  2. Tammy, I found it works better for me to not have shipping added in. The customers are aware that shipping charges are not calculated in and they will be contacted for payment of shipping costs or they can contact me for a complete total and make one payment. This was easier for me as some of the customers want whatever the cheapest shipping is, some want UPS only, some want FedEx only etc. Sometimes there's too much of a difference between USPS and the other 2 that I don't want to have the cart calculate shipping and I end up paying the difference if it doesn't cover it, or have to issue a refund for overpayment in shipping to the customer. I only charge actual shipping and in most cases (unless they say whoever is cheapest) I check the actual rates for all 3 shippers and let the customer decide. I've not had any problems in doing it this way. Sorry Jack to hi-jack your thread.
  3. I have used it from Nature's Garden and Aztek. Both are great dupes as this is one of my fav scents from Bath & Body. I've used in soy candles and melts.
  4. What about Butt Naked?? There's another one that some would be offended by or would want to change the name. I personally like the funny names. Now I did once at a flea market see a vendor that carried all sorts of names.... those I most definatley would not even think of carrying. These were the type names that would offend alot of people. I was curious though on some of them what they smelled like but didn't venture into sniffing them. There was one in particular that I thought ew what if it's a smelly one??? They did make me and the hubby laugh though.
  5. If I were going to change the name I'd go with Monkey's Breath. I don't change the name though as so many people out there are familiar with Monkey Farts. Those that are not are always intrigued to smell it just by the name. I usually joke with the customer after they smell it that it's probably the best smelling fart they've ever smelled. They laugh and say you're right!
  6. I didn't vote yet b/c I'm undecided on which I like better. I think I'd go with 1 if you were able to add some little extra's to it to make it look less "screensaver".
  7. Yeah I'm thinking the same thing. This has been going on since November with numerous calls and I'm assuming messages and she's just now realizing that this hasn't been handled. Ok blame the man, that I get, but, whose balancing the checkbook to NOT have noticed that payment hadn't cleared??? Is that the hubby's fault as well?? Sounds like she tried to get one over on you and when the cops call she realized you weren't gonna let her get away with it and suddenly remembers how to use a phone. I really hope you get your money.
  8. Wow, those are GREAT!! You have a talent there and the detail is super. I don't have the patience for something like that. I'm sure your friend will love them!!
  9. Those are very pretty!!! So colorful and I love the butterflies!! Once again nice job (as always) BlackTie!!
  10. I've seen pages that had over 4000 likes and most of them were from some other business. The one's that say new fan from or liking your page, please return the favor. Stuff like that. I don't waste time on those b/c imo those are pages where people are just trying to run up their numbers to make them look bigger or better?? I'd rather have 100 likes from people who actually bought and use my products than 4000 of people who never used and never will use my products. Mostly I think it's in an attempt for them to get more likes and to promote their business on your page. Not saying there's anything wrong if you do that, it's just not me.
  11. It could have been there the whole time and was unnoticed. I've had just a few jars over the years that had a scratch or a small hairline crack in them. They were washed and wicked without seeing them until I poured the wax, then I noticed it. I kept those few for myself just in case they would break, it would happen to me and not a customer. I've not had any of them break though. Who's to say that a crack didn't occur in transit or someone in the house could have dropped it or knocked it over without your tester knowing. If there are kids around, they could have done it and we know they aren't gonna run and tell you I knocked your candle over when I was not supposed to be throwing the ball in the house. Just a thought.
  12. Sorry I can't offer any suggestions as to why it happened. I'm sure this is not a reused over and over container that you had someone testing so I wouldn't think that would be the cause. But I have used candles on warmers many many times and never had one break. I have a lady that gets her candles without wicks for the purpose of only using them on the warmers and she's not had one break either and she buys them by the case. Maybe someone will be able to give you an idea of what happened and why.
  13. I'm curious to see if anyone has tried that also. Hmmm may have to get one and try myself. Just what I need, something else to buy.
