  1. I live in Va and in my county I had to register my business name with the County Clerk. So that may be worth a phone call.
  2. This morning in the news: "Post office hemorrhaging money" really? I have 3 Post Office locations in my area and they all have different hours.
  3. Sure you can complain but do they care? Here I have had my mail lost, packages damaged on the way out, packages returned to sender for no good reason, my mail is constantly being delivered to my neighbors while I get theirs, I even found my letters on the ground a few feet away from my mail box and once I found my neighbor's mail on my front lawn. Yes, I have complained to the Post Master who really doesn't give a you know what...My mail lady's excuse is that I get too many packages. These are Gov. jobs with pension plans and health care benefit you would think that people would be glad to have good jobs.
  4. I have used the KY Para Soy Tarts/Votives for years and never had any problems with it. The case of para-soy I am working with now came from AH. I haven't changed anything but I get dimples on top of my clamshell tarts and one of my votive had a sink hole. So I tried to pour at 150 and still got dimples is it me or has anyone else noticed the same thing with AH wax? I am thinking of going to a votive wax that does not require a re pour any suggestions?
  5. In either case the SGK will not recover from this one and people are going to look at it twice before they contribute. It is a moral dilemma and only you can decide what the right thing to do (for you) is.
  6. Stella is right. To become an LLC or a Corp. you need to go to your State's Website - You do not need a lawyer and you do not need to go to LegalZoom because you only pay more than you really have to. Then you get the Liability insurance in your business name. You also need to get a sale tax ID number - State's Department of Revenue You may have to register your ficticious name with your County - County Court You may also have to file for a home based business license - County
  7. With spigot - but why pay so much when you can make your own. I have 3 Presto pots with spigot. The Presto pot was $20.00 at Walmart and you can add the spigot yourself. Someone recently posted a link to the instructions, search the forum.
  8. I have bought from JS for years. They offer excellent customer service and fast shipping however many of her oils turned out to be weak. I have greatly reduced the amount of fragrance oils I get from them. I have better luck with NG and also have excellent customer service and fast shipping.
  9. We just got an Eden Pure Infrared Heater at Costo. I don't know how the electric cost compares to other means of heating but I really like it. it does not get hot and my cats like to sit on and in front of it. http://edenpureus.us/inc/sdetail/1810?gclid=COnh68KR_a0CFUmMtgodPWQDvg
  10. And that is great for you but the reality is that very few people will make that amount of money on candles. But when I read post on people getting into the candle business because they think that they are going to make lots of money I feel the need to inject a dose of reality.
  11. I am looking for 1 oz glass bottles with treatment pump for liquid foundation, I have checked all my suppliers and can't find what I am looking for.
  12. Ok, the question you should be asking is how many of us here make $100,000.00 a year in profit...anyone?
  13. I am on Etsy and the fees are getting outrageous - listing + transaction fee...they are headed the same way e-Bay went. For the price I paid last month I can get my own website for a whole year. Artfire is a better choice than Etsy.
  14. Why? Because you want to put an excellent product outhere. You also need to think about the liability....Janet puts it very well. It took me 2 years before I felt comfortable selling my candles and the first thing I did was to get insurance. My insurance agent recommended an LLC because your personal asset will be separated from your business asset = if you get sued they can only go after your business. I started my business 10 years ago and I have seen a lot of people come and go. In all honesty this is an expensive business to get started, the cost of supplies and shipping the supplies keeps rising while the market is saturated by people who make candles (no offense to anyone on this site), there is a lot of competition and in this economy your effort may not pay off. So if this your passion go for it but if this is a way to get extra income think about it twice.
  15. There is no way I can ship the next day. These are 40 items all in custom scents.
  16. Just tought I would update - The woman is real alright she placed a huge order and 2 days later wondered why she hadn't received it. She called me at home twice, left me 2 e-mails and commented on my Facebook page. I just hate it when people do not read my terms and turn around time and go frantic because their order does not magically appear in front of them right away. I shouldn't complain business is business...
  17. I guess some people would rather smell poop! How about a nice can of Lysol for the bathroom and some kind of perfume spray for you to trick your nose just in case your co-workers don't use the Lysol.
  18. Backwoods Coconut Curry Custard, Lemon Cream Puff and Tin Roof Sundae are very good, I also like their Croissant and Hazelnut Coffee (not a bakery?) In Soy I have had good luck with NG (not in Pa) - Their 7 Up Pound Cake, Lemon Meringue, Key Lime Pie, Fudge Brownies, Apple Dumplings, Carrot Cupcakes, Banana Pudding, Whole Wheat Bread. I have not tried their Red Velvet Cake.
  19. Got a $300 + order on my Etsy site paid with Paypal. This is for a US address the payment status is completed, however this address is unconfirmed and the seller protection says partially elligible ??? This person does not have any feed back or other transaction on Etsy. Any advice on this one?
  20. I am pretty sure it is not SKS, it is one of the few places I have used my new credit card over the last 6 month and have not had any problems.
  21. The first time it happened I was sure it was CS and the second time I suspected AH or Nashville Wrap but it is almost impossible to figure out where it came from. However I haven't bought from these 3 suppliers using my credit cards only prepaid cards. Also be carefull when using a debit card because in case of fraud you are better protected with a credit card than a debit card.
  22. Not again! I was hit twice last year on my business card so now when I buy supplies it is either Paypal or a prepaid card.
  23. Do a search on this site, I remember reading about someone buying their gel on ebay.
  24. At least a year but I have FO's that are 6 years old and still great.
