  1. Tobacco, New Mown Hay, Narcissus, Helitropine, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Cedarwood, Leather, Vanilla, Neroli, Honeycomb, Cotton, Animalic Musk, Campfire/Firewood/Smoke, Rosemary, Nutmeg, Birch Tar, Oakmoss, Amber, Chocolate, Whisky, Bourbon, Bay Rum, Dirt. A musk-like boozy leather base with a hint of campfire would be the ideal scent, IMHO.
  2. Scented... I wonder if some "mango" or "peach" or "apricot" might tame your wild beast! LOL. Sounds rather nasty. I thought I had a great fragrance blend going on while mixing equal parts Cucumber Mint and Grapefruit. Blech! It was awful. I think If I add something to the middle to offset that funky cucumber note I'll really have something special.
  3. Hmm? What's the Stone candle scent?
  4. Ooh. I like "Sunbaked" but Sunbaked "What?" I'll have to think on it. Thanks everyone for the idears!
  5. It is definitely more spicy than sweet, but also still rather fresh. An almost Autumnal aroma but not "dry" like most spiced aromas. Fig's funny like that. The fig is pretty non-descript and the ginger has a slightly lemony aspect so I like the idea of "Sunrise" or something to that affect.
  6. Ok, so I've now tested my latest scent creation. It's a mix of Fig, Green Tea, and Ginger. It's has more Fig FO than anything else, but because of the Tea and Ginger...it doesn't smell like Fig... so I'm at a loss on what to call it. Any ideas for a name? It smells amazing!
  7. Does anyone have a good source or supplier for PEG 40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil? And possibly a little off topic for this forum, also looking for Butylene Glycol. Any soaper suppliers out there on the interwebs that carry these additives? Thanks in advance to whomever points me in the right direction.
  8. Unfortunately I can only do either, not both at the same time. Which do you think would be the better option, fixed flat prices per range or percentage per range?
  9. Hey all I'm working on a new website and was wondering how I should set up shipping rules. Based on the websystem I'm using...I am forced to set up my shipping rules per cart total instead of by individual weight...Meaning if the cart total = X amount the shipping is X amount or a percentage of the cart total. I know this is kinda strange but that's the only option the system currently allows for, though they may offer something else in the future. Anyway... My question is; based on the hypothetical totals below (shown as a range) what would you expect to be a fair and reasonable shipping cost (or percentage) for each range: $1 to $8 = $9 to $16 = $17 to $30 = $31 to $40 = $41 to $60 = $61 to $76 = $77 to $99 = $99 to $200 = $201 to $460 = $461 to $700 = $701 to $999 = $1000 to $10000 = Thank you for your help
  10. It looks like Gemlite has a Grape and Peanut Butter combo set! Not having tried it, I'd assume it smells like Grape Jelly based on the pairing. Anyone try it?
  11. I've voted for Grass. Most Mac Apple FOs have a little bit of FCGrass in them already. My personal favorite for brightening an Apple FO is to use a little bit of Lemongrass. I too second a mint type being a good option. I tend to shy away from the more traditional spiced apple FOs and am more inclined to recommend herbal or earthy apple fragrances. Apple + Cilantro is also really good.
  12. There was someone on here a while ago posting about looking for a Pistachio FO. The one at Gemlite is good! It's been mentioned here that Gemlite went OOB but as far as I can tell that isn't the case. Their website still works.
  13. What did you figure out? I've been experimenting with this one for a while now. Most rain FOs just don't cut it IMO. What did you do? I was thinking a blend of Dirt, Clary Sage, And Camphor... but come to think of it Gaia might work?
  14. ChrisR, Supposedly one "can" order by the #...but at the cost of an unknown "surcharge." I wonder what their average price is per # ? Based on their scent list...I can probably order 90-100% of the oils I need. Back when it was Royal; what were you paying? SIDE NOTE: I thought Royal Aromatics changed their name to Trilogy or something.
  15. I know right!? Their scent list is nucking futs! Here's a partial list: http://alphaaromatics.com/fragrance-list.html ...I just want to throw my money at the computer screen. They are FOs.
  16. This is an old thread but I too am interested. Does anyone order from Alpha? If so, how are their oils and pricing? http://alphaaromatics.com/ Their scent library has TONS of fragrances. Anyone use these guys?
  17. Sho nuf! :undecided Wow, didn't think about that. I guess some Myrtle EO or some of Lily of Valley FO could work if you do want the blend to be somewhat floral. I'm not partial to heavy handed doses of flowers in my marine scents though... The main Ocean formula is pretty true. Anyone want to try it out and report your findings? Something about the Black Tea blended with the fishy-melon aspect in SOS's "Fishing Pier" really makes for a good ocean scent, IMHO.
  18. Try ordering a few sniffee samples before committing to a full size order. Their FOs are hit and miss (like all suppliers) With more than 10,000 scents you're bound to find some that downright STINK. When ordering I'd recommend selecting the oils in either Ultra or Extreme concentration. SOS grade is very weak. I only order SOS grade for common scents like Vanilla, Banana, etc. Having tried only Fireside, from your FO "shopping list" above; I can't really help you my own reviews, but some of the FOs I do purchase from them have all been good, but other's on here don't share my opinion. Let us know how it goes. Some of my favorites from SOS, are the "novelty-types" mainly because other suppliers don't carry them. Have fun!
  19. So here's the formula for a Truer Ocean scent (if anyone what's to try it) It's a 4 parts formula. 67% "Kelp" + "Fishing Pier" (from SOS) 33% Black Tea + Ahoy Matey (from Daystar) For artistic nuances, try: 2-5 drops eucalyptus EO per OZ batch for a brisk smelling sea 5-10 drops Neroli EO per oz batch for a beachy smelling sea 5 drops Black Pepper EO per oz batch for metallic-cologne smelling sea 5-10 drops Lilly of the Valley EO per oz batch for floral smelling sea
  20. Yeah. SOS http://www.saveonscents.com/product_info.php/products_id/2169 The fragrance is as good, if not better than the reviews state. And for a Waffles type, http://www.saveonscents.com/product_reviews.php/products_id/203710 (this is my own fragrance blend designed using SOS's custom scent duplication service)
  21. They don't provide descriptions. As for their FOs, like any supplier, they're hit and miss. I won't say weak, but some are duds. I only order more obscure FOs from them, which seem to be rather good. As for your basic FOs, homey baked types, and florals...I'd look elsewhere. I did like their Green Apple though. It was tart without being candy-like.
  22. Green Apple from CandleChem is good.
  23. They no longer dupe for Free...but of the dupes I've had duped, only one needed revision and it was fixed and re-duped. Dupe! LOL. Their service is pretty good. Not a good as it was (at the low price of...FREE) but it's still not bad. I'd call them first and ask if they have a dupe already. With an inventory of about 3000 fragrances there's 'bound to be something similar if not an exact match. Dupe.
