  1. It aslo causes less shrinkage. I use OK6228/J50 for my tarts. Although OK6228 is a preblend, it shrinks like crazy and no matter how cool I pour, there is always a big dip in the middle of the tart. When I add J50 to it and pour around 150, I get nice smooth tops with no dips. I've also done this with straight paraffin and get the same results.
  2. If your glass is too hot, then you may have the wrong size wick in your container. If you wick it correctly, your container should be warm...even a tad bit hot, but not so hot that you can't pick up the container. I've wicked 4 oz hex jars using J50 wax with a CD-10 and they burned beautiful. What wax and what size wick are you using?
  3. I like to use both liquid and color blocks. Sometimes I can't achieve a very deep color with the liquids so this is where the color blocks come in. Also, some of the colors that I like, don't come in liquid, so I use the blocks for those.
  4. Oh you rat! You're not givin' up your secret to anyone, are you? Totally understand. I really do love those though.
  5. If you look at the label on the bottle of the fo, it usually states that it is for use in candles, gel, etc. and will also note if it is skin safe or not. I don't think you have anything to worry about, especially since you're only making tarts and wickless candles. I don't know exactly what type of fo would be considered not safe to use...perhaps an actual perfume? All I know is that you can use any fo that is candle safe and skin safe in wax. However, you can't use an fo that is made for candles in B&B, unless it says specifically that it is also skin safe. As far as gel is concerned, there are some fo's that will work for gel and some that don't. If you buy from a supplier, they will state whether it's good for gel or not. When your buying on the classy's, you should still have the labels attached to the bottles of fo's, unless the seller re-bottled them...then you'll never know for sure. If you're using the recommended amount of fo in your wax applications and using a standard warmer, you should have no problems exceeding the flash point.
  6. Those are real cute! What's the diameter on those? They look like they're pretty wide...I bet you'll have to double wick those.
  7. Great job! I especially like the dark red square pillar!
  8. I absolutely love your Victorian style ornies! Out of all the ornies I've seen thus far, those are the best! How'd you make those?
  9. I use 4045 and make the loaf candles and don't see how you could double wick these and expect them not to leave a substantial shell. I usually wick this mold with three LX-26's or 28's, or three CD-16's or HTP 104's.
  10. No...they do not all smell the same, although some do. Peak's Mediterranean Fig and KY's Mediterranean Fig smell entirely different. I prefer KY's since it's a slightly perfumey scent as opposed to Peak's which is more sweet and fruity. There's no way to ensure that each supplier's scent, although named the same, will actually smell the same. It's best to try a sample first, before buying any quantity.
  11. Save on Scents has the best Burberry dupes that I have tried. I believe they have most of them, however, I've only purchased Burberry Touch for both men and women and Burberry Brit for Women. Nature's Garden has a scent called Nantucket Briar which smells just like Burberry Weekend for women.
  12. These are my favorites from KY: Cool Citrus Basil Frosted Snow Drops Mediterranean Fig Raspberry Tomato Leaf Summer Breeze White Clouds Raspberry Blossom All are very strong and throw extremely well in my wax.
  13. Everyone seem to have their favorites. I prefer the LX wicks over most, however, there are times when they just won't cut it, so I also use HTP's or CD's, and the occassional RRD wicks.
  14. Those are sweet! I've got to get me some molds. Great job!
  15. You just need to be sure that the FO is "skin safe".
  16. I sell my shrink wrapped 1 oz tarts for $1 each or buy 10 get two free. People in my neck of the woods seem to like variety, but they won't buy any bakery scents, except for the very rare few, so I stopped making bakery scents all together. It's ok, because I don't care for them any way...except for a couple. If I packaged them in multiples of one scent, I'd probably have a hard time selling them because now they don't seem so cheap any more. People just don't seem to mind buying things that only cost a buck, so that's why they sell so well for me. It also helps to stock a nice variety of scents as well. I always try to keep the most popular dupes from Victoria's Secret, Bath and Body Works and Yankee Candle...along with the occassional designer scents to keep the young folks interested.
  17. If it was a 1 oz sample bottle then it's already been weighed...so, the next thing you can do is remelt it, stir very well and then repour it. If you don't keep it on the heat for too long you shouldn't lose much scent.
  18. Over half of my oils come from Nature's Garden. Too many to list here but you really can't go wrong with them. I've only had a couple that didn't throw strong in my wax, but came to life in body and linen sprays.
  19. Yes, it's true...lots of people hate Patchouli...let em have a go at some Nag Champa...I bet they'd hate that one even more. LOL I actually like it myself, but everyone else I know hates it...and they're the ones who also hate Patchouli and Sandlewood as well.
  20. Oxygen is great unisex scent. I bought it quite a while ago but I think I got it at Save on Scents. It's a very fresh and clean scent.
  21. I've heard that some people have trouble with JS thowing well for them...and it usually seems, but not always, that they had trouble with them throwing well in soy. I've gotten some samples for them and out of 20, I only liked 2 or 3 of them. It's not that they didn't throw well in my particular type of wax, I just thought they had a lot of artificial, or syrupy sweet notes to them...something that is just not appealing to me. But...there are other's on the board that just rave about them. I guess it all depends on what appeals to your own nose. Hope they do well for you!
  22. Give it a little time...some one will dupe it within a few months...if you can wait that long. Save on Scents seems to dupe things pretty quickly if a scent becomes real popular.
  23. Those sure are cute! Glad to hear that they're selling so well for you.
  24. Looks like you've got some nice smooth tops there. Good job! Hope it burns well for you.
  25. Yeah...it looks like a good one. Like Scented said, if it's already starting to hug on it's own, you shouldn't have to do anything else to it. Good job!
