  1. I don't have an answer for you, but, that may have been the issue OBI had when they were OOS for so long. I emailed them and was told they had gotten an order in but had to send them back for some reason. I can't remember what the reasoning was. I'd have to go back and find the email. Maybe some of the faulty dimmers got missed when they sent them back or possibly some were snuck in when they got them last order and they didn't catch it. Let us know what you find out since so many of us buy OBI warmers.
  2. I thought I was the only one! lol I too was trying to figure out how they could raise their price by a quarter or two to account for the shipping (to the customer). I thought they must have one helluva carrier if they can ship for just a quarter or two. Boy I had a huge DUH moment there!!
  3. I guess I was reading the original question wrong. I thought the OP was asking about adding shipping charges into the total cost the customer pays (so there would not be any shipping charges added at checkout). In a way like WSP does but without the outrageous rear end reaming. I like Candybee have the shipping I paid for all my products added into the cost of my products. I was curious as to how any of you come to those type of shipping charges, if any of you do that. Sorry for the confusion.
  4. I've not used the slab's, but, I would think the supplier would have atleast put it in a bag of some sort to keep it from getting the dirty crud on it. Kinda makes you wonder how they store these slabs. Are they just laying around the warehouse unpackaged or did they actually remove the packaging before putting it in the box for shipping? Why on earth would they remove the packaging when they shipped it? How long was this slab sitting unpackaged in a warehouse collecting dirt, dust, etc. I think I'd contact the supplier on this one.
  5. Very nice!! Good luck, hope you make a killing!!
  6. Good question. I'll be sure to keep up on this thread for responses. I am trying to figure out all this shipping stuff right now and it's just giving me headaches.
  7. I have many presto pots all but one have spigots. I absolutely hate using the one without b/c it's too much of an accident waiting to happen. I'm waiting for the day when I end up pouring it everywhere but where it should be. I melt my wax only in the pots, add my color, FO etc after it's out of the pot. The only time it has ever clogged is when I did some wax dipped bears and what little leftover wax I had hardened and clogged it. I took a wooden skewer and pushed it through with no problem. I got my ones with spigots from Aztek. They come with the spigots already done. My suggestion would be to get one already with the spigot attached and try for yourself both ways, (using the spigot and not using it) and determine which way you prefer. Just because it has a spigot does not mean you have to use it. You can turn the spigot to where it's not going to flow and pick up the pot and pour or ladle. I personally have never tried the ladle b/c it just seemed like more work than needed. Plus that's another thing to clean afterwards.
  8. I agree about the samples. If you only had a few selling then it might not be so bad, but, depending on the group selling it can be costly to give each person a sample of each scent. I have a cheerleading group that I do fundraisers for and they typically have about 80 girls selling. If you had a group like that you'd give out 480 samples if you did 6 scents. That would be alot of time in making those samples not to mention the supplies you'd use. I add scent descriptions to my brochures for each scent so they have a general idea of what the scent is like. Some are pretty explanatory by just the name. Once you get into doing the free samples it would be expected from then on. I have many fundraisers that have come from doing the cheerleading one and if they knew you did that, every group that came from the original fundraiser would want or expect them.
  9. I agree this is someone wanting free stuff. I'd tell her (if you really care about her reviews) that she's welcome to purchase your products and review them. I can see if you contacted someone to get reviews to give some free samples but she contacted you basically asking for freebies. Is she going to do this everytime you add a new scent or product, want freebies to "review"? And who's to say she will really review them? I remember some time ago there being a lady that did this on facebook and she was a scammer. For some reason the name what smells so good is ringing a bell, but, I could have it confused. If I remember correctly the lady had changed the name of her facebook page a few times. There were many posts about this on this board. Maybe do a search and see what comes up to see if it's the same page. ETA: ok did a search and this is one of the posts regarding what I was talking about. http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?29532-Candlemakers-beware Not the same name, but, the last page of the thread states she changed the name of her facebook page to "What Smells So Good". I'd be inclined to tell her to take a hike or just ignore her altogether.
