  1. Well said!! There's enough to clean when making candles, the less to clean up the better.
  2. I think some of the kits have some of the more popluar scents for that particular supplier. I'd pick some scents that you like since these will be for you and for testing purposes. No sense in starting out with scents you don't like. There are so many fragrances out there it can be overwhelming as what to get. If your a bakery type person or a fruity type person start there. Once you learn what you're doing and have the wax and those first scents down you can branch out a bit and try more scents. You could do a search for the supplier you're getting the wax from to see what scents others on the forum have recommended or do a search for your wax and see if there are any suggestions for scents that others have had success with in that particular wax.
  3. Welcome to your new addiction!!! You'll find tons of info by using the search feature. You need to figure out what wax you are interested in learning. There's parrafin, soy, soy blends, palm, beeswax etc. So you'll need to find out what you are interested in and get a kit from a reputable supplier for the type of wax you want. I know there are some suppliers that sell tart kits so I'd start there. I'm sure more will jump in with some more info soon. The search feature will become your new best friend!! Have fun.
  4. I use different suppliers as well. Oh wouldn't it be wonderful to be able to get everything you need from one supplier....
  5. I love mine and couldn't imagine candlemaking without them. I have the spigot ones as I'm not into the ladle method at all. I got mine at Aztek. They are 54.99 and have same day shipping if ordered by noon. Here's a link to their presto pot. http://www.candlemaking.com/store/Presto-Pot-Wax-Melter-P2358C12.aspx It comes with the spigot already attached. I have had no problems with the spigot either. I like Aimee only melt wax in mine then use the spigot to run the wax into my pot then add my color and FO. The only time I had wax get stuck in the hole was when I used it to make wax dipped bears and didn't clean it out right away. It was easy to take care of as I used a wooden skewer to push though the hole then put hot water in and ran it though the spigot.
  6. I always get my order the next day provided I order by a certain time. That is one thing I definately love about JS, the same day shipping. So many other companies take days to process your order then the wait on shipping. It's nice to get next day service without paying for next day service.
  7. Have you tried her Hot Baked Apple Pie? I use it and is one of my best sellers. Also Mac Apple from CS is a big seller.
  8. That's what I was thinking. I thought maybe it was a typo in the post name when I first saw it.
  9. Good to know about the Bedtime Bath. I currently have the one from Bert's but since they went OOB I'll need a replacement. Maple Brown Sugar sounds yummy!! Will have to put it on my wishlist. Thanks for sharing, look forward to hearing your reviews once you put them in wax.
  10. I've only used their soy thick lotion and liked it. I used it when KY was out of their soy body butter forever. It didn't have the whipped appearance or feel but it did the job. I believe it had the same ingredients as KY's with maybe 1 ingredient difference or so.
  11. I just placed an order and got a few samples of this FO. The description sounded like it would be a good smeller. Anyone tried this one and have any thoughts to share? I also got Tinsel and Magic Potion to try. I read alot of great reviews on here on the Tinsel so I can't wait to try it out.
  12. I used to use 464 and stopped using it due to the frosting issues. I did everything under the sun that people have suggested to help with frosting and if they didn't frost while setting up they would eventually. I had some that were perfect looking, boxed them up and kept them in a room where I could somewhat control the temp and guess what after a week I looked at them and everyone had frosted. This wax is going to frost. The only way to keep it from getting the ugly frosting is to not use any color. I found that some colors and FO's frosted more so than others or more quickly than others. Not coloring was not an option for me. There are many out there that don't color for various reasons and no offense to those that do, I just don't care for the non colored look. It's too plain for me and imo doesn't give a standout presentation when you have them setup at shows. That's my personal preference though. Even if you could get them to not frost, you can't control the temps and climates they will come across when shipped and rec'd by a customer. If they are perfect when shipped out, and sit on trucks in cold temps by the time they reach the customer they will have frosted. You can try a search for that wax on here and find alot of posts regarding this wax and frosting. Good luck!!
  13. I've not put it in wax, only air fresheners. I use New Car Scent from NG. Sells very well for those people that are looking for that type scent.
  14. If you search room spray on their site, it will bring up a room spray kit and they use the body splash as the base. So my understanding of this is yes it can be used as both but only as a body spray if the FO is safe on skin.
  15. I believe that's what she meant.... $1.00 for the 16 oz bottle of alcohol
  16. Of the ones mentioned I've only used the Candlemakers Store so I can't compare any of the others. What are the FO's that are are trying to find (if you don't mind telling us) equivalents for? Someone on the board maybe able to help you find the equivalent without having to spend alot of money.
  17. The Candlemakers Store offers duplication as well if you send them some of the FO you want duplicated. Their site doesn't specify if a minimum applies so you may contact them and the others mentioned in the thread to see what the minimums are for each company and decide from there.
  18. I've never had anything but great customer service with them. I would, if it were me, call the owner and let them know what happened. If I were the owner I'd sure want to know how my employee handled this and be given the chance to make it right in some way. Just my two cents. I know at one point he was a member on this board (I believe he was the owner). Beth I'll see if I can find his username on the board. Maybe send him a pm and make him aware of the situation.
  19. I just got them today so I'm sure you'll be getting some soon.
  20. http://www.candlemaking.com/store/Glassglow-Container-Palm-Wax---Case-R2322-P2326C42.aspx Here's a link to Azteks instructions for glassglow. If that doesn't answer all your questions you can email them. They have always been very helpful, in my experience.
  21. I just got home from work and noticed there was a package left by usps that were shipping boxes. I haven't ordered any in awhile so I thought it was odd. There was a letter inside stating they will be offering a new regional rate box C starting Jan 22nd. They sent me samples of all the Regional Rate boxes including the new one since I've ordered boxes from them before. The new box is top loading only and is up to 25 lbs. Be on the lookout for your samples if you've ordered boxes from them before.
  22. Thought I'd share this in the event any of you have ordered anything from Zappos. They had a story on the news here yesterday that 24 million people had their info hacked when zappos was cyber attacked. Names, physical addresses, emails, phone numbers and last 4 digits of cc's were hacked. These cyber losers need to get a life, job or something and stop stealing from people. Who knows who else will be affected by this if any of you have bought anything through zappos.
  23. I haven't used anyones Fruit Loops FO but I have used JS Fruit Slices. Totally different FO's. The one from JS is more of a multiple slices of fruit combination so it doesn't smell like the cereal if that's what you're looking for. It does smell good though.
