  1. Sandra, I will try to email you my results tomorrow. I didn't forget you and Carole. I had a lot of ceramic candle containers to get out over the holidays. To make it brief, the cases of 6006 I got from CS is good. I have burned 12 different containers and scents and wicks with very good results. I will send you more info tomorrow. Sorry for the delay. Rae:undecided
  2. I triple wick my 4" containers. One reason is because I get a more even burn than with 2 wicks. If I wick up to use 2 wicks then my jar gets too hot to touch.
  3. I do pour at 150-153 and I do not chill my molds. It's weird because it doesn't happen all the time.
  4. Thanks, Eugenia! I used to only use 1/2t per pound and just started with 1t per pound. Thanks for your reply.
  5. I use 1274 with 1/2 oz/pp FO. I heat to 185-190, add dye, FO and 1t/pp SA. Sometimes I get a cake like film on the candle and you can see where some of it is still in the mold after removing it. I don't think it's the FO because I did a lot testing colors and didn't use FO. Any idea what causes this? TIA
  6. Candle Science is in NC, which is closer to you. They do not mark up the shipping and if you order by 3pm it ships the same day. I get my orders in 2 days from them. They have the best customer service. Good luck and have fun!
  7. I'm impressed, Carole. How long does it take that turkey fryer to melt the wax? About how many pounds of wax does it hold? I'll PM you later on the 6006 testing. Rae
  8. Sing me up if you do. I love your candles.
  9. Scented....you are the most talented person I have ever seen. That candle is gorgeous! When is your next class?
  10. I don't believe soy will be rustic. I use IGI 1274 and love it. Rustic are a lot of fun to make. You never know how they will turn out. Have fun. Rae
  11. I have bought from them for over 8 years. I used to live in Dallas and was able to pick up all my supplies. I'm on vacation in Texas right now and tried to do a pick up. If they had had the jars in stock they woule have let me pick them up. The lady told me they had changed their ordering process and now all orders are placed through California. She gave me an estimated shipping cost from California to Georgia and it wasn't all that bad.
  12. I have always bought my containers from Riekes in Dallas. I am in town now and called them and the orders now come out of California. I was not able to pick up the 24 dozen cases while I was in town. Tom Moore is great to work with and will give you a good deal. Rae
  13. Thanks for sharing the information. Rae:yay:
  14. I like the LX's the best with the 1274. Rae
  15. Thanks to everybody for their help. I have been out of the loop since last week. I am just now reading the replies. Thanks so much. Rae
  16. I didn't quote him on the large ones. I showed him a 48oz mold and told him that size would be $48. He just threw the $300 out. I actually think he would pay the $1500 plus. I know I saw candles larger than that at a gift market several years ago. I know I would never want to do anything that large.
  17. Yes, he knows. He has seen them on TV and has been to my shop and can't understand why I can't make them. I told him the average cost is $1 an ounce. He said, "it would cost me about $300? I said at least. Then he told me he needed 2 of them. He is willing to pay the price. I have seen the molds that are larger than that, I just can't remember where I saw them.
  18. Does anybody know someone who makes the very large and tall candles? Like 12" diameter and 5 feet tall? I have a customer that wants to buy 2 of them. I told him I would ask around. TIA Rae
  19. I like the wick pins the best. I feel the candle is more centered...or at least for me. We don't use the putty any more. It was too messy. We put metal tape on bottom and we have no leaks. I agree it's just a personal preference.
  20. Is there anybody out there doing the class and can see the instructions? Rae
