It's hard to get clean lines because of bleeding. But if your wax isn't hot enough the next layer wont adhere. Try pouring a thin layer of wax, then let it cool, to act as a protective layer to prevent bleeding. After that cools, pour your next layer. HTH

Is the glass expensive and readily available, like at craft stores? I know it was said that the kit is at Hobby lobby, but there isn't one around here. I only have a Jo Annes and a Ben Franklin's locally, and a Michaels about 1 1/2 hours away. I've been interested in this for a long time but living in the boonies makes some hobbies difficult to get supplies for. I've never seen these items locally. THey may be at Michaels, never looked. TIA

I'm not sure what kind of exposure to lead is dangerous, but using paint with lead in it is illegal and you dont ingest paint. So that leads me to believe there may be other issues. But that isn't my main reason for posting on this thread. After making a great deal of jewelry, I noticed a lil sticker on the back of my stringing material that said, "Contains Lead". I've begun remaking all the stuff I made with this, just to be safe. For the most part none of the string is exposed and able to come in contact with my skin, but I dont want to take the risk. I just wanted to bring this to others attention so they dont make the same mistake.On a side note.....If you have questionable water, there's a system out called Zerowater that removes all contaminates. It's a 4 filter system (britia and Pure are single filter systems) and the water goes through one of the filters twice so its filtered 5 times. I took a seminar on this and it's the best out on the market. Most bottled water aren't filtered, and read higher on the contaminent meter than well and local tap water. Culigan wasn't much lower, and was about equal to brita and Pur filters. It currently doesn't remove bacteria, no filter does, but they are working on getting the patent on that system. You can find them at Home depot, not sure where else. And no I am not affliated with them or Home Depot, just wanted to share the info.

I have, and would again arrange for a public place to meet for her to met with you and pick up her order at a time and place you need to go to anyways. I would say something like, "I don't usually deliver but since your so close, maybe we can meet up. I plan to be at Wally World on Tuesday evening, would there be a convient time for you to met me there that evening?" If it's not a good day for them, maybe rework your scedule a little to accomidate them, and take someone with you. I would never met with them alone. That is until you really get to know them and feel confortable. This gives a personal touch, makes the customer feel special and saves them $ but your not causing any additional expense on your account. With every order I gave a sample of another scent they didn't order. Locals I usually give at least 2 and ask them to pass one on to a friend and throw in a few business cards. I also frequantly throw in a tart even if they don't purchase any. I take this opportunity to introduce this product, tell them the up sides of it's use, and where they can get a burner. A couple of ppl that were good customers I gave them a burner from the $ store and a tea light to get started, and they began buying tarts. So for the $1 cost of the burners turned into about $100 in sales to date on just the tarts that they hadn't even heard of before. HTH gl

Glad to hear that they gave you a raise, you deserve it. I'm very surprized that your accountant hasn't advised you to itemize. There are soooo many things that you can right off. If a room of your home is dedicated to the business, thats a deduction, business related clothing, your phone, internet, banking expenses, advertising expenses, office supplies such as ink etc, use of your vehicle, gas, cell phone, electric, heating, when you have to eat away from home, hotel lodging, postage, home security (even if you have a large breed dog, he can be considered security and his expenses can be a deduction) all your candle supplies and equipment etc, donations to charity are 100% write offs, retirement investments like 401k or Roth IRA's, plus there are probably many more that I either dont know of or aren't thinking of right now. I would at least have your accountant do it both ways and find out your best route. Can't hurt to try right? HTH and Best of luck with your new position.

I just found this thread, and I'm probably to late to be of any help, but thought I'd mention my thoughts. Insurance will still be a deduction for you, just not as big of one as your husband was getting. Another possible deduction, if your medical expenses total 7.2% of your gross income, they become a deduction as well. So keep all reciepts from Dr visits, pharmacy, lab work, ER visits, etc. These expenses add up. As for getting insurance being a raise, I don't agree. The insurance is part of a benefit package any full time employee gets, at least at most places. If they hired someone full time off the street, would they not get insurance? If the answer is yes, then how is it a raise? How is it given to you as a reward for your length of employement, dedication, knowledge, or service, when it would be given to anyone excepting full time work? Then on top of that, you already work there 2 days a week, so your only gaining 3 days of work. I think I would talk to them about cutting back your hours to part time during your busy times for candles. Especially if they dont give you a raise.JMHO

I love Cats Eye, and the blue is soooooo intense, the pic doesn't do it justice. THe second post is white and light pink pearls and crystals. THe color of the pink is sooooooo light its hard to tell the difference even up close.

I love this stone, Berriciated Jasper (spelling?) Here and there you'll see a lil bit of cream in it. I'd like it better if there was more, or no cream. Since there's so little it makes the pieces that do have the cream look out of place with the rest. Oh Well I like it anyhow lol.THese pics are of some other beaded jewelry I made. The purple rectangle is the one I have. I've used it to make scarves. I don't go the whole length of it though cuz they'd be way to wide. I've thought of making mutiple lonnnnnnnng ones and sewing them together with yarn to make a throw. Or a few short ones, and making a baby blanket cuz I have a new niece or nephew on the way. Do ya think that'd work?

Wow I can't believe you made all of this with a loom. I've only been able to make scarves with mine, but I don't have the round ones either. Which I assume thats what your using right? Very nice work indeed!
