I enjoy candlemaking, making scented sachets and soaps. I do more of the candles/tarts and scented sachets than I do soaps right now since I have yet to master this craft. I would love to eventually get into body products. I have 4 kids, am married and have been for 20 years to a wonderful man. I am the proud owner of 8 dogs, 7 cats, and 2 African Albino frogs. My house is a zoo so to speak but I love it! There is never a dull moment around here or a quiet one either!

Would like to swap some tarts or candles with others sometime. Also soaps once I feel comfortable in making them to where I would want someone else to try mine.

1. Thanks for the suggestions! I will check both of these out! Might get a sample of each of them to see which she prefers! I appreciate the suggestions!!
2. I am trying to find a very strong lily scent for one of my customers. I haven't tried this scent before so if anyone has any suggestions that would greatly appreciated. She is a very loyal customer who made this request & I would love to be able to make these for her! Thanks to anyone who has any suggestions for me.
3. I just received my order of 48 16 oz. bottles from WSP so for now I'm good on bottles. They didn't cost me that much so I think I will just stick to getting new ones & when I start getting low, place another order. I have a list currently of the oils I can get from them if anyone is interested. I don't have a scent description of them but most of them are pretty normal scents. They buy them in the large drums from a company that we can't buy from unless we are buying in those types of quantities. I'm not sure how much he has of each scent as he has told me he has only a few pounds of some to 25 lbs. or more of others. When I asked him why he was selling these scents they have an account using the "Hershey" line of candles & other retailers that have handpicked the scents they want to carry. When he gets down to 25 lbs. or less of scents he carries in the store that he is going to replace with another scent, he starts selling off the oils. I have bought 3 of them, just to make sure they are good oils & they are. The drums they come out of say "Premium Grade" on them & the supplier starts with an A, it has a Z, N & Y also.....I've never seen this supplier before. I am going back on Monday to get more oils for me so I can write down the name of the supplier. I found him on craigslist here & actually went to the company where he showed me around his entire operation. I've never been inside such a huge company like this. He was super nice & told me that if I had any questions for him to ask, he would answer them for me if he was able to. He gave me some great ideas as well as solutions to make my candles come out that much better. I was even able to watch them make several candles while I was there. Anyway, if anyone would be interested in the list of oils, send me a pm. I will let you know what he has. Daisymay66......Yeh I hear ya on how "rough" it is!! LOL!!! I'm willing to pass along my find though!! Price would include cost of bottles also.
4. Is there any way to remove fragrance oil from the bottle they were in so the bottle could be reused? Just curious b/c I have a local candle company that sells me their excess fragrance oils for $5/lb. or if they are discontinuing a fragrance oil they sell to me at the same price. There are times when they have glass apothecary jars they will use to put the oils in & other times I have had new empty plastic containers for fragrance oils. I didn't know if there was a way to clean out my empty bottles so maybe I could use them or not so if anyone can tell me that would be great! Thanks so much for any help with this!!
5. Thanks I will check WSP! I quit making the shower gel but now my people are asking for it again so I need to find a good base and really like the pearlized base because of how nice it looked when done.
6. Anyone know where to buy this? I used to buy from KY but they aren't carrying this any longer and I loved the look of the finished product.
7. Those look so nice! I love them! I've just now started to play with some of my m&p doing different things other than just solid coloring. Not brave enough to post any pics just yet but I will! I really think these look pretty and I would buy them!!
8. That's the same place that I've been with these jars. If I use the 62 zinc I can get the candle to burn all the way, including no hang up on the sides. The candle will burn all the way down to the top of the wick tab so I do have a little wax left in the bottom of the jar, maybe less than a 1/10 of an inch so I don't consider that to be bad at all. I hate testing!!! I know it has to be done though!!! I have a very clean burn using the zincs with my jelly jars which is why I have stuck with them and the jelly jars.
9. Thanks! These are the wicks I use when wicking my jelly jars and they work great for me with those jars. I will get me some CD wicks and try them. I had wondered if maybe a different type would be better. Thanks again for the help. I really like these jars and want to get a good burn with them. What would you suggest to use as a starting point with the 8 oz. tureens? I will get some of the CD8's for the 3 oz. I'm not familiar with these wicks at all. Any help there would be great. I have several sizes of the jars. Would it be better to use these with my jelly jars (have both 8 oz. and 12 oz.) and 10 oz. square jars also? I've used the zincs for so long that this will be a starting over process for me now. Any suggestions anyone can give would be great and I appreciated!
