  1. Very nice! I love walking around Dollar Tree, I am forever just thinking about "can I put wax in that?" hehehe
  2. We do both, some people prefer the "tart" type thing for the bowl, while other like to just put a wickless tin on the bottom plate. I myself do both as well, in one room I will use the bowl for melts and in the bathroom I have a wickless tin warming all the time. I can't really say which of the two products sells better (tarts and wickless containers) because honestly it's about even.
  3. I use a 2x4 label with all the info, cut slightly in length, on the outside of the clamshell package. I have thought about trying to do an insert on the inside instead, but still experimenting with that one.
  4. I can relate to having the turkey fryer ready because I have turned mine one a few times, but ended up going and turning it off for lack to motivation. I think what got me going again was a friend who had a friend who had been at her baby shower and wanted some of the same party favors I had made for her shower. I HATE making those lil 1.5 oz jars but boy do they go over well with a good scent and cute label for a baby shower. While I was doing the order for the shower, and while I had the fryer fired up, I poured a few things just for myself, to burn in my own house. That is what did it! The next day I started out by rearranging things in the work room to organize it better and let the fryer heat up, and just started pouring things, yet again, that I wanted to melt or burn in my own house. Sure enough, had a little get together a few weeks later, had friends comment on the scents and wanted to know if I would make such and such for them. That turned into even more orders for gifts and me experiementing with new ideas and products. I'm still organizing and redoing my whole website and going a whole different direction that I had done in the past, but I am re-excited about it all! Welcome back and hope you find your motivation
  5. Another vote for wildfire, love the ones I have tried from them. Also love Peaks, Berts, and I live just a few miles from Swans so I have been trying a lot of their oils lately, and so far so good in both soy and a few in palm wax
  6. I am glad I have never ordered from them. While they may have good oils, there are a LOT of good suppliers out there who do appreciate their customers and stay in contact with them, especially if there is a delay or issue. I for one appreciate those who do come to the forum to let us know their experiences, both good and bad, because it can save others a lot of grief, time and money.
  7. I think it looks really nice! Considering the bad weather sounds like you guys did well even though it was just a few people. But, I bet word of mouth will get more interest your way very soon Oh, love the auction idea as well!
  8. VERY NICE!!! It would attract me for sure. Congrats!!!
  9. I only use a few paper towels, but in the long run I feel I should own stock in them lol. If I let it get to the point of the wax getting solid, I just zap it with the heat gun and continue to wipe it out. I'm lucky though in that when I pour I have my daughter who helps me and I just hand off the pouring pot to her to clean out as we go.
  10. For me it's anything to do with roses, for some reason I HATE that scent for candles. Leather gives me a headache, but I make scented corn sachets with it and they go over well (new car smell thing)
  11. One bit of advice, if you do start selling and/or have a website, don't use the word "tart" as yankme has it trademarked and have been known to go after people who use their word. I tried myself just doing the melts but found people still like to burn candles. I did start out with melts and it helped to generate some revenue to begin buying and testing wax/fo's for candles. Good luck to you
  12. YES YES YES on poking holes in the hard wax before reheating, that is one thing I learned right after I got mine from the people on this board and I didn't want to find out the hard way like they did. I too just leave the wax in mine and just plug it in a bit before I'm ready to begin working.
  13. Same as the others, I have used them and they are great.
  14. I dont think you are wrong, I would want to know why it cost that much for shipping when they spent such a small amount to actually ship it. I would call.
  15. That's the one I have and I LOVE it!!! It's counter top, stays cool to the touch on the outside and I honestly don't know how I lived without it before. I have a few presto pots with no spigot as well for smaller jobs, one just for dipping bears, but the turkey fryer is my favorite by far.
  16. I looked around the PL site and didn't see anything like what you are talking about, but is this anything close? http://www.kaboodle.com/reviews/fun-dae-ice-cream-cone-shaped-glass-dish-2
  17. That is what I noticed as well lol For me, I only like the smell of bacon first thing in the morning, after that I don't want my house smelling that way so I'm not sure this type of thing would work for me. I'm also scared of grease fires because I witnessed my grandmother starting one when she left the grease on the burner and she thought she turned it off, so nope, me and this candle would not get along well at all lol
  18. You and I both Brenda, I am weak and always come and check here before ordering something new. Like you too, I may get a couple for gifts and maybe one for myself as well
  19. I've haven't been to walmart lately but it seems everyone has a soy candle out there these days. What I hate is that some of the prices are pretty cheap and if I didn't make my own, I would probably buy them myself. Thankfully I have people who buy because it's handmade by someone they know, but it sure makes it hard to compete at times.
  20. Tennessee Candle Supply, and yep, 6.20 with lids http://tennesseecandlesupplies.com/
  21. Thanks for the info. I really wanted to see or know about these before I made an order, so this helps. I have a couple of friends who if they saw them would grab them up lol
  22. I too have wondered about these, I think they are really cute and something I know a few people would like.
  23. I have seen a few things on shelves at Swans but never thought to ask if they had anything different. I like using the 4oz domed lid jars and at times I need the 1.5 oz hex jars when I do things for showers. I think I will stop by this week and see what all they do have available, it would be easier for me if they did carry what I need.
  24. Actually no I haven't, thanks for the info, going to look into them
  25. I'm in Washington too, very close to Lakewood. I have only used Swans so far, for some oils and wax. I need to find a place to get containers because shipping is eating me alive. I haven't tried Let it Shine yet, but it's on my to do list for sometime soon. I'm finally able to have time to play/work again and my supplies are getting low.
