  1. You did a wonderful job! I'm totally lovin' those! I too tried teaching myself to paint flowers using acrylics. I bought a book and practiced one stroke after another...it is much harder than it looks. Unfortunately, I didn't have the patience to continue and gave my book away and gave up on it. After seeing what you've created, I wish I hadn't. I'm jealous!
  2. Welcome Yhue! So nice to have you join us. We seem to be attracting more and more people from around the world. There are lots of very helpful and kind people on this board who are willing to help whenever they can, so don't be shy about asking questions.
  3. Straight soy can appear a bit frosty. I started out using soy and switched to paraffin for a number of reasons. Frosting, long cure times, and a lot of scents simply won't throw in soy...period. I guess it requires a great deal of patience waiting the appropriate amount of time for it to cure, be willing to throw out a lot of scents that will never throw in it, and be willing to buy other waxes to add to it to improve it's appearance. I guess I just don't have that kind of patience. If you are going to switch to soy, it would be wise to purchase fragrance oils from suppliers that state they have tested their oils in soy (KY Candle Wax Supply is one who provides this info, there are also others but I can't think of them off hand)...it will save you a lot of money in the long run. There are many on this board that love soy and do very well with it. It would probably be helpful to search the veggie section of this board and read some of their posts so that you can learn more.
  4. Out of that list I've only tried the Spring Rain. It was a nice scent, however, it threw pretty light in my OK6228/J50 tarts. I'm sure it was just my wax, because everything else I've gotten from them has been nice and strong.
  5. A CD-10 would probably do you right as well.
  6. Fabulous Basket and Candle! Great job!
  7. Scented: You did a great job with the colors! Looks just like a real toasted marshmellow would look like.
  8. Stacie: You did a great job! Nothing plain or boring about them. I'm sure everyone will love them.
  9. My favorites are: Nature's Garden Peak KY Candle Supply Save on Scents Tradewinds Most of my scents come from the first three suppliers I listed, but all are good.
  10. Check out Nature's Garden...they've got lots of spa type scents.
  11. Yes, I have gotten better scent throw double wicking, as opposed to single wicking, a larger container. Although a single wick may cut it, it may also take quite a long time to get a full melt pool, thus having to wait that much longer to get your throw. There are few wicks, depending on the type of wax you use, that you can use alone that will give you the results you are looking for, that's why I always double wick anything 3.25" in diameter or larger, especially when it comes to square containers.
  12. Yup, that happens a lot...that's why I gave up on using the palm and the other natural waxes. Try wicking down one size and see what you get. They sure are pretty though.
  13. Yup...it sure can make you sick. Black Canyon did that to me. It was so strong at 1 oz per lb that the fumes made me light headed and sick to my stomach. I poured it once and then never again...it was disgusting!
  14. Sliver: Nature's Garden has "one" scent, that I know of, that smells the same and that's the Twigs-n-Berries and the Tayberry and Teakwood. This could be an accident, or it could be that they are slightly different...but to me, they smelled the same. They do, however, have a lot of very good scents. How complex they are, I don't really know, but they certainly aren't all ordinary. I've gotten quite a few sophisticated, more upscale scents from them, then I have from other suppliers. Now there are plenty of other suppliers that offer an even a better variety of upscale/complex scents than NG, but when you're talking about a reasonable price and variety, I'd say NG is pretty damn good. And Michael...you are too funny! LOL I'm with you all the way on EVERYTHING you said about bakery scents! But then again, bakery lovers could say the same thing about the kind of scents that we like...so we're all even.
  15. Was just on the Nature's Garden site and they have Happy as well.
  16. I'm not a bakery person, nor do I care for vanilla...however, I do like some fruit scents, as long as it is not sweet and syrupy...I like a more sharp or tart fruit. Here's a list of non-bakery scents that I like, along with some fruit mixed in but nothing that is sweet and icky: KY Candle Supply Cool Citrus Basil (BBW) Frosted Snowdrops (BBW) MacIntosh Apple (YC) Mediterranean Fig (Not a sweet fruity scent at all, it's different from all the others I've tried) Moonlight Magic (VS) Pear Berry (BBW) Raspberry Tomato Leaf Summer Breeze White Clouds Raspberry Blossom Natures Garden 4-Leaf Clover Butterfly Garden (Glade Dupe) Coco Cabana Cotton Blossom (BBW) Country Clothes Line (YC) Cranberry Balsam Crisp Clean Air Downy Clean Breeze Green Clover and Aloe (BBW) Jade (Pier 1) Moonlight Path (BBW) Nantucket Briar (E&C) Oceans (Pier 1) Orchid Rain Pink (VS) Rice Flower and Shea (BBW) Spa Storm Watch (YC) Strawberries & Champagne (Nothing fruity about this one at all) Tranquil Sleep Twigs-n-Berries Very Sexy for Men (VS) Very Sexy for Women (VS) Wedding Day (YC) Peak Clean Cotton (YC) Country Garden Hyacinth (To die for!) Juniper Breeze (YC) Midsummer's Night (YC) Mountain Lake (YC) Spruce Christmas Tree Tall Grass Tradewinds Mandarin Bamboo Herbal Ecstasy These are my two most favorite scents in the world! Save on Scents Sunwashed Linen (YC) Coconut Lime Verbena (BBW) Fresh Comfort (YC) Ocean Water (YC) Issey Miyake That ought to get you started on non-bakery scents. LOL
  17. The polypro bags will have a stiff, shiney texture, while the polyeth will have a smooth, dull texture...like the regular zip lock bags. You want the polypro.
  18. I've had great luck with Save on Scents. SOS grade is good for B&B and "some" wax applications, but found the Ultra Concentrates to be best for wax. All the dupes I tried were dead-on and the throw was great!
  19. The only Bamboo scent that I have ever gotten...and is my all time favorite...and throws like crazy is Mandarin Bamboo from Tradewinds. Love, love, love this scent! They were out of stock for almost 8 months and just recently re-stocked it. It's got a citrus undertone to it but it's really nice, but might not be what you're looking for. Where did you see Blue Bamboo any way? You've got me curious. Edited to Add: I also got a Green Leaf and Bamboo from Save on Scents. It was another nice one as well...but more green, then anything else.
  20. I did a trade for some fo's and got Basil Sage Mint from BCN. I really liked this scent, it was very fresh and herbally...just how I like. So that's a good one...at least it was for me. Haven't tried any of the other ones you have on your list so I can't comment on those.
  21. I think it looks nice too, however, I do think the basket is a little too small for the items you have in there, unless you can re-position some items so that the glass container isn't sitting on the edge of the basket. I also really like Candle Freak's idea of using tulle to wrap the basket in...it would be more fitting to the occassion.
