  1. Thanks for the suggestions. Any recommendations on any others to try from the companies mentioned? I hate to pay shipping for one FO.
  2. I believe I remember seeing them at www.containerandpackaging.com I don't know if they still have them, but, I know I didn't dream it.
  3. Hi all, I tried a search for this and most of the results were pretty old with some of them not being good in soy. So I'm looking for a realistic leather scent that throws in soy. I swear I thought I remembered a thread fairly recently about this but it didn't show up in my search. If you have any recommendations for leather I'd greatly appreciate it. TIA
  4. I haven't used Peaks aroma beads, but, Cierra, BCN and Cajun all have great beads that melt nicely. I tried Azteks once before and didn't like the way they baked down and I cut my hand open trying to get the stinking thing out of my mold. They are pretty easy to get out of the molds (cookie cutters) if you get them out at the right time. You want to let them cool but not where they are completely cold. Mine are usually ready to take out after about 5 min of cooling. I don't bother trying to cut the edges as one it would be way too time consuming for the amount of these I sell and two it doesn't bother me that much. I've had people say they like the way I got the edges to do that, makes them look more hand crafted. So customers don't seem to mind the edges either.
  5. Yes I've had many questions about that. I think people are getting a little more educated now as that question is not asked so much. That's just one of their selling ploys, to tell people only their melts will work in their warmers. I've heard many of them make that claim....as BS as it is. Oh and I love eclamshell as well. It's about time to order another case
  6. You might try the Strawberry Preserves from NG. I call it Strawberry Jam though. It's been a very good seller for me. I also use NG's Warm Van Sugar.
  7. Sounds like a scam to me as well. I have gotten similiar emails in the past. First they were wanting a huge quantity of product (without ever trying them) and wanting to know pricing. I did respond just to see what if any response I would get. I told them pricing was listed on the site and they could place their order on the site and pay through paypal. Never heard from them again. I don't remember where the person claimed to be from (it was another country though) but the email sounded like those Nigerian scams. Horrible english!! Atleast your person has a better handle on the english language.
  8. I've not done them either. My feelings pretty much mirror what the others said. You may get a few sales from it but my opinion is how much more would you be out giving away the samples? Doesn't seem like it would justify what you'd be giving away.
  9. People will pay that much for a "name brand" b/c they think they are getting the best, when in many cases us little people have just as good if not better products. It takes getting those people to actually try the non name brand to see and sadly there are those people out there that will never be convinced that anything can compare or be better than their pricy name brands. I once mistakenly bought the Meijer brand pickles (I always bought Claussen). They were in the refridgerated part, they were right next to each other and they have similiar labels. I didn't even realize it until I had looked at the label (after several days and several pickles later) that I had bought the wrong ones. Just goes to show that name brand isn't always better. The Meijer ones were half the price and they tasted exactly the same. Needless to say I never bought the name brand ones again. Sorry I went a little off subject, just wanted to make the point that the pricy name brands aren't always superior.
  10. I think alot of it has to do with your area and the price. I found in my area that the 8 oz jj are the most poplular. While I also have them in the 16 oz size, the 8 WAY outsold the 16. I don't even make the 16 oz anymore unless I get an order or special request for it. You are right, there are many classier looking jars out there but here people tend to go with the not so fancy jars. If you are selling in an upscale place yes you'd definately want to go with a classier look. There are some people out there that hate the CBA but I'm not one of them. The right wick makes a world of difference. I first started out with the 464 and hated the frosting and the crusty looking tops after they were burned. I switched over to CBA and never looked back. I've also tried the Excel and liked it alot also. I haven't had the time to do alot with the Excel but since things have slowed down some after the busy season I plan on playing with it more. There are a few of us here that use the CBA but most use other waxes, so you'll not find alot of help or info regarding that wax on here. If you like the CBA and have gotten great HT with it then stick with it. No reason to switch and spend more money on waxes testing b/c many don't like that wax. You may find that you don't like the others and go back to the CBA. If it ain't broke, ya know.
  11. I get the original Gain scent from The Candlemakers Store. Sells like crazy for me. A couple other clean scents that sell well from Candlemakers is Downy Clean Breeze and Niagara Falls Mist. I use Clean Cotton from CS and April Fresh Downy from JS. HTH
  12. I get the original Gain from The Candlemakers Store. It sells like crazy for me. A couple other good sellers from Candlemakers that are clean are the Downy Clean Breeze and Niagara Falls Mist.
