  1. I never ship before getting payments but this case I made an exception because she did pay for the first small order but she always had some problems with checkout and at first I tought she didn't know how to shop online...she was driving me crazy and I didn't want to be rude because she was a little old lady. Etsy has cancelled the sale and I am just going to ignore her. But I am sure she will try with some else because she buys from other vendors on Etsy, so she is from Hudson NC on Mac Drive and even if she pays for her order she will have some kind of problems when she gets the order.
  2. Ok, last year I was taken for over $500.00 worth of goods by this little old lady from NC. She was placing large orders in my Etsy store but would said that she did not want to use Paypal so I made invoices using my Authorized.net merchant 's account but she seems to have a loooooooot of problems at checkout. To make a long story short she accused me of taking money out of her bank acount, drove me nuts wanting to contact Authorized.net, wanting my account number, fed me a bunch of wild stories...and of course I never got paid. I hadn't heard from her in 6 months, I stopped replying to her e-mails because I was fed up with her drama. She knows I will not sell to her anymore and yesterday she placed a large order on Etsy but did not pay using the Paypal checkout...because she probably wants to scam me again and I know that she is reselling the goods. I have asked Esty to cancel the sale...I also want to send her an e-mail but I want advice on what to say so she will leave me alone! I would love to drive to NC and kick her in the butt a few times but I guess that wouldn't be nice.
  3. Ok this is the culprit http://www.etsy.com/shop/liltexascandles
  4. Can I post a link? Is it allowed? Moderator? This person did remove the pictures after she was confronted by the owner but from the look of her own work it is only a matter of time until she does it again.
  5. I got an e-mail regarding a candlemaker posting stolen pictures on Esty...these involved votives but she may have other stolen items. Apparently this person stole many pictures from another Esty vendor (stupid) and added her business name to them (really stupid)...so without naming names...you may want to do a search on Esty to see if your pictures have not been stolen by this candle "faker". If you find your pictures on her site please report her to Esty. Maybe we should start a hall of shame on this board for people like her.
  6. I have been in business for many years and I have learned the hard way that they are a lot of sleazy so called candlemakers out there. These people are in it to make a quick buck and really don't care about the quality of their products and they give us all a bad name. Why spend all that time/money working on a product when you can just steal others' hard work. Maybe you can use the fact that this guy bought one of your candles in your marketing... something like "even the competition prefers our candles"
  7. I have been taking a break from candle making and playing with B&B... What is cream shampoo is it a premade base or are there recipes outhere. I have also been looking at Body Powder...I have been using commercial BP for year but I figured I can make my own now but there are so many recipes and suppliers outhere...can anyone recommend anything. Should I get ND Talc Powder...
  8. Free samples and reviews...these days everybody wants a free lunch! However I did have a woman request for samples and offer to pay for them in that case I just charge for shipping.
  9. You can do a web site for the price you would pay for Art Fire Pappashop costs me $12.99 a month for my web site and it is very easy to use even if you have no experience.
  10. I don't know about stearic in gel but you need a harder gel...http://www.creativeilluminations.com/category_3.php I used CHP when I was making bakery candles and never had a problem.
  11. Then again I was taken by a little old lady from SC who spoke perfect English...so you never know where the scam will come from.
  12. I just made 3 batches this morning. My sugar cubes do not get hard I think it could be the castille soap...I have a recipe for soap frosting that calls for the liquid castille soap to harden the MP....
  13. Why double wick if your candles are burning fine. I get a great burn with soy and I do not double wick my 16 oz apothecary jars either...
  14. I am looking for a recipe for creamy shampoo using ffb.
  15. http://www.ecrater.com/p/1665691/20-lotion-pump-double-wall-jars Who else has these type of jars?
  16. I am looking for a very simple MP clay bar recipe for my poor oily face
  17. I e-mailed the WH 2 weeks ago and Friday I received a generic small business e-mail back...better than my 2 senators and my congressman who is running for re-election...
  18. I wouldn't just walk in a store because in many cases the manager/owner is busy. I would get the person's name by phone then drop a nice sample bag with a good brochure. Follow with a phone call a few days later to set up a meeting.
  19. Where is the best place to get these fruit extract powders...so far I found ND and FNWL and Wholesale Soap Supplies anyone else?
  20. Any of you use this service? is it a good deal ot not?
  21. I'm no expert but to me the green top looks like a sugar scrub cubes recipe.
  22. My point exactly...I live 50 miles away from DC, so yes it is empty... Didn't I read something on this board and other web site about these ladies (can't remember their names) who just went to DC a few weeks ago to represent the industry??? http://www.craftserver.com/forums/showthread.php?t=92790
  23. Not to burst anyone's bubble but going to Washington when the place is empty and meeting with staffers who really couldn't care less and don't even know what they are talking about is not a good sign. I'm afraid that it is too little too late... http://indiebeauty.com/ has a video posted on you Tube about the data base for safe cosmetics I don't see how any small business can survive a review by these people. It is sad because a lot of people are going to be out of business in this bad economy but who cares...as long as our elected officials keep getting their paychecks everything will be fine.
  24. This not about labels it is about getting rid of the natural, handmade and organic competition. This bill is sponsored by the big cosmetic companies...but calling it safe cosmetic act makes it sound like the little guy who opposes it is making unsafe products.
