  1. Sounds like I'll be doing some test-burning tonight to check this out, eh?
  2. But, then.... (begin devil's advocate mode) ...if that statement held true, wouldn't you have to re-cure every time you burned the candle and reached full melt pool??
  3. Okay, here's a silly question... I've got some tins that I made about 2 weeks ago, that I knew needed to be re-wicked. I'm just now getting around to melting them back down and repouring with the new wicks. Since these have been 'curing' for two weeks, is that process now null and void since I've got to melt them down completely and repour them? Or, will the hot throw still reflect that curing time? I have a feeling this is gonna have one of those *smack-forehead* "DUH!" answers... but, I'm feeling a bit braindead today.
  4. That's... uhm, interesting. Never seen anything like that before.
  5. How long did you let the candle sit ("cure") before you burned it? I haven't used that wax myself, so I'm not sure how long of a curing period it requires to have a strong hot throw.
  6. I have NG Gingerbread as well... and I love it as is... smells like honest-to-goodness fresh baked gingerbread to me. Passed a little 2 oz sample tin around to some friends, and 90% of them absolutely went nuts, asking me to make them large jars of it. I guess it's all preference!
  7. You've got frosting. Click the "Search This Forum" box and type "frosting" You'll find TONS of info.
  8. I know I'm still fairly new around here, but I think Meredith's answer above is right on the money. As many people that are here, that's how many different opinions you're going to have. In addition to her answer above, which I wholeheartedly agree with, I'd also like to add that it also depends on if you're after the perfect 'looking' candle, or if you're after the natural properties of plain soy (without parrafin blend). It's all a matter of taste, and what you can find that works best for you. But, definetley... find the supplier closest to you and start there!
  9. That's a very pretty booth... I would have spent some time there looking at EVERYTHING!
  10. Thanks for the info, guys! My pouring partner was eyeing that Celtic Moon Spice the other day... now it sounds like we HAVE to try that one! If you know of any other MUST-HAVE scents from them, please list them... I like to order a handful of scents at a time to make it worth it... (okay, to make it more like christmas when they arrive... I won't lie!)
  11. Thanks Luci... I appreciate it! I'm looking for a kickarse Yankee Clean Cotton dupe. I normally go through NG, and have heard/read great things about their Fresh Linen... but not sure if it's exactly what I'm after. Gonna have to get a sample next time I order!
  12. I'm looking around at other sites for oils, and came across this one. Has anyone ordered from here, give me any feedback (especially for FO's for soy) and I'd appreciate it! TIA! Edit: Add link: http://www.rusticescentuals.com/fragranceoils/default.html
  13. 6 drops of color should be enough to see SOMETHING... sounds like you've got some crap dye. The dye I use is noticeable after one drop! And if your wax is BOILING.. you've got it WAY too hot! You NEED to get yourself a candy thermometer...
  14. Just got a nice one from Kitchen Collection at the mall for $25. Reads lbs up to .005 and ounces in 1/8 increments.
  15. Nature's Garden here.. there so close to me, it's hard to go anywhere else.. and nothing has disappointed me yet.
  16. I recently got Jack Frost from NG... the cold throw is strong on the peppermint... but hot throw brings out the vanilla and softens is nicely.
  17. I recently ordered Jack Frost from NG... and it's great... cold throw is very strong on the peppermint... but once it's lit, the vanilla comes out and softens it quite nicely.
  18. A nice, light 'ice blue' would be an option, too... that would look nice in the snowmen. You could easily do a pure white, a light ivory, an ice blue... and red and green aren't too far off base, fitting with the Christmas theme.
  19. www.thejarstore.com sells cases of 36 in the 16 oz. size. Don't know how shipping would be to KY though.
  20. Thanks, Mindy... That's about what I figured... from reading the past discussions, I gathered a 3-5 day cure time would be sufficient... but that was based on soy blends. If anyone else wants to chime in on the subject, I'd be more than happy to hear it!
  21. Hello all, I'm new here... but I've spent DAYS reading up on all the old posts around here. I just did a search and read the back and forth arguments over cure times... but didn't find anyone discussing using 100% soy. Most arguments discussed using soy blends. Anyone here using 100% Soy (Mine is from NG) have some advice on cure times? I have 3 scents I poured yesterday... after 24 hours, the cold throw is quite nice.... hot throw is barely there, if at all. Any help for this newbie would be appreciated!
