  1. What wax are you working with Goldie? Don’t let fear of customers sense of smell deter you...everyone smells differently once you get a perfect burn and you can smell your candles run with it and your product will speak for itself - it’s when people just run on throw alone or not testing new lots with soy or new fragrance bottles not realizing the product they put out there is burning crappy or finding months down the road the burn is even crappier that problems arise for yourself and the people you sell to
  2. A baseline in naked wax is how it burns with zero variables added to it other than the wick needed to burn said wax If you suddenly start to have problems with your burn in your already made candles like sooting, mushrooms, burning too hot, won’t burn hardly at all, tunneling, cavities or no throw how would you be able to determine what that problem could be if you don’t have a “baseline” of how your wax burns naked GB waxes are not what they used to be, they are completely different now so if your making your 464 candles based off what “used” to be and just adjusting wick sizes for different jars your going to have problems - I used 415 for probably 7- 8 years and what was tried and true for many years does not work anymore - CD wicks in this wax are horrible now, the burn is disgusting and in some cases down right dangerous, wicking down helped but it was still “off” Testing that wax naked showed me CD are not the wicks for this wax Anymore and it showed me just how different this wax burns now without adding variables to it - had I not tested the wax naked I would of chalked it up to the fragrance or the jar or whatever else and continued on without u understanding that it was the wax itself that changed I’m trying to explain this as simply as possible and I understand where your coming from in your thinking because I did it myself for years but here is what changed my way of thinking - right before I noticed something was off with 415 I had made a bunch of jars to put out for sale, now I always make a tester jar of every batch of candles I make - I learned this from Stella who used to be a regular on this forum, I fell behind in burning my test jars and they got shelved - I thought these candles were okay in thinking the newest lot of wax I received was the problem because I could physically see a difference in the wax well I was wrong because the lot before had issues when I started burning the testers to see what the heck was going on the wicks (CD) grew like those fireworks for kids, the little black disks after lighting grow into thick snakes - that’s what my wicks looked like with super deep melt pools on the first burn and hot jars and soot - I never had those problems before and the throw wasn’t there- Every one of those fragrances were the same bottles I had from before so I knew it wasn’t the fragrance - nothing changed there, I don’t use dye so that couldn’t be a issue which told me for sure it was a change in the wax itself and testing the wax naked proved to me that’s what it was long story short 415 burns completely different now - I hate the wax and refuse to sell it anymore - I can’t “fix” it even though changing wick series helped and using different additives helped - it still was to unstable for my comfort - the longer it cured the worse it got which before it was longer the cure the better it got Do yourself a favor and just throw some straight 464 in a jar or tin and burn it to see how it performs “as is” I assume you test each fragrance before putting it out for sale....so if something is off when you test it you will know it’s not your wax within the same lot, that maybe the fragrance is the culprit and new bottles of fragrance now we have to be careful and test with all the reformulations and not all suppliers disclosing that nothing is easy Making candles anymore and I never used to buy in bulk but I am now with my waxes so I don’t have to do this all the time - the more cases with the same lot number the better
  3. Third burn eco and HTP were the best overall in this pan test for my jar creating the least carbon although still sooty, lx could be a potential but I way I under shot that size Adding fragrance and dye will change things for sure look how much carbon cd created, and that’s a recommended wick for this wax I believe
  4. Second burn you can kind of start to see here how it burns down making a deep melt pool, the Cd 10 especially and this was the point I started seeing the black soot stacks this wax is notorious for
  5. Ihaving been a soy girl for 10 plus years this was very foreign to me working with coconut wax - this test was done December 2017, I have learned so much since then with this wax but it’s a starting point to be able to see how it behaves I will redo this test down the road with my new Gained knowledge and different wick choices
  6. Okay so here goes first post on candles and supplies coconut beads No fragrance No dye I heated to 185 and immediately poured into a tin tray (I do not recommend this unless you permanently affix the wick because wick stickums do not work on tin and hot wax - had a heck of a time securing them after they all floated away on me) I let the pan cure for 5 days and the wicks I chose were based off results I wanted to see for a 8 ounce square mason jar 3” diameter Love the ease of this wax being able to pour hot and it set up so smooth with no frost, cracks or cosmetic issues The texture of this wax is very appealing in my opinion
  7. I agree - love love the beads but alone they are something nightmares are made of 😂
  8. Campfire Smokes are theeeee worst in my experience even the smallest percentage will ruin a flame and just when you think you got it it Peters out on you with no warning - melts not a problem but most candles take a literal torch to burn these type of fo patchouli is a tough one also
  9. I did them and have the documentation just never got around to getting posted here after the 444 test 🙈 I will sort through the pictures and notes and post it when things slow down for me
  10. I have called them a couple times and have been given totally different answers 😂 I was told none of their cocos contain beeswax at C and S....go figure but thanks for clearing up the confusion on 83 I didn’t realize there was slab form and “bead” form
  11. Hi Laura I did read your post above but I’m still so confused according to your list Calcandle and accublend show what’s supposed to be 83 as slabs and northwoods and candles and supplies show it as “beads” so are they same? I never tried any coconuts other than candles and supplies to know the differences my coconut slab from there is stickered as coco 83....they told me the beads was 83 so I’m a little lost the slab has a odor more so than the beads to me in the cured candle and takes forever to cure in a candle to get any throw I love the beads so far.....still blending and testing wicks but I’m almost there and it seems to be consistent which is a huge plus over the straight soy alone imo @Kerven I see the same with the melt pool- it can get way deep to get great throw with this wax and then it can soot like crazy - the balancing act is very tricky
