Over the years I have had people buy my bakery candles and list them on their web sites - I don't know what the customers got because we all have our own style and let's face it some of us are more talented than others and yes, there are some pretty ugly candles out there. I had many people copy my designs and call them their original creations. I even had one woman made exact replicas of my bakery candles and even copied the backgrounds to confuse my customers. And my pictures were stolen many times of course when confronted these women are real B******. I have heard every kind of excuses, bottom line it is wrong! I have learn that there is an HTLM code you can put on you web pages that will prevent people from sealing your pictures and text. I always put my name or logo on the pictures. As for the famous C&D letter save your money it is only good if you really intend to take the person to court and it doesn't always deter that kind of people. Many of them have done this before and know that there is nothing you can do unless you are willing to spend a truck load of money. I have also learn that these people come and go because they don't want to do the hard work it take to get establish with customers and because in many cases their candles turn out to be crap (can I say crap here?) - One of my long time customer bought from the woman who was making replicas of my candles, I guess she wasn't duplicating the quality because that customer came back to me and bought over $100.00 worth of candles.

And it looks like your pictures are not the only one she is stealing. By the way my copyright lawyer told me that if something is true than you cannot be sued for defamation.

Does anyone know if RE will carry KY para soy tart/votive wax? If not maybe Vickey might be kind enough to let her know what wax it is and where we can get it. I really would hate having to start looking for another tart wax.

I have used both Fillmore and the Jar Store many times without any problems.

Oh no! I have been using her tart wax for a the last few year and now I have to start testing all over again. It's sad so many businesses are closing...who's next.

Call me suspicious but this could be the first step to collecting taxes on all internet sales. I got rid of my merchant account 2 years ago and only use Paypal now and I haven't heard anything from them.

Between this and the Safe Cosmetic Act 20011 I am getting a headache (big one), I'm starting to think that you need to make a lot and I do mean a lot of money to put up with all that aggravation...lucky for me I don't have to pay any taxes on my private jet.

Handcrafter Soapmakers Guild came out in support of the Safe Cosmetic Act 2011 http://www.soapguild.org/blog/2011/07/legislative-update-the-safe-cosmetics-act-of-2011/ I don't see how they can support this bill. Yes, I know that there is one person. Does anyone know what firm this person is with? Are they based in DC? Seriously, I think it is going to take more than one lobbist to get us heard by congress. Has anyone seen any media coverage about what this bill would do to our industry, because I live in the DC area and I haven't heard anything. All suppliers should have the petition link and info about this bill on their home pages but they don't and sites like Etsy don't say anything about this bill. I don't think that these elected officials are anti-business, they get lobbied to death by special interests and there is just no one lobbying for us. They just don't get to see the whole picture and do not fully comprehend the impact this will have on small business owners like us and on their state's economy. Contact your elected officials and the sponsors of this bill to voice your concern.

If you are in VA you should check with your county first. For zoning and you may need a permit, I think it is called a fire permit issued by the Fire Department because all that good stuff is flammable.

And while you're at it don't forget to tell me where you get your fragrance oils, how much you use per lb of wax, the type and sizes of wicks you use... Some people are just too much!:rolleyes2
