  1. They turned out really well. The tester burned great! A little mushrooming towards the last of the wax, but not bad. But unfortunatly I can not show any pics because the guy I was living with (for ten years) has now stolen all my candles supplies and wax claiming that because we broke up that they belong to him because he paid for the majority of the costs. Yes, he did pay for them but we were a couple at the time and actually the supplies were bought under my business' name, and his name is not on my Business License. The cops say I can't take them out of the home, it's a civil matter but I think those supplies should come to me because I am the one who put the heart, soul and effort in to the candles in the first place. I want to cry because I am just so pissed! But for those of you who would like to try those coffee cups they did awesome!!!
  2. they did good. I will post a pic of the one I burned too.
  3. As most of you know I was recently told to pour my soy wax at cooler temps. I was pouring at 140 or so and frosting was my worst nightmare... couldn't seem to get rid of it unless I did my own parasoy blend, then I couldn't really advertise my candles as "soy" because they they had paraffin. Someone at a recent show suggested pouring at 100 and so far... all I have is beautiful candles with added BW which helps with the smooth tops. Not only did I get rid of the headaches and frustrations that came along with my darn candles, I got rid of an additional cost. Woohoo. Double whammie! I just poured 1/2 dozen candles. I will post pics in the morning. Night everyone!
  4. Well the coffee cup is close to 3" across and on this I tried CDN wicks and used a #10. It did really well. I am on my 3rd burn and the wick is not too big, which I thought it might be. But as I am sure you are finding out, what works me may not work for everyone. I am pretty sure the elevation and weather greatly efffects the results of your candles. When I say tweaking, I changed my temps back and forth, different additives and so on. This coffee cup candle only has vybar, beeswax and UV Stabilizer. I used to do my own 70/30 parasoy blend because of the frosting but I really liked the way this guy burned so I might stick with this formula.
  5. I get AccuSoy-10 From Swan's Candle Supply. Hated this wax when I first started making candles but after tweeking here and there it's the best that I have worked with.
  6. I was looking for something cute to do for the holidays and found these coffee cups at the Dollar store. I might dress them up a little with some sort of bow or ribbon. The burn pic is after 3 & 1/2 hours of burn time on 2nd burn. Awesome HT and CT. Opinions are welcome. The scent is Grandma's Kitchen from Cierra's Candles.
  7. It was fun up there. Didnt realize it was as big of a deal as it was. My mother and father in law, Larry and Sindi held a bizarre at the grange across from the church.
  8. Another thing soy327... i got very frustrated with this wax in the very beginning. Almost quit all together. That was 2 years ago. You will find your own grove. What works for one person may not work for another. One thing I have learned is you have to have patience and determination with this craft. Its not a fast hobby to begin with but once you get it, you get it. But sounds like you are on your way
  9. I use CD wicks with Accu 10. Some day may try CDN's but for now the CD's have been good to me.
  10. I was recently at an event on Spokane, WA (Greenbluff for any of you who know the area) and took some of my candles to sell. I make my candles with Swan's Accu-10. Normally I heat to 160, and add FO and dye but very often would get frosting. A lady up there suggested that I heat to 130, add scent and dye at 120 and pour at 100. I thought no way! Those temps are two low.... well Now I bite my tongue because those temps produce an even better candle. Every time! I guess my point is this no matter how much you think you've gotten this down, there's always room for improvment.
  11. I live in Washington too and when I first started making candles, I used this wax. It was ok at first but then I got hooked on Accu-10. I have really good results with the Accu both on it's own and as a parasoy candle. I didn't notice much of a scent throw between the Accu and the Coconut. They were about the same.
  12. I do a 50/50 with pure soy and 4630 and was having sink holes so I tweaked it a little. I heated it only to 170 and poured at 155 and had no sink holes. Will try again today. No wet spots either. FlightofFancy, what did u heat the wax to? So we had very similiar results, which is a good sign. I think anyway, LOL.
  13. This is the only jar I have had to go up to cd4's in a long time. I didn't really want to. MOST of my jars take only 2 cd2's. I have been burning this candle again today, meltpool is slower and more shallow in depth today. The jar is barely warm. It's been 3 hours and the MP hasn't even reached the diameter of the jar yet.
  14. I'm gonna have to try a cd20 by itself. Now I'm curious
  15. OK, so this is after 2 hours of burning. The jar is just warm to the touch, not hot at all, my melt depth has stayed consistent at this depth. No Soot, No Shrooms. Great Scent Throw.
