  1. I too would like to see it and see how it is used.
  2. Very nice. Curious to see how the loofa does.
  3. OMG those are so pretty, great job with the colors.
  4. Soy has a lower MP than paraffin, and is a softer wax. It is also more opaque. I am not saying you can't use it, just that paraffin is more suitable, because of the higher MP and that it's more transluscent. A good soy blend can make some nice pillars, but IMO, you can't get as creative with them, as you can with the paraffin.
  5. What would you be using the vybar for in the soy? I am not sure about anyone elses experience, and I think it may vary from wax to wax, but it made my soy frost more, with the addition of vybar.
  6. If the bags are made of polyethylene, they would not be a good choice. But if they are made of polypropylene, then they should work just fine.
  7. I would be curious why a soy palm blend. If she is looking for the look of the palm candle, soy will kill that look. Palm doesn't even throw as well as soy, so I am not sure what the benefit of adding the palm to the soy would be, besides making it harder.
  8. Not sure which I like the best, they are all very pretty Carol, nice job.
  9. Very pretty, love the green. Hmmm...haven't tried melon in soap yet.
  10. I have some of the bottles, I got from the restaurant supply, but when I tried them, I waited too long and it got too thick too fast on me and I ended up with lots of soap still in them, and it was hard to get out. I want to try it again, at a much thinner trace this time. E, Let's see some pics!
  11. Carol, try mixing 3 parts red to 1 part orange, gives me a beautiful red everytime. You can then adjust the lightness or darkness of it, by adding a touch of black. This is with liquid dyes, I am thinking it may work the same with the blocks as well.
  12. I have used some of their FO's without a problem. Nothing I have ever gotten smells like what you are describing. I am pretty certain that he does not sell bottles of kerosene. :undecided Have you tried calling him, or Kimberley and explaining to them what you are throwing out here to us on the board? If there is an issue, I am sure they would want to know about it. I don't buy many oils from them, but I buy a few and I also buy some of my soaping supplies from them as well, and have always gotten good quality stuff. Since Robert mixes his own FO's, maybe he can help figure out what is happening.
  13. I am with Eugenia, I started out in candles, but prefer making soap and B&B. I found the soap much more of a challenge, than the candles.
  14. I think it is great to have your standards, to sell your products, everyone should have them. I would probably sell mine as well, with a little frost on them, but not with heavy frosting. To me, it makes them kinda unique, like a pillar that has mottling or the rustic look to it. Most people get it, and understand. None of my repeat customers have ever complained. Funny you should mention the lopsided cake. We actually saw a program on TV on the Food Channel a couple of days ago, about a bakery that specializes in lopsided birthday cakes. They were very cute looking. Not trying to make a point here, but your comment just made me think of it.
  15. I use liquid dyes and can usually get those colors with no problem. If your burgandy is not dark enough, try adding a little black to it. Soy will hold a good amount of dye before you have to worry about it clogging the wick.
  16. Soooo, Julie.....ya made anything in that vertical mold yet? I am thinking about buying one, sometime early this year. Is yours the one from For Crafts Sake?
  17. Beautiful job Bruce....ever thought about making candles for a living?
  18. I am with you Maryann, it is tough to cut out of the slab mold as well. I think the only way I would make it again, would be in a mold like candlespastore used.
  19. Wow, very cool looking! I really like the twisted taper though, very cool!