  14. I transfer from the presto to a glass measuring cup. It's one of the bigger ones. It's either 2 or 4 quarts. I've gotten them from Walmart and Meijer (Anchoring Hocking and Pyrex brands). I don't warm it just room temp. The wax doesn't cool that much from the time it's transferred to the glass container since I don't ladle, I use the spigot.
  15. I've used Aztek many times as well and never once had a problem. I've had it shipped and picked up. Of the times I've had it shipped I get it the next day and never had any items missing, damaged etc. Of the times I've drove there and picked up, they were super nice and helpful. Didn't try to push any extra items on me and Black Tie is right about how fast "the kid" is in getting your order to your truck. Of the times we've been there, we've filled up the back of an F150 with wax and the back seat of the 150 with jars. Not to mention some of the FO's and lids. We hadn't gotten to look at everything in the showroom before he was there at the truck with the order. I was surprised at the post you mentioned when she posted it as I've never had a problem so it was kind of a shock to hear. One person's experience though will not keep me from ordering from them. If you search other suppliers there's going to be someone whose had a bad experience or didn't like something or another. Until I have an issue from them or any other supplier I'll continue to do business with that supplier. The only exception is if it's a company that I've never ordered from and they have multiple bad reviews from people. In that case I'll look elsewhere.
  16. Holy crap...could you imagine the time it would take to dip little squares??
  17. If I had not seen the previous posts (that are no longer showing) I'd wonder what the heck is Wessex talking about?? Spammers annoy me and I like you won't buy from those that spam.
  18. I was wondering the same thing when I last ordered from them. I have some that I've yet to get to do anything with so hopefully they are just OOS and it will be back in soon. I'd hate to try it, love it and not be able to get more. Have you emailed them asking what was going on with it?
  19. Yes. I was just at walmart today and that particular store (which is one of the Super Stores) no longer had them. They didn't have the melts either. They also carried the Better Homes & Garden brand of warmers and melts. They were no longer there either. Wonder if all the stores will no longer carry them or if some will and some won't.
  20. I remember a thread about them from awhile back where someone on the board said if you have your items in a shop (like a craft mall) that you can use that address as your brick and mortar store. Don't know if you have that but in case you do give it a try.
  21. Exactly that... toilet paper dipped in scented wax. Much like the wax dipped bears you probably have seen. I've not tried it but I wonder how the heck it doesn't come apart once it goes in that hot wax??? Blacktie, have any funny stories about that??
  22. I don't use UV but I'd say if you are selling candles with it in them, then my opinion is yes, you'd need it when conducting your testing. One little thing can make a difference. You need to test all the ingredients together if you plan on selling them that way. I don't know how much it could change your outcome, but, you should know how all the ingredients work in your application and make adjustments if needed. HTH.
  23. I haven't heard of them either. 33.00 for a lb of FO???? :shocked2: It'd be cheaper getting elsewhere and paying for shipping.
  24. There are many people on the board that use the ladle method. It's just not for me though. Seems like an extra step to me. I make by batches so what I'm making at the time I use all the wax in the pot so using a ladle just seems pointless to me. I can see where some people would use it if they weren't using all the wax in the pot, but even then to me I'd rather run out what I needed through the spigot. Just my preference of doing things though. I don't really clean it everytime. When I'm done making for the day, I just wipe it out with paper towels. Now if I do bears, yes I clean it since the scent and bear was in the pot with the wax.
  25. When I hear about someone complain about some purchase they made with anyone and hear "I threw it away" after it is suggested the item be returned for testing or whatever reason the seller wants it returned I think someone looking for some free stuff. I mean why throw it away when you are complaining about the product?? If you're contacting the seller complaining I would think the customer would want to return the item(s) so the seller wouldn't just assume they were fishing for freebies and could see for themselves if there was actually something wrong. Too many people out there fishing for freebies, and sorry this sounds like the same story to me. JMHO though.
