride that detracts from it smelling "realistic" to me. Otherwise, I would agree. I like Hayride, as it seems to be the closest but the nutmeg/cinnamon note in it at the top kinda ruins it's usefulness in certain blends. I know why the spice-note's there, but sometimes I don't want a home-rustic hay note. I wonder if a hint of "Baby Diaper" from SOS would give me that "horsey" aroma. LOL. I think I'll try and work on this over the next couple of weeks. If it's any good I'll report my findings.
  6. Yes. I'd like both of those in fragrance oils. Heck I'd buy at least a lb each! "Horse Barn" in particular. I can't seem to find a realistic Hay fragrance.
  7. I would enjoy this fragrance very much if available.
  8. Lebermuths/Moonworks Patchoulli to me, had more of a Vetiver type smell. Not quite the aroma of earth and leaves, but more like that of raw peanuts. :lipsrseal Would you describe it as that? Patch should smell dirty, with a slight camphorous quality. The sample I received smelled more like Hazelnut or Peanut mixed with Dirt. As a patch fan, I didn't enjoy it at all.
  9. It's seems you at least have the option of purchasing fragrance oils that reflect those memories. So many of us have a comforting or emotional response from a scent that can't be bottled or purchased. It's really interesting to know that scents can elicit a past memory or vise versa. Even off-putting smells evoke memories for me; the smell of dust and car leather to name a few. 'Though I think my penultimate scent memory comes from my favorite attraction at Disney World... Pirates of the Caribbean. I recently experienced this characteristic aroma in a used books store and without warning it immediately teleported me to my "youth" riding along in that boat again "yo ho'ing" in the damp cavernous rooms permeated by the smells of what can only be described as "chlorinated mustiness". It was awesome! I went back the next day to find the culprit (thought it was the AC) but with no luck, the magical "pirates" aroma had vanished...Arrg!
  10. This is some abstract thinking right here, not really a discussion on FOs... If you could purchase any fragrance based off a memory e.g. The smell of grandma's house, the smell of grandma , an amusement park, the smell before it rains, etc...What scent would you choose? .
  11. I recently tried a Nature's Garden FO that was said to smell of Mr. Bubble. It did not IMHO. On my quest for this childhood aroma I decided to blend what I had on hand. The best results are as follows. Mr. Bubble type .50 Baby Powder .25 Violet .25 Banana + Amaretto Just figured I'd post this in case anyone else wants it.
  12. For EOs, It's pretty much only the topnote type oils that I might add. The rest I find I don't need as the synthetic fragrance oils work better. Stuff like Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Camphor, Mints, and some Herbals. To put something like VanillaX10 essential oil in a candle just seems silly to me.
  13. No, not that I'm aware of. A few drops in an FO blend is all that's needed though. Phew! That stuff stinks.
  14. Thanks for the info. Any other winners from Oregon Trail? Looks like I'll be putting an order together.
  15. Well if nothing works...you can always send it my way! Try some of these? Rosemary Orange Peppermint Leather Clean Cotton Amber Buttered Popcorn (Kidding!)
  16. Has anyone tried Fillmore's TruScent™ Coconut? Sounds promising.
  17. My reason for my needing a strong Coconut FO... was to blend it with a bunch of other FOs without it being overpowered. That being said, fig (*depending on source FO) in particular CAN help heighten the perceived smell of Coconut, in my experience. Chamomile too, if used only SLIGHTLY as a top note modifier. Overall though, the Coconut you have is the Coconut you're stuck with...and yes THEY are ALL weak! I don't no why, but I just can't find a strong one. If anyone want to try a blend to IMPROVE their Coconut (by the ounce) Try adding 8-10 drops of Chamomile FO, 15-20 drops Fig FO and 30-drops Vanilla FO and see if that helps makes the "Coconut" aroma more intense. If so, post your finding and the Coconut FO used.
  18. If all else fails, I think I might have my bottle of Imitation Coconut Flavor, from my kitchen cabinet, duped. LOL. Its very strong and I don't understand why I can't find an FO that's even 1/3 as pungent. I know there's an FO out there that fits the bill...Ugh. Peak has been mentioned a few times in past threads but I find it to be light.
  19. Anyone find a really strong one? They're all too sweet-mild to me. I'm working on a blend and need the Coconut to be the dominant fragrance.
  20. I was just thinking some Bamboo might work in this blend. Playing off the cedar and citrus...
  21. Black Pepper has an almost metallic quality that might work in my blend. Not sure on Labdanum, but Galbanum might work too. Thanks for the suggestions. I think I'll go ahead and order some Elemi (briney peppery citron) and see how that does. Oh, and thanks TallTayl for the link. Its very useful.
  22. I fear Rosemary would be too "warm" for my blend. Vetiver is definitely "bitter" but rather unpleasant to my nose. Might try some Clary Sage paired with a mild citron. Can't think of any one EO that's straight up "bitter" without other aromatic components such as floral, herbal, etc. Something like Elemi might work, which is said to smell similar to dill pickles, but I haven't any to try. I'll keep searching. Thanks OldGlory. Any others?