  10. online, craft fairs, monthly flea market, fundraisers and we have a booth in a craft mall.
  11. Oh to be able to get everything one needed from one place would be nice. Many of us use multiple suppliers for all our needs.
  12. QUOTE=moonshine;929993]Lilac Wild Currant Sandalwood Pink Sugar Cinnamon Nutmeg and Clove Cranberry Orange They had a Blueberry Cheesecake I dont see anymore that was wonderful so I switched to My Mamas Blueberry Cobbler and that is good Red Mac Apple is amazing I loved the Blueberry Cheesecake!! They discontinued it for some reason?? I bought several bottles of it when they got rid of it and now am down to 1 bottle left. Is My Mamas Blueberry as good as the other??
  13. I use the same wax for my containers and my melts. I pour mine in the 1524 closeable trays and have had no problems with them. If doing the single molds they can over time during transport get a little broken up, but, I rarely do those type anymore. Everyone here seems to want the tray style melts so. They release easily and usually leave the trays pretty clean when they're all used up.
  14. Haven't tried any of those you mentioned. But I second the Caramel Cinn Latte and the Pumpkin Pie Spice. Some of the others I've tried and love (in melts so far) is Pumpkin Caramel Cake, Caramel Fudge Cake, Banana Caramel Cupcake, Frosted Pumpkin. I know there are more, all I can think of off my head.
  15. CS Hanzel & Gretel is yummy. Aztek has a new FO called Spicy Apples & Peaches. It smells good OOB and has really good CT. I haven't burned it yet to see what they HT is like. It's still curing.
  16. Aztek also has free samples with purchase. For every 16 oz bottle ordered you get a free 1 oz bottle of your choice. They don't have a minimum order. BCN also has a free 1/2 oz sniffie with a $50.00 purchase and you can pick the scent.
  17. Told her one answer for them all.... GOOGLE IT! =) Love it!! How far did her jaw drop when you said that???
  18. I had read that somewhere as well. I can tell you I did try some FO on a shirt and it removed the color I had gotten on me from the liquid dye. Also removed it from my hands as well, then just washed my hands really good. I dabbed a little on a paper towel and blotted it on the shirt. It took it right out and then I threw the shirt in the wash. I wasn't sure if the FO sitting in too long would do something to the shirt.
  19. She's referring to The Candlemakers Store. I remember the posts about there being a connection between the two and someone posting they asked and were told no. I can see why they wouldn't want to be publicly connected to them. Bernadette has a good point, they may not have been able to reveal the dropship relationship.
  20. I used to use the blocks as well and then tried the liquid. Once I did I stopped using the blocks other than 1 particular color (lime green). I just couldn't get the shade of green I wanted for things like green apple, cucumber melon etc. The liquid does go a LONG way.
  21. I don't use that wax, but, I have had that happen a few times. I've noticed that it only happened when I poured at lower temps than usual. I got busy and when I checked the temp again for pouring it was about 5-10 degrees cooler than what I would normally pour. Those were ones that were for my personal use so I tried a heat gun and that took care of it. Had no problems in burning afterwards.
  22. I agree with Janet. Many people find Lavender soothing. I'm not one of them. I can't stand the smell of it and the scent would make me feel sick to my stomach. Her smell senses may be heightened (much like a pregnant woman's senses) and could be more affected by certain smells that others. I know some smells that didn't bother me before made me wanna hurl during that time. If she's going through chemo her stomach is probably in enough turmoil as is. I'd get some info on the lady as to what she likes and doesn't like and go from there. Hippie Christmas... not one I've smelled but just from the name makes me think of pine and incense...lol
  23. Good stuff!! I don't think I've ever seen or heard a candlemaker EVER say not to trim a wick. Guess it takes all kinds. Hey Beth, did this company also triple scent their candles???? or maybe they've figured out how to quadruple the scent!! lol
