  1. I would be interested in a co-op possibly but cant seem to get them to send me a sample. The said they mailed it to me but nothing has arrived as of yet. I would really love to see if it would fit and how it would look on my jar...
  2. Can anyone recommend a good fresh cut grass. Thanks so much.
  3. I got a bottle from Backwoods. Although I loved it OOB, I couldnt get it to throw well in soy.
  4. My favorite one so far is Georgia Peach from Sweetcakes
  5. Its so funny I read this post tonight. Just earlier today I was at my wax supplier picking up a new wax and while she was getting my order rdy, I was smelling all the FO tester bottles that she has sitting out and I couldnt fine ONE that I liked. I probably smelled like 30 of them and all I could think was ...eh.... They all just kind of smelled sort of generically same.
  6. Can someone recommend a good place to order a soap stamp from?
  7. Im sure its because of our crappy hard water here but does anyone else find that melt and pour soap leaves behind a white, chalky film on your skin after using it? I have tried the SFIC base, essentials by catalina base, Brambleberries base and life of the party base. If I just take a shower with the soap, its fine but if I take a nice long hot bath, then without a doubt, about 20 min after I dry off, I notice this white, chalky film, especially in the lines of the palms of my hand. My cp and hp soaps do not do this, just melt and pour.
  8. Hi Jackbenimbal

could you point me in the direction of where you get theelastic cords that you use to attach your labels? I checked at a craft store and wedding supply shop but they didnt carry it. I would like to use it on my prim mason jars.

    Thanks

    p.s. Loved your youtube video!

  9. So, I went down to the basement today and unboxed old candles made 2-3 years ago. (These are all candles that were previously burned anywhere from 1/4-3/4ths of the candle). The soy ones all had a general "candle" smell to them, but the palm ones still held onto their original scent. Granted this was just me sniffing them cold and not burning them at all but I thought it an interesting observation none the less. Has anyone else noticed that soy candles lose their specific FO scent after 2-3 years? I dont think its an important issue as far as usability or sales goes as I cant see someone holding onto a candle for 2-3 years before they burn it but I'm wondering none the less.
  10. I too like El classic soy. I've had the best luck using EL thus far for container candles, however getting the pour temp just right can be tricky when first using it. I've read here on this forum from another member in the past that "Beanpod" candles are made form El classic. I wonder if thats really true?
  11. So Im getting rdy to order a NG oil that I like very much (Mrs Clauses Cookies). I would like to try one other oil thst would be good for Christmas. Can someone reccomend one pls. Thanks pixie
  12. Yes cc coconut macaroon is awesome. I highly recommend it. Ive also soaped it in the past with great results. My next test will be to see if I can back the Fo amt down to .5 and still get a great HT. I love this FO but it is pricey!
  13. Everything is really beautiful. I love the carving candles especially. I know they arent as popular know as they were years ago but I absolutely love them and would love to learn how to do them one day. Everything on your fb page looks really nice.
  14. The candle gods must be smiling down on me, I am finally happy with a tart I made. <doing the happy candle dance> It is a mix of ecosoya pb and gb 416 with cc fo coconut macaroon at .75.
  15. 415 is very difficult to wick, at least for me. Ive had an easier time wicking the 464.
  16. Yes I wish they would carry cd wicks and i wish they would carry palm wax again.
  17. Thank you classiccandle! I ordered a sample and am anxious to see how it will look on my candle. They are too pricey for me but I may be able to craft something similar.
  18. Hi Traok, I think we have all been where you are now. The testing phase is long and arduous. I always add my FO at 190 and stir for at least 3 min. Hope that helps and best wishes to you.
  19. Does anyone know where I can find a lid similar to the ones in the following pics? I would love to find something similar for my glass tumblers. http://www.etsy.com/listing/100382704/60-premium-scented-palm-candles-in-a?ref=sr_gallery_10&ga_search_query=palm+candle&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_ship_to=ZZ&ga_min=0&ga_max=0&ga_page=2&ga_search_type=all http://www.wantist.com/products/fir-blue-sage-soy-candle-by-sydney-hale-co
  20. I see allot of posts from new people and some not so new that have a hard time getting a good throw. I thought I would name a couple of scents that I have no problems getting a good throw. Peppermint and Chocolate For me, whenever I make a candle using a FO that has either peppermint or chocolate, I know I will have an easier time finding a wick, they will burn nice and will throw strong. Hope this helps.
  21. Thank you Horsescents. I did try to order and the website wouldnt let me, however I called the phone number on their website and that while they would not ship the jars to my local walmart, they would to one that is about 2 hours away from me. So not what I was hoping for but at least its something. I like the idea of those jars but with other glass available locally I dont think I will get them after all.
  22. For me, candle making is a hobby (a very expensive one). I love love love making candles for just me and my family. I like everything about learning the subtle and sometimes not so subtle differences in the many available waxes and figuring out the fickle nature of certain jars and wicks. I hope to one day try selling some of my candles at my existing business but if that never happens, I would be perfectly okay with that too. However, I dont think I could ever see supporting myself through candle sales. With that being said, I'd like to ask, how many here are able to support themselves through their candle sales? For how many here is it your main source of income? If not you, do you know of someone who is successfully supporting themselves through their candle business? Im not talking the big candle corp like gold canyon, yankee, scentsy, etc. I mean a small crafter that grew their business.
  23. Where the heck is Stella? I thought she would for sure added her 2cents in along with the rest of us. Im getting to miss her and I hope she is still apart of this community.
  24. There are multiple posts here regarding tealights catching fire. Please dont consider selling those (or any other candle product) with out testing! Tarts will need to be tested first as well.