  13. Depending on your area, you may be able to get that for a 4 oz but here people won't pay that much for a small candle. Even though alot of people just buy to help the cause price does factor into whether they will buy or not. IMO 2 or 3 scents is not enough. You need to have a variety of various scents that will cover anyones tastes (floral, clean, bakery, etc.) There are so many different types of scent people out there that you need to try to accomodate all of them. I know if I were given an order form for a fundraiser and all I had to pick from was 2 or 3 floral scents for example, I wouldn't order any. I am NOT a floral person at all but I have to carry florals b/c there are many people out there that are. Even for a cause I wouldn't spend my money on something that I didn't like and wouldn't burn. Look at your costs and see if you could offer them at a lower price and still make money. I agree with Always Wondering, I think that's a bit high for that size.
  14. After reading this thread I've placed it on my to order list next time I order from them. Can't wait to try it out!!
  15. I call mine Twilight. I didn't care for the woods part so I dropped it. A friend of my Dad's gets body butter for his wife in that scent and he renamed it. I think he just can't remember the name, but, he'll say I need some more of that Twinkle Berry for the wife.
  16. I won't do consignment any longer. I tried it once and it was horrible. Maybe just the person I was dealing with, but, it was much more of a headache than I care to deal with. Not only did I constantly have to contact the owner as she always seemed to "forget" the pricing agreed on each product and owe me money, I'd have to have her recheck her inventory as her numbers NEVER matched up with mine. The products were always "found in the back stock room" so the numbers would end up working out but I felt like basic math was not a strongpoint with this person. She ended up going OOB and I had to go get the rest of my product. Not a headache I care to ever deal with again. I agree that there's a red flag there if she was doing it wholesale and now wants to go consignment. I agree with you as you need to look after your business first. She may be nice and all but it's your money and your product on the line.
  17. I've not used this option from the Candlemakers Store, but, they do offer scent duping if you send them in some of the FO. Might be worth looking into if it's reasonable (cost wise) and you will always have access to getting more of it. Who knows when and if this lady in Cali will go OOB and if she'll give up the secret if she does. If you can have it duped that won't be a problem for you down the road, unless CMS goes bellyup. There may be other suppliers that offer this option as well. Just a thought.
  18. The only one I've tried is NG's. I really like it.
  19. I've used Baby Powder from JS and NG. Both smell great and I sell alot in that scent. I've used Johnsons Bedtime Bath and it smells so good also. I made some dipped bears in that for showers before. I got that one from Berts which is now OOB. NG has it but haven't tried their version. NG has one that some have recommended for baby shower scents (Baby Bee Buttermilk). Haven't had a chance to get that one but it's on my list to try.
  20. Love Spell, Endless Love, Sweet Pea, Pink Sugar and just about any Bath & Body Works Dupe all sell well for me. Dark Kiss and Twilight Woods are my fav B&BW scents right now. I can't give any kind of chocolate scents away even at Valentines Day. Others have great success with them, depending on their area. I tried some and got the oh that smells so good but only a couple that actually bought them. So I don't even bother with chocolate scents anymore.
  21. I don't use many of BCN's FO's but Strawberries n Cream and Dreamsicle are great in soy.
  22. I have not used the one from NG but will put it on my for my next order. I do have some of the odor elim base but haven't gotten around to doing anything with it. Currently use CS's Odor Elim FO and love it. Anyone that has tried both have a preference or think one is better than the other? The one from CS works great and smells like Juicy Fruit gum to me. Yet another FO to try out.
  23. As some others have said it really depends on the area you are in and the type of flea market. There are some that are just junky, those I would stay away from. We have one here that comes once a month and it is really good for us. We've gotten alot of customers from it and they return every month and buy more. We've been doing this flea market for about 3 years or so and mostly it's been great. Do you have other candles or soap sellers at the particular flea market you are interested in? That can have a huge impact on your sales if there are. If it's a decent flea market and these other sellers have been there for x amount of time they will have alot of repeat customers and some may not try a new unknown company to them. The one we do here has atleast 2 other booths of candles (aside from us) and several soapers. As for the days it really depends. Sometimes Friday is slow and other times it's an awesome day, sometimes Sunday is slow and other times it's great. Saturday is usually always great. How many days and how frequently does this flea market open? Is it something that brings in alot of traffic? Take in to account the booth size and price also. Is this a flea market that you have attended before? If not I'd go and check it out as a shopper to see how much traffic comes in and if they are actually buying or just walking around looking to have something to do. I'd check out the other sellers there to see what type of stuff they are selling. If it's alot of junk and dollar type store items then handmade products probably wouldn't go over well.
