  2. I'd think that if it isn't secured to the bottom.. once the melt pool was large enough that it melted to the bottom of the jar, the wick would essentially just fall over into the wax, extinguishing itself.
  3. True.... my soy doesn't make nice with the heat gun either.... but pouring slushy and tempering it before pouring has eliminated the need of forcing it to have a play-date with the heat gun.
  4. No, after much toil and trouble... I renamed Democrat.
  5. I'm all about NG's Yacht Club... very nice marine scent... very unisex.
  6. I think you'll really like the Democrat... it's one of my favs. I did it an almost neon-green citrus-y color. Very happy with how it turned out.. it matches the scent well. An orange color could work well for that one too. I was tempted to get the Grapefruit, but opted for the Yuzu instead... and that is amazing in soy.
  7. Wait.. didn't we just have a thread called "Train Wreck" a few days ago?
  8. Yup, the "curing" is exactly that.. just letting it sit around (and test your patience) before you burn. The longer the cure time, the better the hot throw... (generally... depends on the FO, as some FO's don't like Soy... check the FO'S FOR SOY sticky for some great starting places, though) I usually let a candle cure for at least 5-6 days before burning.. if I'm impatient, I'll wait 3-4 days... and I know if it's throwing alright at 3 days.. it'll only be better after 6
  9. Joy Wax is a blend, and not 100% soy.... Were you looking to go for 100% Soy, or just a soy blend? If you are looking for a 100% Soy, and need some pointers, PM me... I'm using NG's 100% soy flakes and can help you out if need be.
  10. I can't keep NG's Frangelico Streusel around... as soon as it's poured, it's out the door, it seems!
  11. Wow... 60 cents for a wick?!? A friend of mine bought one of the large woodwick jars. While the novelty of it was fun, watching the amount of soot shoot from the top of it while burning quickly turned me off to them.
  12. In The Mood is a winner for me.
  13. Let us know how the Independent and Republican turn out... I'm interested to see how those turn out. Based on just the descriptions on the site, Democrat was really the only one that made me want to try it... Now, I'm interested to hear how the others turn out...
  14. NG's Downy Vanilla Lavender type.... nice and soft... well, after it's set up.. it's gag-worthy while pouring... but what lavender isn't?
  15. Democrat is the only one from that list I've used. I quite like it. Smells a LOT like CK-One to me... (there's a large thread about this a while back)... Throws great in soy.
  16. I've got the Kama Sutra - In The Mood... and it's fantastic. Great throw in soy.
  17. Fern suggested the Yacht Club to me... and I'll put another vote there... it's a great one!
  18. If I'm overly anxious, I'll test after 2-3 days. Usually, I try to wait at least 6-7 days, though. If it's not throwing after 6 days, it's not worth it.
  19. "The Snozzberries taste like Snozzberries!" - Willy Wonka ..not Dr. Seuss, but close.
  20. I'm a huge fan of Thierry Mugler's Angels For Men... I used to wear the cologne, and found it at Save On Scents... grabbed a couple ounces of the regular low-quality SOS grade stuff just to see how close it was. Surprise surprise... it's dead-on... and throws great in 100% soy! Even at the SOS-Grade! Very sophisticated scent.. I love it!
  21. You might have more luck if you try looking for Abercombie and Fitch, not finch.
  22. HTP's, which I'm currently using, also tend to have an abundance of smoke after being blown out. I usually dip the wick to extinguish... but the issue of having others blowing them out is still a concern.
  23. I ran across the same problem when I first started pouring Metro jars... I've got the hang of it now, and know when to start letting up on the pour pot to get them even, and so that the lid will fit! It'll come with time. To get myself to that point, however... a easy trick is to mark the side of the jar with a dry-erase marker where you should pour to. I found it easier to mark just UNDER where it should be, then pour so the line was covered. Came out great doing it that way. HTH!