  12. Coco 83 is the beads right? I am still so confused on what is what and mainly because the first coconut I ever ordered was candle and supplies coconut container slab and that has a sticker right on it stating coco83 when I callled them to distinguish the difference after ordering the beads they told me the beads was 83 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️ Sooooo of your talking the beads like candles and supplies has yes it reaks like a deep fryer out of the box and even melting but I do not detect any of that when burning it with fragrance oil ct I do not either.... now I was told that was coconut soy veggie (probably meaning palm) no paraffin directly from them and there was zero mention of beeswax in either of the coconuts so confused 🙈
  13. Lol- sorry I had a lunch date with my mom but yes I will go cut a 3” square and see if it fits I got these at candlesoylutions and that is the jar and lids - the lid just sets on top it doesn’t screw on I will have to check the shipping to you and will count how many cases I have exactly- thinking 6 for sure beautiful jar but I am so not into double wicking and they are rather large for what room I have to work with to display
  14. Very nice label Trapp! I have several cases of the 16 ounce apothecary jar with the black handle lids I’m going to sell off cheap if your interested....you may have to flip the label horizontally but it’s an idea if your interested
  15. I’m down for all of them 🙊😂 Black salt and cypress is beautiful - guava mojito is amazing, I too am having to wick up They have so many great oils 👏👏
  16. 415 is ruined and 444 is ridiculous to work with - that wax craters and cracks like none I’ve ever seen I have used everything possible to add to it and it just doesn’t work - great ht with 444 but those cracks and sink holes are not something I will put out for purchase and you have to look real hard to see them a lot of the time 415 lost its throw imo- I switched wicks wicked down added different additives and it’s just not the same - I could get by using it still wicking down but I’m not satisfied with it at all in comparison to what it used to be 464 I can’t help you there I personally dislike that wax and haven’t touched it in many years before the problems but it’s GB so I think it’s safe to say it’s not the same anymore either look up all the threads on this....you will see what a nightmare it has become FYI....Midwest is a okay soy - I found it needs an insane cure time and that stuff is rock hard making wicking a little challenging but I did see more consistency in that wax as opposed to GB
  17. Which ones did you get from Wsp? I have some of the best luck with their oils in a variety of waxes for me all the flaming I ordered are duds....I should of known better to only get a couple and see before ordering a dozen 😂
  18. I am not super experienced in glass glow but I can tell you this.... what a nice change from soy! This stuff is amazing to work with and not having to wait for cool pour temperatures is fabulous- the flip took me a few times to know exactly when to flip but that is how we learn....making mistakes that include palm wax leakage all over the place- LOL I use CSN and RRD wicks, never tried the Eco with it but with palm I never let it cure more than 48 hours before lighting it up, I have not noticed any significant burn changes either unlike the soy waxes Candybee is a palm expert so hopefully she chimes in for some tips and you can search some of her threads for some invaluable advice- JCcandle is also a palm user I believe with extensive knowledge
  19. It feels like your going through a divorce because you are going through a divorce...... been there and I can totally relate, it is a very devastating feeling Starting over is scary but it will be so rewarding for you- take this opportunity to use your vision of what you want the business to be and run with it. You have no limitations now, as scared as you are right now once you start testing your new product and work on your new branding you will start to feel a sense of closure and excitement in your new venture- you got this!
  20. I agree - it’s a totally horrible site with very few offerings geared only to a select obviously small audience and I can’t even see a contact us link..... yes I thought about it 😂 They will crash and burn soon enough, chin up Trapp and carry on Oh and I would let your supplier know that was totally unacceptable and nobody but yourself is to have access to your information- they obviously know you being local so they can’t use they told them they were there to pick up for you....a phone call to you could of headed that one right off
  21. Maybe I missed this part but how do you know they have the exact same stuff as you from this supplier if you did not divulge that information to them? Did the supplier tell you it was the same stuff Creeps....I would jump start talking to your accounts and letting them know what these people are up to and how despicable and deceitful they are because you know likely the next step in the game is to ruin your name in attempt to get your accounts
  22. Don’t do it- don’t answer a single question ....they are up to no good I would simply tell them if they can afford to buy your supplies they can afford to give you a deposit for their order- plain and simple your product and sources are none of their business and you won’t share that information -period If they don’t want to do business with you then oh well- any information you give them other than the wax type of candle your selling will bite you in the ass Those are not normal inquiry questions at all
  23. I somewhat kept myself under control I ordered more of the ones I tried from the previous sale agave nectar pumpkin oud and then threw in some new ones Burmese wood black salt and cypress Guava mojito bourboned tobacco Orange guava Cardamom true sugar
  24. Eco 12 doesn’t sound unreasonable for that jar being wide mouth but 11% FO is crazy high even for soy I don’t know how long you have been doing this or realize soy has undergone significant changes and most are needing to be wicked smaller now as a result and eco is about the hottest burning series out there So maybe try a 10 recall all your candles and Start over is my advice back your FO down - 1 ounce per pound is roughly 6% but doesn’t always work in soy you may need 1.5 ounces per pound which is roughly 9% and you shouldn’t need more than that at all start with eco 10’and go from there retesting all your scents it could be contaminated oil if it’s all the same fragrance with the issue but still imo you need to back down the fo load and try a wick size down this likely sounds to me like a cavern issue - 444 is notorious for creating caverns under the surface - you very well may have hit a big air pocket I take no chances with this wax and poke relief holes doing a second pour And some lots are worse than others I have found
  25. Zero experience with gel wax but I would be hesitant to keep burning that and contact the supplier you got it from for advice on how this happened with no fragrance oil added or embeds at the surface
