  1. Similar to Talltayl the biggest issue for me was jar limitations and “save the rainforest” people around my area - a few times, especially around the holidays it was hard to get but I think a couple more suppliers picked it up if I’m not mistaken which helps I love palm personally and do make them for myself in the 16 ounce colored jars with no dye, I have had pretty good luck with throw with both CSN and RRD wicks - the RRD are amazing in palm pillars and I get even better throw with those than I do the jars but they are directional wicks so if your using a spool you have to of had your coffee and pay attention (ask me how I know) if your ever in need of CSN 11 let me know I have thousands I purchased direct because CS did not carry that size Have fun with it and somewhere in here is a thread from Candybee who uses palm on the flip method to prevent the air pockets that its notorious for...that was another issue I had mainly out of limited experience with the wax and that can cause some serious wick flares which can get very scary
  2. Yes pure fragrance oils - they have the original moonworks but I guess not that one - I can email her and ask fragrance buddy did a lot of dupes off samples I sent in before pfo was carrying them and they were decent - But I just checked and they don’t have it either and wow they downsized how many of them they carry now - lavender sage is gone - sugar cookie royale is gone I will have to see if I find a difference in the Cs new clean version
  3. So very very true 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🙃🙃- baffling
  4. What drama with the tumblers??? I ordered the clear ones not that long ago and actually started to like that jar I ordered a couple fragrances I love from them but have yet to put them in anything....so I must be prepared for them to mot be the same huh? I have been weeding them out of my supply chain after the soy fiasco years ago with 415 and their insistence nothing changed when it most definitely did I live their mistletoe but if I remember right Moonworks pinion pine was the same thing so I guess I need to see if pfo carries it 🤷‍♀️ this is all getting so old and exhausting, can’t rely on anything anymore
  5. Well....I am still going up in sizes to see if the throw improves, so far not much - the flame is beautiful in coconut blends and no carbon or soot - reviews are consistent that the wicking chart is way off and you need to go way up in size They remind me of LX with a thicker coating, being so new with only 1 supplier I’m not totally trusting yet - but I do have to give them kudos for the marketing strategy to get the sample pack - with the many supply changes, people including myself, were hot to jump on it hoping for the miracle cure in coconut I will post an update to see if I accomplish decent throw and maintain the nice burn Depending on your blend they may work for you - they have not been dirty at all as far as throwing soot, and the flame stays pretty low like an aromalite wick I’m curious how these would perform in paraffin but I don’t use paraffin to find out 🤷‍♀️
  6. Yes please let’s talk about this 🥺😣 FB candle groups are terrifying me with all the posts of broken jars customer are sending to these makers ....anywhere from a scorched dresser to full blown _blown up jars black as black can be to the point I thought some were colored black jars I am seeing zero accountability on these chandlers part or the rest of the group participating in the discussion ...it’s the consumers fault - always It makes me mad, it makes me sad. These people could literally kill someone and they don’t even think about that, it’s always they didn’t- they didn’t- they didn’t I haven’t been selling candles as of late but my process always was after I test burn and power burn each lot I make I log it with the date, what it is with each lot of wax-wick-fragrance and jar and assign it a number- that number goes on the bottom of the jar on the warning label and then that number went on the receipt with contact information from the customer - after seeing these pictures people are posting lately I now think that’s not enough Accidents can happen so I’m thinking that number needs to be somewhere else on the jar or even under the lid in case it’s scorched beyond reading
  7. I would try wholesale supplies plus - many versions to choose from and they are usually on point and consistent with throwing very well in candles (most of them and I use a lot) I love autumn lodge- and even though it says nothing about tobacco in the description to me it smells like pipe tobacco hope that helps some Pure fragrance oils at one time had a pops pipe I think it was and that was good also but I haven’t shopped there in years to know if it’s still available
  8. Here you go calypso is a 42 in coconut container slab from candles and supplies with additional soy added mason jar is a 39 with coconut container slab by itself
  9. I stuck a 42 in a 3” jar based off their recommendations with the coconut container slab from candles and supplies blended with some soy and I will say the burn is beautiful.....the throw is lacking though I am going to go up and down in size and see if it makes a difference I will be trying them in coco apricot tonight as well and just because the Easy beads coconut even though it’s just gone now and not coming back 🤬
