  1. Ok, this is my 3rd and hopefully final attempt to type and post this. Stupid laptop. I hit something and poof, my post disappeared. I put these in tarts last night: Pumpkin Pecan Waffles - light scent, smells good but I dont detect much pumpkin. I can smell the pecan and a light maple bakery scent. Cranberry Woods - No idea what the original smells like but this would be a nice holiday scent. These are OOB only: Cinnamon Broomsticks - smells nice & strong. Will probably be a keeper Pumpkin Pie Perfection - can smell the pumpkin and the spice. Very similar to The Great Pumpkin (Candlesource) and Pumpkin Pie (BCN) Pumpkin - ehh, just ok. too light for my taste Salted Caramel - smells yummy. Very similar to CW's version. Ok, hoping this posts....
  2. Oh, well then maybe that wasnt the best advice, LOL. Sorry that happened to you.
  3. Hmm, interesting. Maybe the white chocolate wouldnt be necessary along with the milk chocolate but I was thinking that the birthday cake would give it that bakery quality. Barncat, please report back your results. Thanks!
  4. I tried this wax and steered away from it partially because it was such a PITA to get out of the bag. I made the mistake of stuffing the 25lb bag into an empty kitty litter container and it gave me no wiggle room to work with. It doesnt help that I am dealing with tennis elbow/tendinitis right now and it kills my elbow to try and get the wax out of that stupid container I threw a lot away. But that is not the point.... I remember reading that someone simply cut a big chunk right out of the bag, plastic and all and put it into their presto and the plastic just floated to the top and was removed. That would certainly eliminate the issue of wasting wax. If i ever try this wax again, I might give that method a try.
  5. OldGlory, I am glad you reminded me of that. I actually posted a suggestion about that in a thread last year. I might have to find a mixology page again and take a gander. http://www.craftserver.com/topic/102903-fragrance-combo-thread/?hl=mixology#entry969124 While I really like the idea (and I like the creative names), but unfortunately you have to really know what their (Yank's) scents smell like to equate the blending ideas to FO's since their mixology page is comprised of blending their scents by name.
  6. I love going through the older posts from years back and finding inspiration from all of the blending ideas that others shared. I thought it might be fun to start a new thread to post all those great blends that you have created, either intentionally or by accident. Here are a few ideas to start Apple Pie & Pumpkin Ginger Streusel Cinnamon & Bayberry (love this around the holidays) Cherry & Lime Cranberry & Cinnamon you get the idea....
  7. What FO's would you use if you wanted to blend your own Red Velvet Cake? I was thinking possibly equal parts of Birthday cake, white chocolate, milk chocolate and buttercream frosting. Has anyone blended your own with success? Thanks!
  8. Well I am going to have to give this a try again but add more FO this time around. I have a huge bag of extra salt that we no longer need from our water softener, and I most definitely have an extra bottle of FO or two (or five hundred, but who's counting) that I could use up.
  9. What's your name? Dessa - Not Megan as most would assume based on my user name. My kids are Megan and Garrett. Get it? How old are you? According to my birth certificate I am in my mid 40's, but as the saying goes, 40 is the new 20 so lets just stick with 20 something. Where do you live? in Arizona, but I should be living somewhere with lots of tree, barns, farmhouses and old country homes with big front porches. How long have you been making candles/soap/whatever? for about 4 years now. I only make tarts, primarily as a hobby. I sell here and there to friends on a request basis, but nothing more than that. How did you get started making candles/soap/whatever? I was trying to replicate the feeling of fall (even though it was over 100 degrees in Arizona) so I was searching for a good pumpkin pie candle and I stumbled on this site. The rest is history. Are you married? Any kids? Yes & Yes, kids are 13 and 15, and married for almost 19 years If candle/Soap making isn't your primary job, what do you do? I work full time outside of the home for a large finance company. Anything else we should know? I love to decorate and DIY projects for our home. I am currently into the farmhouse/cottage style and am constantly adding little things here and there to make our house a cozy home. Oh yeah, and I love Pinterest! I have a blog where I post my creations/projects. My blog is not the most exciting (really quite boring) but it is pic heavy for anyone that may like that style. www.justaddsomejava.blogspot.com (I also love coffee, hence the blog name, and my family are big fans of Disneyland and Disneyworld!)
  10. Any recommendations for a good cinnamon sugar FO to be used straight or as a mixer?
  11. Candlekitty, Do you add any additives to the 1343 when making tarts? Thanks!
  12. My blog was created as a forum for me to post pictures (of crafts and decorating) for my family to see and for linking to pinterest, not so much as an outlet for thoughts or opinions. My blog is very picture heavy with very little commentary, and the commentary that is posted is pretty boring and I don't update it too often. If a thread is started for links to blog I dont mind sharing it but not sure that you would want it posted here (in the Business section) since it has nothing to do with wax, soap or b&b products.
  13. Thanks Vicky! I appreciate the kind words.
  14. I will send you a PM with a link to my blog.
  15. I do not think you will be disappointed with the 4625. I tried 4794 but with my process and oils, I did not get longevity out of 4794. It had a whopper of a HT for about 4 hours but it fizzled after that (for me at least). Others have had great results with 4794 so go figure.
  16. I do blog but it is completely unrelated to wax. I have a personal blog where I post my home decorating adventures. I am a crappy blogger but a decent decorator, LOL.
  17. I make tarts as a hobby and only sell a few tarts here and there to friends and family but I checked my list of scents that I have on hand at all times in wax - 73 different scents. Gulp! That doesn't count the 500+ sample bottles that never made it into wax.
  18. I really like NG's Coco Mango but not sure if it is body safe as I only make paraffin tarts. Peaks Mango Payapa and Mango Peach Salsa are both very strong in tarts.
  19. Can anyone please describe what this scent smells like to you? I have read the description but would like to also hear your input? Thanks!
  20. In addition to the type of warmer, air flow in the space they are being melted in makes a difference (AC versus no AC, ceiling fans, etc).
  21. Is anyone else having success with scented sea salt in a warmer? After reading this thread I searched the board and found a few other threads from years back where folks scented various types of salt and had luck with HT in a warmer. I am not so lucky. I made a small batch just to test. I basically added a 1/2 cup of coarse sea salt to a polypro bag, added about a teaspoon of FO and squished it all together until all the salt was coated. It smells great in the bag however I am not getting much throw at all from the warmer. I added a couple of teaspoons of the scented salt to the warmer and after close to an hour I am just not smelling it unless I put my nose right up to the warmer. Based on the posts in the older threads that I read, the HT was very good, so I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas or suggestions? I didnt let the salt fully dry but it didnt seem like that was important since I am just using it for myself to see if it would throw and not concerned about packaging. Thanks!
  22. I dont have a business credit card but my personal credit card was fraudulently charged a couple of nights ago. Luckily they declined the charge immediately and sent me an email asking me to call and validate the other charges that had processed (all other charges were valid). I was able to close my account right away. It is scary how easily it happens. This is the second time this has happened in about a period of 8-9 months. It is a PITA to close the account and switch over my bills to the new card number but much better than getting stuck with a whopping charge that wasnt mine.
  23. I have a candle that I would love to have duplicated into an FO for personal use. Has anyone had success with having a scent duplicated from a container candle?