10. I'm just about at my wits end with these tureen jars! I have 3, 6, 8 and 11 oz. tureens. I've never used these before so I am just now getting around to testing them as far as wicking goes. I use GB415 w/ 1 oz. of FO per lb. My wicks I prefer and have been testing are zinc wicks. I have a variety of sizes: 44-20-18, 40-24-18, 44-32-18, 51-32-18, 60-32-18, and 62-32-18z. On my 3 oz. I have dbl wicked using the 40-24-18 and have got fairly good results w/ using these. I get a burn time of approximately 15 hrs which doesn't seem to me to be all that long but, they are small jars and not as tall as the jelly jars I am used to. I don't know if maybe I should be getting better times or not. I also tried single wick w/ 60 and it seems to burn slower, no wax hang up, etc. My main source of problem is coming in with using the 6 and 8 oz. jars, I've not started on the 11 oz. just yet. The 8 oz. I have dbl wicked using the 51's, get great burn as far as no wax hang up, full melt pool-the melt pool is faster than the time I should be getting as far as it taking less time that the jar is wide-the candles don't burn as long either as I felt like they should. I might be getting a little over 20 hrs. I have tried using the 60's on this jar and I get much longer burn time but, no full melt pool using these. I have tried the 62's, my melt pool is equalling the diameter of the jar as far as the time goes but, it is burning faster than the 60's which I expected and I am getting a lot more time out of them using the 62's than by dbl wicking w/ the 51's. I hope this is making sense so far. On the 6 oz., I am having about the same type of problems as the 8 oz. Do any of you use these jars and the zinc wicks with soy wax? I am testing the heck out of these to try to get the best burn time I can as well as the best and cleanest burn. I have used a variety of oils as far as that goes, too. When I am testing, I am testing the same scent in each jar w/ the various wicks so I can see what each candle is doing. That way I also know that the candles only difference would be the wick size. Is there anything else that you would suggest for me to try with these as far as the wicking goes? I can't remember right off what the burn times are with the tureens using the different size wicks. Since I am so used to using the 8 oz jelly jars and getting close to 40-45 hrs of burn time, should I expect to get less burn time with the tureens since they are shorter jars? I hope that I have explained well enough what is happening and gave enough information but if not, let me know and I will try to explain better and answer anything that I might not have covered. This is my first experience with these jars and I am stumped right at this point so any help would be greatly appreciated. I hope I don't sound like an idiot or am asking questions that are stupid ones, I would really like to use these jars b/c I like they way they look and they so much different than what I have used in the past. I like the change I guess from the standard jelly jar that I have always used. TIA
11. Mine are pretty boring considering the colors of the ones I've seen posted on here! I would love to know if m&p can get the swirl effect like some of the others can. I love looking at those soaps, they are so pretty and colorful!
12. This is my first time of posting pictures of my soaps. I use the clamshell molds and these are the Victorian molds. First picture is of all the ones I made yesterday. Second picture is of Shea Butter soap scented in Black Raspberry Vanilla using Berry dye from Celestial.
13. I didn't know that! I will have to check it out. If I can't figure out how to do it or am not able to find what it is on there I might send you a message! I'm not that great as far as using a computer goes so sometimes need "step by step" guidance! lol!!!:smiley2:
14. I have the option for them to send payment thru paypal or they can send money orders thru the mail. This way I can get the orders out faster, especially when they send the payment thru paypal. I'm doing a flat rate on the shipping depending on the order size or actual shipping w/o any handling fees, etc. I have enough product made up at this point to be able to calculate the shipping once I get the zip code to be able to let them know the total amount to send with shipping added. I am only offering personal checks to be sent using e-check w/ paypal, that way I know when the payment has cleared and it will save me from having to deal with checks not clearing the bank from NSF. I received another 4 orders in the past 2 hours, they aren't big orders ( $20-$25 each) but they are orders I didn't have before. I figured it doesn't hurt to try right?
15. I agree with Candybee, it is all in the presentation!
