  1. Hi, This is just an idea I've had,I'll probably try this one out myself. I went to there web site, beautiful candles there, and did some research on my own. Here's the idea... Make your pillar white,Ivory.some light colors. That's now your core candle. After it's been completed, leveled off and such keep the wick a little longer then you normally would.Something to hold on to while your working, without touching or smudging the core candle. When it's ready have some flat as thin as possible "Polymer Clay".your color choice. You could then cut out different shapes,Starts,Hearts,Moons,Animals. Then take the sheet of flattened Clay and carefully wrap it around your pillar.Trim the edges, smooth the clay seam with your fingers.Trim the wick to the correct size. And your done.. That may not be the exact look that your wanting it's just an idea. I do know that Polymer comes several colors and forms. They have special tools you can buy for sculpting. Seems to me that's the less messy way to get that beautiful windowed look.I mentioned the Polymer because of it's being more flexible to work with then a separate waxed outer shell that might not stick to the cored candle,it will probably be too brittle and fall off,The Clay sticks, and stays that way. Here's an addy for the clay,it's the best one I have found yet. http://www.polymerclaysuperstore.com Good luck to you on your quest.Be cool! Munky.
  2. Hi, I had forgotten to take pictures of that,It's been burning for 5+ hrs every day for a week now.And I wonder why it dripped!.Doh'! Doh'! Doh'! I really should have scented it,but Poinsettia's don't have a scent. I'm open for suggestions Thank you for the compliments,I gave it a try,and after asking how to do it,it really would have been rude on my part not to post a follow up on it.It was just an idea.Time permitting today,I'll probably get back in there and create a new design I've been thinking about. That one took 2 days to assemble.I just look for work don't I? Thanks again Munky.
  3. Hi. Well here it is,I had to get a little clever making the leaves.I used carved wax for those.*Note to self* Never let the kids use the cookie cutters..There gone.LOL! This is just a proto..it did melt the leaves a little, forgive the dripps.Maybe next time it will be better. Thank you both again for the suggestions. Munky
  4. Hi, I made some Palm Wax Tapers not to long ago,Not too sure if this is what your customer is looking for. I have to admit, they burn terrible.Looks pretty unlit.smell good as well. But I found burning them they went up like a torch, and had no scent throw.. Burners beware.. The tapers are from left to right..Using a Taper Mold. Chunked,Solid peach, Green Iced,Solid Cranberry,Last two sets are Blacked Iced as well Munky.
  5. Hi, Candlewic has taper dipping systems, that you could check into,to see what one would be best for you.As far as the Turkey Fryer as a double Boiler,I'm clueless to help you there. Not exactly clueless just *Chicken* I use a large chefs pot as a double boiler, just place something sturdy at the bottom that will keep the vats off the very bottom of the pot.I learned that the hard way Besides the wicking, seems like your pretty well set. Good luck. Munky. www.candlewic.com
  6. Thank you both for the tips.I'll give them a try Munky.
  7. Hi, Not having a Poinsettia mold to go by.Anyone here know how I could make just the Leaves of a Poinsettia? I'm looking to make the larger and smaller leaves,to be then applied to Tapers.Kind of an Appliquéd look. Any ideas? Thank you Munky
  8. Hi, Using a filled container for melting wickless candles can be very dangerous! HUSBANDS FREAK OUT!!!!!:laugh2: You guys might think this is funny after you read just what happened here Sunday morning. I read and checked out the Candle Warmers, thought Oh that's cute Read on to the wattages of them. This is where the trouble began. My son was just complaining that I never use my coffee cup warmer he bought me for Xmas I have it on my desk, usually keep a can of soda on it,but any whoo.I checked the wattages on that,it was lower then the lamps. So I took it into the living room, placed a container on it, (Palm Wax) turned it on walked away.Asked my husband to keep an eye on it. Hubby's watching his beloved Packers Play,I think they won. All's going well.My Golden Retriever has forgotten that I'm his favorite chew toy (My Elbows) It was a great Sunday morning Not 20 minutes later,I'm busy working in the kitchen and I hear.. HEYYYYYYYYY SOMETHING JUST SNAPPED IN HERE!!!!!!!!! I had my suspicions about what he was talking about, but wasn't in any hurry to own up to my mistake either:cool2: Well the container had snapped, shattered, leaked all over the warmer, and glass table top There was no room for the melted wax to go.we found pieces of shattered glass 2 ft away.Luckily noone was hurt, that wax was extremely hot. I have learned my lessons well.I hope noone here try's that stunt at home like I did.Be careful. Munky.
  9. Hi, I have B/C's "Pine Plantation" It's pine scented alright,so is the the floor cleaner I bought at the store! On the good side it does have a good scent throw, hot or cold.A little bit goes a long way. It's pretty strong stuff. Good luck. Munky
  10. Alrighty... Try adding some Vybar to your wax.I use 1 teaspoon per pound of wax. Working with the dyes, start out by adding just a few drops at a time.Mix and then test it by dropping just a little bit onto some wax paper. When it hardens up that will be the color. Hope this helps. Munky
  11. Hi, Not knowing what type of wax and dye your using is a problem.Knowing that I'm sure there are plenty of people here that will jump in and help you. Munky
  12. Hi, Thank you for posting your outcome here I was thinking of combining them both as well to see what happens, you saved me from another headache Palm wax has been too problematic for me to even think about adding so much as a votive to my line.As a matter of fact,I have 150 pounds of it that will be shunned to the garage today. That will learn it! Thanks again Munky
  13. Hi, Is that glass or plastic? If it's glass I'd use any wax that's compatible with containers.Fill it but not all the way to the top. It is a pretty dish GIMME!!! You could use it as a candle holder,Glass beads/Rocks around it.Maybe a nice handmade soap dish..I see possibilities Good luck. Munky.
  14. Hi Michi, Not sure where your from..Have you tried Dollar stores? They usually have large selection of Bags/party supplies. No minumum orders either! That's always a plus. Nashville Wraps has all kinds of goodies on there site, Hope this helps.www.nashvillewraps.com Munky
