  1. Great price unless you are going to buy in bulk directly from SFIC and then you still have to figure in the cost of shipping. For me $2.99/lb is cheaper than even the last co-op that was run here for the SFIC bases. I paid $2.20/lb for the Goat's Milk + hostess fee + shipping. You can bet I'm all over this pre-buy and am stocking up!
  2. Key Lime! I used to use the Key Lime Pie from Snowtop but when I got a sample of the Key Lime from Peak I've never looked back.
  3. I'm getting fantastic results with the scent throw from both of these blends. I'm not really noticing much of a difference at all in the scent throw between the blends, it's fantastic in both. The only reason I started testing 50/50 is because with the 70/30 the darker colors still frosted just a bit. Since 50/50 doesn't frost and 70/30 does, I'm going to try 60/40 next and hope that it will be MY sweet spot.
  4. I'm testing a 50/50 and 70/30 blend and am finding that if I pour at around 150 I never have to do a repour and get great glass adhesion. I'm using C3 and 4630.
  5. I've been testing the pillar/votive wax from Candlewic and am really liking it so far. It's an all natural wax but they don't give you the waxes/ratios that are used. http://www.candlewic.com/store/Product.aspx?q=cNatural+Waxes,p766 There site says "blocks" but I got the 55 lb case and the wax is shaped like little round pellets that are flat on one side.
  6. Wow! I've been using the same 8 Pyrex cups in the microwave for over 4 years and have yet to have one break/crack/explode. Now I'll be paranoid. LOL
  7. My best guess is they don't clean them because of the fear of them rusting. Of course, they could have at least heated them up and let most of the wax melt off and then wiped them down.
  8. Yup, I twist mine and pull it up in a clip. I've spent so much time in my candle room here lately that this hair style is the norm and the only time it's down is when I leave the house. :embarasse
  9. Does anyone know if the round aluminum molds they sell are flat or concave?
  10. That was my first thought too. It's elegant, but I can't read it.
  11. I use the ones from Paper Mart and they are not raised. Link
  12. CandleScience sells a Hansel and Gretel's House. I bought a bottle last month and it is the exact same OOB and in wax as the bottle I bought last year.
  13. If the FO's have a the 3 leaf rating then you can be pretty much certain that they are going to be excellent in soy. Those leaves are their soy rating.
  14. I don't normally post in these soap porn threads because I'm so envious of all of you soapers but I couldn't resist this one! Absolutely gorgeous!
  15. Thank you all for the suggestions. I'll be giving a few of these a try.
  16. Got the eyeshadow and gave a set a try last night. I slept with it on to test the staying power and when I got up it was still on. It blended easily, for some reason I was expecting a creamy type of makeup but it's actually powdery. It was a little tricky applying the first eye but the 2nd was easier. My personal opinion is
  17. I did light them and while the scent throw was awesome I just couldn't get past the little puffs of black smoke. I haven't given up but I'm not going to drive myself crazy trying to perfect these either, I poured them purely for curiousities sake.
  18. I poured my 1st 100% paraffin candles earlier this week. I used 1 lb of 4630 and 7% FO, no other additives except 2 drops of dye. I started test burning 2 of them today. I went with the wick guide from CS since paraffin is a new ball game for me and what I'm wondering is if the CS recommendations seem on track to those of you that have mastered this wax? I poured a 10 oz tumbler that is 3 1/4 diameter and used HTP 73. The 2nd is a 4 oz tin that is 2 1/2 diameter and I used HTP 62. I started out testing these with an LX 16 in the 10 oz and an LX 12 in the tin but those didn't even come close so I switched to the HTPs. The HTPs aren't doing the job either. I guess my real question is ..... is the CS wick guide way off or could something else being going on?
  19. A water blue and medium gray popped into my head just from reading the name.
  20. Thank you all for the advice. I'll be lighting these babies later this afternoon to see how they do.
  21. I'd have to say that mine has been a lopsided combination for the past year. Before then it was strictly business but my priorities have changed a lot over the past year.
  22. Which soy wax are you using? The type/brand of wax is a big determining factor when it comes to wicking.