  10. Coco apricot wax I believe has soy In it and paraffin along with the coco and apricot and possibly even beeswax or they just added the beeswax themselves making it really only 2 waxes that’s my guess anyways and yes coco apricot is a very nice wax with a very nice price tag to go with it I personally would sell that size candle 65-70
  11. It’s been awhile since I have read and kept up with what coconut is what....is northwoods coco supposed to be the easy beads coconut that candles and supplies sell? regardless - my opinion with coconut (I have used 4 kinds) cannot handle an eco that large in a tin - that is way over wicked as TT stated try going down to a 4 or a 6.....seriously that small and see what happens and go from there too large will make it throw like the dickens at first BUT the wax is so soft it melts way too fast causing way too deep of a melt pool and it just can’t consume correctly to balance burn and throw now what concerns me is you saying this new batch is nothing like the last one.....your using the same size wick and fragrance with this as well? I haven’t bought new coco since they were all out of stock way back when, I had several cases stocked up so I’m a little worried I am going to see the same thing 🤦‍♀️
  12. If everything else about your candle is good I wouldn’t worry about wet spots....I used to be the same way but no matter the technique they always come back in temp changes at some point unless your using a wax that really really sticks with excellent adhesion I don’t look at that picture and think anything of the aesthetics - I think they look great 🤷‍♀️ have you seen most all commercial jars out there- they are full of wet spots - the ones that are ugly to me are clear jars with colored wax the only other suggestion I have that I haven’t seen is to make sure you clean your jars really good with alcohol - that helped some for me but I’m so over that now - I finally found a wax combo that works in all aspects for me so a few wet spots I don’t even look at it 😂
  13. I agree and don’t understand it myself just based off the results I got wick testing several coconuts ..... large wicks and coco do not play nice and honestly coconit is just so much softer in general I have never had a tunneling problem unless I had air pockets mixing it with other waxes
  14. 😂😂yes I do use a old stand up freezer- thought I was crazy for doing so but it works! We used to buy half cows and got a big stand up freezer that happened to be plugged in down in the utility room of basement where I make the candles with a commercial exhaust system as well - when we were going to sell the freezer now that the kiddos are off on their own and no reason or need to buy that much meat I thought to myself why sell for a couple hundred - and I just started stuffing my oils in there a few busted and let me tell you when you open the door it’s extreme sensory overload despite the cleanup and cleaner products I used and I always wipe the bottles after use but man do those things let off scent despite the caps being on tight believe it or not it’s full 🙈 so the ones I can’t fit I have in plastic storage container drawers and that helps also - you don’t smell fragrance walking in there until you open the freezer or pull open a drawer my suggestion would be to purchase an old refrigerator or freezer if you have room to keep them in - the garage is an option but depending on where you live I would be concerned about freezing if it’s not heated or tight storage bins would work as well....better than an open shelf
  15. Yes - this I always ran into this years ago with 135 and 464 waxes - rust rust rust everytime I believe they came from CS but as of late in trying them again I haven’t seen it at all - got them at specialty this time You don’t wash them do you? I didn’t think back then I did but was told water would be the reason 🤷‍♀️ But like I said I haven’t seen it at all again since and as sorry as I am it happened to you, I’m kinda glad I wasn’t crazy 😂
  16. I ordered direct from the manufacturer- precision wick and the minimum was 5000 many of my containers were in between a 9 and 12 and despite candlescience saying they didn’t see much difference fro the 11 and 12, I have so if your ever needing any let me know - they were a great price for that many 🤷‍♀️
  17. If you need any 11’s let me know - I have 5000 😂
  18. I have not used that fo yet, have a Sample and good to know it’s got a fuel potential but for my problem citrus ones I add fragrance more like 150 to 160 but that doesn’t mean your range won’t work what wax are you using? I only have experience with soy, coconut, palm and Clarus parasoy and I will say that the parasoy is less prone to getting a fuel smell than soy is - I don’t think I’ve used a citrus in palm yet
  19. You could also try just double wicking with a htp 52 sometimes soot can be from inefficient fuel because of being too small, it’s not always because of being too large- sometimes it just needs a little bump up
  20. Adding at a lower temp helps as does using a lower percentage but some citrus there just is no helping I have found a touch of vanilla also helps to a certain degree another thing I have found in soy is cure - fragrance I thought was a total bomb because of the fuel notes after curing several more weeks it disappeared 🤷‍♀️
