  1. I know it's not Spearmint, but I use Peppermint & Eucalyptus from CS and its a great seller for me. I have been selling it for almost 2 years now and it seems to be a seasonal thing. People start to show interest in it about now through February or so. Right around the same time as cold and flu season...
  2. I have tried a few of them in candles and most were excellent. Off the top of my head, the fragrance I have tried in wax are... Lavender Fields ( a very true lavender) Orange Blossom (Neroli type) Summer Strawberries True Mysore Sandalwood Rosemary & Mint Green Crisp Apple Lemon-a-Peel I have tried a lot of there other fragrances in soap and they are wonderful!
  3. Peak's peppermint is perfect if you want a smack you in the face strong peppermint. It's the type that makes your nose tingle and opens your sinuses. I actually really like it but it didn't sell well for me. I've already started selling Bert's Candy Cane this year which smells like peppermint but without the sharpness too it, it actually seems to mellow out once its cured. It has been selling really well for me! For cinnamon my new favorite is AH Cinnamon Styx, I have tried a ton of cinnamon fragrances and this one to my nose is the perfect blend of spicy and sweet.
  4. I love the earthiness of the colors!
  5. I also agree with CS Very Vanilla, it's very buttery, creamy and rich. Just be prepared to have a milder Vanilla for customers who don't like the vanilla explosion!
  6. I use the hex jars as well and have looked for an overseas supplier in the past to save money, but most require a very very large minimum (like a truckload worth). We still get our jars from Candlescience since I order alot of fragrances and all of my wax from them and just order 96+ cases at a time for their best rate. I think in the future I'm going to stop using the hex jar altogether and switch to an anchor hocking container. I just started buying directly from them for my larger jars and it is much cheaper with the amount of jars we buy than from any other source.
  7. Could it be that Wick it uses a different coating on their sample wicks than wicks unlimited? I'm not really sure, just guessing. I've never used Wicks Unlimited but I do use Wick It, and I know when you order from them they give you 4 coating choices for your wicks... Standard Paraffin, High Melt Paraffin, Natural Wax, and High Melt Natural Wax.
  8. Pumpkin Souffle from CS has an awesome hot throw in GG.
  9. I'm burning Orange Clove from Millcreek right now and it smells wonderful!
  10. I am also burning my tester for this for the first time today in palm wax. I completely agree that the hot throw is excellent and it smells wonderful! I will definitely be adding this one to my line.
  11. I second Bert's sensational pine it's my favorite so far. Me and the hubby are huge pine scent fans and so I'm always ordering new ones to try. I also just recently tried Alaskan Wilderness from AH/RE and I really like this one as well. I think it is more of a fir needle type scent, but it's still divine.
  12. In my current house the main living area is a combined living room, kitchen, and dining area and there are very tall vaulted ceilings that measure 14ft in the tallest areas. It is rare that I can find a scent that will throw well in this room in my smaller sized candles. But the larger apothecary style candles which are doubled wicked will throw well in there. In my bedroom on the other hand which still has about 10ft tall ceilings and is fairly large but not too bad, I can get most any of my smaller candles to throw. On a positive note though I am now a lot pickier about which scents I allow to make it through final testing. I would say only about 1 in 10 scents I test actually make it.They have to have a really awesome HT!
  13. I love your swirls, they are so pretty!
  14. For some reason I have been in the mood for Holiday scents which is a good thing I guess since it's testing time for them. My favorite so far is Cranberry Spice from BCN. I'm also testing Peaks new Orange Blossom which I'm so excited about, and it smells awesome! The HT is very strong and it smells about as close as you can get to orange blossom. I have been looking for a good orange blossom forever and I think this is going to be it!
  15. I've always multiplied my cost times 2 for wholesale and times 4 for retail, although since the prices on many things have gone up in the past year and my prices have remained the same its more like times three for retail now. Also when I've been approached by larger retailers like AJ's (similar to whole foods) they want to be able to markup products so they at least have a 60% profit margin. So for a 10.00 candle that you charge 5.00 wholesale, they would instead charge around 12.50.
  16. I always had a problem with the fuel smell in palm wax too, which was such a bummer because it smells divine!
  17. Has anyone had a problem like this with Mal's? It's been more than 24 hours without a response from them via E-Mail and my website shopping cart has been down that whole time since my user id isn't working. I was just able to login the day before yesterday and than yesterday nothing. It says "ERROR: Userid not found: C4268468" on my website. I'm starting to wonder if I've been hacked or something, but of course it's difficult to say without a response from Mal's.
  18. I have been using Mals E Commerce for quite a while now and while I have been happy with them up until now, something has happened that has caused my account to be deleted. I have no idea why? I would be willing to bet that it was a mistake and they will be able to reopen it, but at the same time I now realize that mal's has no phone support and I have to wait for a response by e-mail. I can't afford to wait for an e-mail response when I could be missing orders. Especially when I don't know if they've deleted all of my info as well like the 300+ products I have uploaded to their server. So I would rather look for a new provider and start rebuilding my cart ASAP. Anyways, enough of my babbling... Who do you use for your shopping cart provider besides Mal's? The only stipulation I have is that they have to be compatible with Website Payments Pro. Thank you all in advance! I'm going to go take some advil now as I can feel a headache coming on at the thought of all the work I have ahead of me :lipsrseal
  19. If you wanted to be sure that it was the FO (which is the most likely cause) make an unscented candle in the wax that you are using and burn that. Than you will have your answer :smiley2:
  20. Those chunk pillars came out beautifully, and the layered mason jar candles are adorable!
