  1. What do ya'll think of this name? Just curious. With all the DD fans think it would go over well? Cheesy? DS thinks its a go. ???
  2. What's your name? Carrie How old are you? A very young 53 yr old! Where do you live? Due west of Houston, TX. How long have you been making candles/soap/whatever? Candles since 2001. Sold my biz in 2011, but still pour for me and friends. How did you get started making candles/soap/whatever? My bff and I went to her counsins candle party (she owned her own candle biz). I purchased about 4 candles which totalled $70 and I thought "crap! I can do this!", so I researched and we poured our first candles in my kitchen. They bombed, but drove me even harder to learn more. Are you married? Any kids? Happy to say No. Yes ~ two boys 15 and 29. If candle/Soap making isn't your primary job, what do you do? Full-time oil & gas accounting for 14 years. Anything else we should know? I love yard work even though my body doesn't! LOL I spend alot of time carting my 15 yr old around for his various sporting activities. Now that football season is over, he's into power-lifting, so I fixed awesome big dinners! I love to cook!
  3. I couldn't see Eggog either, so I renamed to Holiday Cheer. Sells great now!
  4. Wholesalesuppliesplus has Beach House. One of my favorites during the summer time. Actually, I was burning it this weekend in my bathroom. "Blend of lime, eucalyptus and coconut". Personally, I dont' smell much eucalyptus, but salty sea air. I wish I had some more of the fo.
  5. Full disclosure of sources of my supplies wether It be oils, wicks, jars and wax is assinine. Why Don't you just give the recipe. Hey! They're not eating the darn thing and If they are so concerned about what they Are breathing in, just tell to step outside and Breath deeply. This whole thread is just, well, A no-brainer. They are not concerned about Their health, they want to know how to Replicate your product. Period. People that are concerned about ingredients already did their research and are not Buying your candles.
  6. Have you tried sfherb.com? I've purchased quite a bit of their items and loved them! San Francisco Herb http://www.sfherb.com/store/potpourri-ingredients,category.asp Carrie
  7. I googled and it seems a company called Scentair does the piped in scents. Very ingenious Idea IMO.
  8. I had really good results with JS Southern Vanilla Coffee Cake Chesnuts & Brown Sugar (best seller for me!) Cotton Candy Country Christmas - one of my favs! Rosemary Mint Cranberry Orange Spice and some others I can't think of right now. I use 6006 with added ezsoy
  9. That is so awesome! Very happy for you! Carrie
  10. I purchased 6 of her FO's and will be pouring this weekend. I'm pretty sure they are NG too.
  11. Anyone? Why would these metal lids be oil soaked? Lid is soaked clean thru to the top and rim of the lid.
  12. I cannot give you a reason, sorry, but when I Made an all soy candle, the wax would once Cooled down from a burn would be a Light shade of green. I would be interested to know as well. Carrie
  13. Lid on inside and outside are soaked. Texas = himidity, so yes.
  14. Wow, that didn't sound right! LOL Anyway, I have a store owner that has an antique shop here in town. She does not keep the air on during the week, as she is only open on SAturdays. She called me to say that the candle jar lids (rust metal lids) are "oil soaked". Jars are standing upright, not in a window, but in the middle of her store. Temp may have gotten to 95 in the store. Now, last year during our high heat months of July-Sept some candles had the same issue, bad. Heat index in the store I'm sure could have gotten well over 100+. We are in SE Texas. Now, the issue is back but way before the heat here gets unbearable. My wax is 6006 with 15% added ezsoy, cd wicks and the same FO's I've always used for years. What would make the jar lids get this way, standing up? I'd like some of your expert opinions please. Carrie
  15. I use to make my own. All of the various wax I had left in my pot that wouldn't fill a whole jar got put into containers for melting later on. It was a mix of all FO's from A - Z. It's my favorite scent. I have made myself 7 large apothecary jars for use with my candle lamps. Just an idea. OH, and I listed it as a "limited time only" candle scent. Everyone loved it.
  16. I've not poured a Caramel Pecan Pie FO, but I just love NG's Iced Cinnamon rolls.
  17. I love Aztec Internationals Toasted Marshmallow.
  18. I use 6006 with an additional 15% ezsoy. I use CD wicks though. Great CT and HT. I haven't found a FO that hasn't thrown well in this wax combo. Never thought of using zinc wicks...hmmmm I get mine from BCS, they are only about 45 mins. from my house. I use KY tart/votive wax in clamshells though.
  19. TB, you make some really neat items. How come I never see them in your etsy store? I have money and I love to shop! LOL
  20. I read it, and NO, you didn't go too far. Very insightful and a fun read. Actually, your whole blog is a fun read. Your bracelet is gorgeous...rock on Orange & Black! LOL You seem like a really fun person to be around.... Carrie
  21. The HT on the ribbon wick candle (Vanilla Sugar) is great IMO. I have a very large kitchen/dining/living area and it fills it up. I read on an Amazon review that someone had burned the candle down to the very end and the container exploded. I'm not one that burn candles that way, but I do know alot of people that do.
  22. Yes, I have just about burned it all and I am surprised that it is burning so well. All the wax burns nicely. The wick very interesting in deed, I too see a metal screen type design. Very little smoke when you blow it out too. Yes, it is made by Wood Wick and they are becoming very popular. I almost bought another one. Competition is fierce - glad I sold my company 2 years ago.