  21. Oregon trails that’s it - bugg of and they are still in business
  22. Oh and just for added information .....cs cypress bayberry is a great spider killer 😂 I was at our cabin a couple of weeks ago and the basement is damp with the dehumidifier not set up to drain constant and well I have an infestation of huge nasty black spiders - in desperation I had that oil there as I’m slowly setting up candle shop there splitting up my stuff at home so I can make stuff while there and so I mixed it with water and shook it up really Good and sprayed the crap out of the doorwall sill and all around the ground trim of the entire basement- I was in spider hell seeing them all scrambling 😩😫🕷🕸 went back a week later and still smelled it quite strongly and did not see any spiders inside - had to respray the outside and saw a few run and I was beating them down but it worked very well and I would rather use than then a pesticide 👍
  23. They do work I have made CS Citronella candles in galvanized buckets to keep on the deck and what also worked really well for me is making incense with bugg off from I can’t remember the supplier(think they may be oob and it wasn’t bulk apothecary) but citronella would work also and I light these and stick them in jars with sand or even in potted plants and it seems to keep the bugs at bay - gnats and mosquitoes
  24. I see it as You don’t have much choice and neither does your wholesale accounts - when suppliers raise prices we have to raise prices - that’s the cycle of business, there is no point in doing any of this imo if we keep trying to absorb price increase in fear of passing it down to our customers- wholesale or retail If everyone would do this right along beside each other the consumers are likely to not bat an eye because they don’t have a Choice if they want our products Sure you can buy cheaper fragrance but likely it will “be” cheaper and your customers may notice that difference enough to hurt business as well I understand our craft is a want vs. a need and it’s a tougher sell in this market and very very competitive mainly due to the fact many people just price to just make a sale or to support a hobby but in owning multiple service businesses I have a different outlook on this whole thing: When our fuel supplier raises prices more than a few cents per gallon because the barrel increase we cannot afford to absorb that cost, we have to either 1) raise our prices across the board or 2) implement a fuel surcharge if it’s projected to be temporary - we go through around 40k a month in fuel this time of year running all our trucks and equipment an increase of a dollar or more per gallon would kill us - we have to pass it down we recently increased our price on a septic tank clean, the fees went up where we have to dispose of the waste, the slight increase in fuel, the increase in our insurance premium every year, the increase in our workman’s comp and of course the increase in the technicians wage, the breakdowns and repairs and....and....and.... we were not making enough money to run that circus - the competition did not increase their prices and sure we lost some business from the people that only want the cheapest they can get and the competition thought they were “one up on us” until they figured out they were working twice as hard and increasing the wear and tear on their trucks ten fold resulting in more repair bills and break downs....and we were actually making more money doing less work - and those said competition are now at the same price point we are - and again I know it’s different in respect that people “have” to clean their septic so they have to pay the increase vs. people “wanting” a nice smelling candle or bar of soap but the principal is the same in theory, once everyone realizes they need to charge more for their products due to price Increases passed down to us, consumers will likely pay With our excavating and mulch business, We don’t pay on pieces of equipment monthly that cost 100-300k each to absorb any of costs Trickled down to us....if gravel goes up so does our price, if pipe or colorant or anything at all for that matter goes up, so does our price and the people that use credit cards to pay on a septic repairs for several thousands dollars, we charge them the credit card fees - you want your points your paying for them and people are happy to, they can always write a check if not Sure it’s competitive out there and there will always be the one man show operating without the proper licenses or the company that thinks they being smart pricing way cheaper but in the end when all is said and done we have to work smarter not harder, less jobs for more or even the same amount of money is a savings in so many ways in my eyes 🤑 Our fragrance suppliers are obviously getting nailed with price increases and this whole tariff thing is having a big impact but we really can’t blame them for having to keep their business rolling, they can’t absorb the costs and still profit either 🤷‍♀️💁‍♀️🤗 that’s my 2 cents worth anyway, it certainly sucks to have to pay more - absolutely sucks but you may be surprised at your wholesalers reaction, surely they are seeing it already with many items they carry
