Hi I'm wondering if some of you could help me with a question I have. I have quite spotty skin, and as I'm now in my mid twenties, it's getting kind of annoying! I've recently gotten into M&P soap and thought I'd try to make my own spot soap (nothing i buy works that well). I've tried a M&P soap with 5% Tea tree EO and it worked quite well, but am thinking there's other EOs I could add too. I've done some research and read that the EOs of Lavender, Rosewood/rosemary, chamomile, bergamot and geranium oil are good for acne. I'm just wondering if anyone could suggest which ones to try, and in what concentrations (as %). Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the offer, but at present I'm not wanting to buy any more scents, just wanting to know if I can still get the scent. I may take up your offer soon though (and when the pound perks up against the dollar!)

Hi thanks for the link. I've had a look and they seem to only have the chip version. I'm really after the powder dye, as it goes much further. Thanks anyway and yes you're right about pourette, very annoying they didn't sell up. Oh well

Hi I've had a sample of Candle Science's Jack Frost for ages now and I finally got around to using it recently. I found it fantastic and buyers seemed to like it too! There's only one problem - I was going to order some more but learnt that candle science no longer ships internationally. I've seen versions of Jack Frost around but the description sounds kinda different. So I'm hoping someone can let me know what shops sell a Jack Frost which is pretty similar to candle science. Hi I've been away from candle making for a while now, but got back into it over Christmas. Therefore, I've only just found out that pourette is no more! That's a shame as there were loads of moulds on there I wanted to try. They also sold powdered candle dye in exactly the same shade as the reddig dye chips. I've tried to find the powdered dye on other sites, but not found the reddig dye variety like pourette sold. Does anyone know where else I can get these powdered dyes? Thanks

The candelights website in the UK does a veg marble wax which is very similar in effect to some types of palm wax. Not got their web address at mo tho.

Thanks for the help. I usually take the candle out of the mould when doing repours, as i find it much easier, but will try doing the repour in the mould this time!

Yep,it is the same person, they have an ebay store too, but they have much more stock and lower prices at their actual store. Their also very nice to deal with and send thigns very quickly. No idea why link didn't work, it works when i try it, very strange. Anyway if you do a uk search you should find it ok. Their dye is great too!

Hi Thanks for the help. I sounds like my main error might be mixing in the dye too much!I give it a good few stirs, but will try with just one or too. Though one more question - does your wick usually stay in the candle? Even when mine have cooled over night, the wick still seems to come out!! Thanks

Hi, I usually use LX12 / LX 14 for 6cm candles, so i'd try the LX 12 first. LX 21 I'm pretty sure will be far too big. Maybe could try LX 16 next? Have you tried 4 candles? They do sample packs of the LXs which is a great way to try them out. http://www.4candles.co.uk/

Hi, I was wandering if anyone on here can help me with marble pillars. I've tried several now and none have come out very marbley at all. I've been following the instructions on the techniques section and haven't managed to find anything appropriate searching. I think i know where i'm going wrong, but not quite sure how to fix it. Ok I think firstly i'm adding the liquid dye too soon, but have tried different consistencies with no luck, so could anyone please tell me how you know the wax is ready for the dye? Also do you spoon the wax in, or just pour it in? Also i'm wandering if i'm using the heat gun too much? How long do people use the heat gun on the mould to smooth the candle? Also another problem is that i'm finding the wick often likes to come out, like it's not mixing with the wax very well, as the wax isn't as hot. So ermm any advice on these three things, or anything else it could be? Using straight paraffin with 10% stearine in a 3inch round aluminium pillar. Using candle science liquid dye, about 1 drop for a candle about 4 inches high in the 3 inch diameter mould (Too much maybe?) Thanks in advance for any help

The chunk looks great - much better than my first ones! Love the bakewell tarts - making me feel hungry, are you sure theY're not edible!!! LOL! Do they have bakewell tarts in the USA? Probably not, but it's a shame - they really are nice.

I've had this problem too, expecially with my odd shaped moulds. I found just making smaller chunks helps, as you can squash them in better with less gaps! I do really small ones, less than a cm in length and width. Make nice candles too, if only i could post pics!!!

Those candles look great - as do all the ones i've seen of yours on here. I was wandering if you have any tips on how you get such smooth transitions between colours? My layers in rustics always seem to overlap too much and give an odd mixed colour where the waxes meet (The previous wax always seems to leave a mark on the mould which the other layer doesn't get rid off)
