  1. Did you ever put this oil in wax and if so how did it do? Did the spicier notes come through? From what I recall this one smells similar to Spiced Pumpkin from Yank**.
  2. Love the Oatmeal Cookie, Hot Apple Cobber & Nutcracker!
  3. just an fyi, Holidazzle from Candle Source is another wonderful holiday scent.
  4. I am not a pink sugar fan so I can't help there, but I really like the marshmallow from AH/RE. I personally like mine with a bit more smokiness so I add a touch of campfire, but on its own, it is very marshmallowy.
  5. I may have posted this info in another thread but I thought that I would provide an update now that I have tried these myself. BNL Autumn Leaves is a great scent and very earthy. Gold Canyon's Autumn Walk smells like men's cologne (to my nose at least) so definitely not a match. The closest I have come to finding a dupe to GC's Autumn Walk is Cracklin Birch from NG. Although it is not an exact dupe (it is missing something) it is close enough that you may be able to use it as a base and add to it. I personally can not stand Autumn Walk or Cracklin Birch but a friend of mine loves it so I was trying to find a match for her. HTH,
  6. Just finished pouring tarts: Apple Zucchini Bread, Apple Pumpkin Strudel, Autumn Campfire, Autumn Wreath, Caramel Apple Pie, Christmas Tree, Cinnamon Buns, Dickens Christmas, Gingerbread House, Haunted Hayride, Mulberry Spice, Peppermint Bark, Salty Sea Air, Sugared Vanilla Shortbread & Vanilla Noel. Next is a test candle in Pumpkin Pie and Cinnamon Garland. Here goes nothing...
  7. Can anyone please tell me how many ounces of wax the 8oz square mason jar will hold? Thanks,
  8. Looks like a great set up. I wish I had a space dedicated to pouring. My space is my kitchen island so I have to get everything out and put back away each time. But I have a system down so it goes pretty quick. I lay wax paper on the counter under where I set my ladle after pouring into my pour pot. When it gets full of excess unscented wax, I just peel it off and back in the presto it goes.
  9. I decided that I am going to make myself a candle or two this weekend. I only make tarts but I am going to give a jar candle or two a go. I will be using an 8 ounce square mason jar, 4627, zinc wicks (51-32-18-Z because that is what I have) and I think I will try pumpkin pie and cinnamon garland. This will be an interesting experiment so I hope it works out. If anyone has any advice using those components, please feel free to chime in. On top of that I will probably be pouring at least another 15-20 fall scents to restock my favorites (tarts).
  10. I mix mine with Clove and call it Orange pomander. it smells great at 50/50.
  11. well it probably has nothing to do with the ingredients but maybe something like Wanderlust?
  12. Candybee, off topic a bit but I sometimes make my own laundry soap (the dry kind). I put my bar soap in the microwave instead of using a cheese grater. If you micro it in about 1 minute intervals, the soap will expand and become very dry and brittle. Just keep taking off those pieces and put the non expanded portion back in the micro until it has all expanded. Once it cools down enough you can just break the pieces over a blender and it will pretty much disintegrate into small granules and then you can blend it further to make it nice and smooth. I am not sure if that method would work for those that make liquid soap, but for the dry laundry soap it works wonders.
  13. Hs anyone tried their wild berry cheesecake and know of a FO dupe? A friend of mine loves that scent and asked me to make her some melts. I havent smelled it myself so I am not sure what type of berries are in it. Any suggestions?
  14. I use the chisel & hammer method as well. It breaks up really easy for me but it is really LOUD!!!!
  15. Do you mean do I want the color to show up on my lips like a stain? I wouldnt mind if the color stained my lips a little but it isnt necessary. The lip glosses/balms that I use regularly do not stain my lips in any way but they shows up as a nice sheer color with a sheen. I want it a little glossier than a chapstick but not gloppy or sticky like a lip gloss in a tube with a wand. Since this will just be for me, I wouldnt even mind using a base and then adding a bit of lipstick to get the right color.
  16. Have you tried the Chocolate Orange Truffle from Backwoods? I am not sure what Jaffa smells like, but Chocolate Orange Truffle smells exactly like those chocolate/orange balls shaped and sliced like an orange that are sold around the holidays. I have never had the urge to drink right out of the bottle but with that one I wanted to. My husband wanted to as well. You may need to add some vanilla to get the blend you are after but it is super strong and so delicious.
  17. I did put it in wax because I figured that my nose must be off since so many peeps like it but nope... it smelled just like bad cough medicine in wax too. I really wanted to like pumpkin souffle (CS) but that one doesnt sit well with me either. There is something in it that just goes eewwhh. I also like zucchini bread but otherwise have pretty similar taste as Karen as well.
  18. I have been thinking about making lip balm as well (only for myself). Is it simple enough to make it tinted? I buy tinted lip balm/gloss all the time and I go through it like crazy. I dont wear lipstick but I love me some balm. I will do a search on the board in a bit for more info but if anyone has any quick info on adding tint, that would be great.
  19. I absolutely can not stand patchouli. It smells like a**, sorry.... I also can not stand anything pink sugar, and Cracklin Birch makes my stomach turn as well. Now the odd one for me is that I do not like Perfect Pumpkin (WYW). I havent met any pumpkins that I didnt like until that one. I thought I got a bad bottle but the sample and the 8oz bottle both smell like cough medicine to me, ick. Surprisingly, I have discovered that I dont like the cheesecake blends either.
  20. I add a smidge of campfire smoke to mine and call it campfire marshmallow.
  21. I agree with possibly increasing your temp. I have found in my own experience that if I add FO at a temp below 185 it greatly diminishes the throw. I use a presto, heat the wax to about 195, ladle into a pour pot, stir slightly, check the temp with an infrared thermometer and when it reaches 185 I add the FO.
  22. Well hopefully someone will pick up the fragrance oils. There are 3 oils that I found from EL that I love. Ironically I came across them not too long ago and was so excited. That is so typical of my timing and luck. ugh.
  23. clean laundry from the candle source is awesome! Sorry, I am not home to check but it may actually be called clean cotton at TCS.
