  1. Hmm that is gonna be hard, maybe someone on here from UK can give you some suggestions:)
  2. Hmm I pour the 8 oz tins with about 5 oz of wax. I get nice flat tops. I pour at 160. Maybe they are cooling to fast. I like to stick mine in my cool oven to keep drafts and all away. Edited to add, maybe you are getting air bubbles? Try pouring slower and tapping them good.
  3. You should also measure your FO with a scale, not by the teaspoon. They all weight different based on which FO it is. Some are heavier than others. How long did you stir? I usually stir mine for a good 2 to 3 minutes. Also your wax needs to be a high temp when you add the FO to incorporate it. Most add it around 180. Good luck:)
  4. I dont sell, just a hobby. But I have liked the 8 oz tins so far the best. I love the bigger jars, as I have alot of jar shades etc. The tins are a good starting place for a beginner, you dont have to worry about wet spots. And they are alot simpler to wick then some containers. Good luck:)
  5. Yes you can mix them, I think alot do 75/25 pillar/container wax. Adding some container generally allows to add more FO.
  6. Wow you are getting alot of different answers from the supplier. I guess since there arent many suppliers yet, they dont have all there info together. Good luck.
  7. The 6006 is great, still have to wick up but burns pretty clean. It has awesome throw too.
  8. I finally seen some of those candles at Hallmark, they were on clearance with all the christmas stuff. They look neat. Let us know how the rest goes for you.
  9. I gave up on the 4630, wicking is rough with all the soot. The 4630 has alot of oil in it, which is why it smokes(info from supplier). I did find the zincs smoked less, but get mushrooms.
  10. Alot has to do with the temp you pour at. I have used the 4630, I got smooth flat tops with pour temp of 160. I also now use the 6006, and get nice tops at 170. Maybe play around with your pour temp.
  11. Go up one size from the 51z. One pour waxes alot of times you really have to wick up.
  12. Maybe look in cake decorating section at a craft store. I am pretty sure they sell them.
  13. Candlesciene has a great mulberry. I have poured it in tarts, smelled wonderful.
  14. Check out the co-ops, I believe there is a clam shell one still going on. Looked like really good prices.
  15. I like Candlescience, have tried alot of their FOs. Also just tried AH recently when they had their big sale, very good too. Some of my favs from Candlescience is Blueberry Cobbler, Cranberry Marmalade, and their Fruit Slices.
  16. Might try Target, they have alot of vday stuff in their dollar section. I cant remember if they had bears.
  17. Opps just noticed they are oval, that might be a hard one to find.
  18. Another Jill:) I think Candlescience has some that fit those maybe.
  19. I would tell her your supplier has like some huge min order. If shes really insistant on candlemaking, just tell her one of the suppliers so she leaves you alone. When she sees how much it costs in shipping buying wax maybe she will go back to buying candles somewhere lol.
  20. Just make her a list of things to watch for. Full melt pool, scent throw, smoking etc. And warn her to keep a eye on it if shes gonna test them. I gave one of my tins to my girlfriend the other day to test out, I am hoping she keeps a eye on it.
  21. Welcome back! I myself just got back into making candles a few months back after having a baby. They keep ya busy.
  22. I use that wax, try pouring it a little cooler. I always poured at 160. Also I let mine cool very slow. You should get a nice level top generally with this wax.
  23. Good idea, never thought of using toe nail clippers.
  24. Those are very pretty, thanks:) Think I will give it a try.
  25. I have never heard of those bags. I use a pour pot and a large pan for my double boiler. I would think a bag would be difficult. You will get much better results with good quality FOs. Also make sure you are using a thermoter. FOs bind with wax better at higher temps, I mix mine at 180.
