  1. Thank you for your compliments! I started with a kit first to see if I could "get the hang of it" and it's going really well I think. What the kits come with is flannel for the "batting" and the backing. I like especially for the baby quilts, it's just so soft and rags really well. The fronts are cotton, minky and chenille squares. The minky won't rag, but it sure is soft. The batting you have is Warm and Natural and will not rag. Also, that type would be cut smaller than your quilt squares and requires to be "sewn down" every so many inches (it should say on the back of the bag). I made a smaller baby quilt yesterday is lots of pinks and white. It's is too cute! I have a rag quilt on my king size bed that I had a lady make for me years ago in the primitive homespuns with valances and pillow shams. It's great! I kept looking at it thinking "one day I'm gonna tackle that craft"..... That's my next project is with homespuns. My new addiction. I have viewed some tutorials on youtube too. Thanks! Carrie
  2. Thank you everyone! I've really enjoyed it so far. I made another one today, off to wash/dry it. Carrie
  3. Well, I did it. I made my rag quilt today. I love it! It's so adorable! I purchased a kit to see if I like doing this sorta stuff. And I love it! Took about 6 hrs. from start to finish.
  4. Hmm......I do the same as you. I start heating my wax the day before I pour. Heat up to 185-190 and turn down to 150 until the next day. Then up to 190 again and pour at 185 or so into room temp jars. I crowd them together for cooling on a formica topped pouring table on newspaper. I haven't had to cover them, etc... I make sure my candle shop is around 75-80 degress while I'm pouring and no drafts. I do find that cinnamons (red hot, cinnamon, home sweet home type) will give me some wet spots, but only a few, but not any others. I don't know what to tell you. What soy are you using? Could that be the culprit? Just grabbing at straws.
  5. Now that's funny! I just spit my tea out on my keyboard!:laugh2:
  6. No, I don't and my customers don't mind or even notice. I try to keep from adding anything that's really not necessary. It actually turns a "rustic pink", which just adds to the name. Thanks for compliments.
  7. Now that I am no longer doing candles. My B&B line has sprung! When the hostess gifts were given out at my nephews shower, everybody was like "I didn't know you did lotions!"... So now they all want to buy! This is my new packaging for lotions, shampoo and i have an 8 oz. jar in white for my whipped soaps. Hope you like. I do! LOL
  8. Thanks! I just ordered a bottle of BNL FO. I sooooo love this scent! My house smells awesome! Thanks everyone! Carrie
  9. I'm loving this scent. Reminds me of Heaven Scent cologne as a teenager! LOL Does anyone know of a really good FO or maybe a good vanilla to mix with a good Sandalwood? I purchased today a tart from B&BW for .59 cents and I love it! TIA Carrie
  10. Those Watermelon votives are the cutest! Love your pillar too! Very nice work! Carrie
  11. My best seller for lotion bars is Pink Sugar and Vanilla Oak.
  12. I can't find them on facebook. What do I search for? No luck! Carrie Nevermind, I just found them.
  13. Thanks Judy! That's what I thought, but wanted to make sure. I'm having fun shopping for quilt "stuff". Where is a good place to get quilter's thread? I'm rural and Houston/Katy area is about 30-50 miles from me. Have a name of a store? Online store maybe? I've been googling, and no "familiar" names are coming up. Thanks for any help! Carrie
  14. What is a recommended rotary cutter to use? I see 45mm and 60mm and some smaller ones.
  15. I bought mine off of ecrater.com. Definitely need the quilters thread ~ that's on my shopping list for sure.
  16. I purchased my sewing machine ~ Brother CS 6000i. Did some test stitches and all is good! Purchased a Baby rag quilt kit and have it all layed out how I want it. I need to still purchase a Mark b Gone pen to mark my "X" on the backing and some thread for sewing it together. What other supplies will I need in order to continue making these types of quilts? I've read about a rotary cutter, quilters mat, but what else? TIA for any info, Carrie
  17. Same here. If you allow Paypal and something goes wrong, you could have your PP acct frozen for a very long time. Credit cards is the only form of payment I accepted for Int'l orders and never had a problem. But I would question an order from Africa.
  18. "Can you make mine more than triple scented?"
  19. Aztec International has a terrific toasted marshmallow, not so toasted as sticky sweet marshmallows....loves it!
  20. Yes, it came with it. Did I do good? OH, and it's computerized....oh dear, I think I'm going to have to really read up on this one. I'm use to ole bessie types.....
  21. I love WSP's and yes it's pricey... I also have JS Sun Goddess which is mighty, mighty close. I also have Beach Daisies, it's close but there's a note in there that's too overpowering and not as light as WSP's. JMO Carrie
  22. Nothing real fancy. Brother CS-6000i. Don't really know what's a good one thse days. It's been 26 years since I've sewn. Last items were maternity tents! LOL At least that's what my co-workers told me. Read alot of good reviews and can be used for quilting.
  23. http://www.allpeoplequilt.com/millionpillowcases/ Make A Pillowcase Make A Difference While searching for a location for the Quilts for Kids, the store in Houston also is a sponsor for this organization that makes pillowcases for cancer patients, foster children and womens shelters. their goal is to have 1,000,000 pillowcases donated to various hospitals and charities. I thought for those that don't quilt, maybe a pillowcase? Since closing my candle business, I've chosen baby rag quilts as my next adventure. My sewing machine came in yesterday, waiting on a quilt kit (to test my patience and ability) before really diving in to this new area of interest. If it's good enough I will be donating it. I'll post a pic of my first one, hopefully soon. Carrie
