  1. Those bottles with enfamil in them are pretty exspensive. We used them in the hospital and then took home about a dozen. We basically cleaned out the room:D You could also look into making candles in baby food jars, they are cute too.
  2. Wow thats crazy! I think its pretty silly to spend that much on a candle. For someone who is so big on charity and all should feel the same. I wonder how much food you could buy in Africa for one of those candles..... Hope they smell good:)
  3. "Where did you find glass baby bottles?" You may have a hard time finding them as they dont make many glass bottles any more. I know when my baby was born we had a bunch of the glass bottles that came with formula in them from the hospital. I know some people make candles in the baby food jars. As for the wicking, you would probally just go by the diameter of the bottle. Most baby bottles are 2 inches wide(After washing bottles for a year, I know alot about them lol:) ) so probally start with a zinc 44.
  4. Hi and Welcome! Once you got your business going, you would want to get a tax id number. Say if you decided to sell them at like a flea market or craft fair alot are requiring a tax id number now. You have alot ahead of you tho before you could ever sell. There is alot that goes into making a safe and great candle, lots of testing. Good luck!
  5. I think she looks cute! Sounds like you are gonna get alot of practice with 38 to go:)
  6. I tested a 51 z in the 8 oz tins when I was using that wax. It didnt make it all the way across. I think the 60z will work better. I was using 6% FO, so I was surprised I didnt get a full melt pool. I gave up and now using the 6006.
  7. IF your wick is secured it isnt gonna come off that easy, they might would burn themselves with hot wax trying?
  8. I take it your batch weight is with wax, fo etc? You would use that for packaging I would think if you were to sell. I would use the wax weight for weighing out your wax if thats what you need.
  9. You can get them at Candlescience. Here is a link. They have great prices and from what I here they are good on shipping(I pick up orders). http://www.candlescience.com/containers/8oz-seamless-tin-window-top/ The qualilty of their tins are great, I use the ones without the window tho.
  10. Dont ya hate to burn them when they turn out so pretty:) You should be able to test them 24 hours later for parrafin.
  11. I believe Bittercreek North sells them, so I would check there.
  12. Some wax's shrink quite a bit. Try letting your candle cool slower by placing a box over it. You can try using a heat gun to smooth it out before unmolding it.
  13. I believe(head hurts today), that you set your scale to 0 with the mold. THen fill with water, what ever that weight is, thats how much of wax you need. Somebody chime in if I am wrong:)
  14. Very good idea! Now you can really enjoy your wonderful wax, I love the 6006.
  15. I use the 6006 in 8 oz tins. I have nice flat tops. I have heard about sinking from other people in larger jars. Most say the heat gun works. I love the wax, just got some of the pillar wax in the parasoy and like it so far.
  16. You also want to test how deep the melt pool is. Its ideal for it to be 1/2 inche deep. You should burn it all the way down yourself before letting other people test it tho. THey arent going to watch it like you would.
  17. I tried that jar when I was using the 4630, never could get it wicked right. I was trying LXs, and they didnt work well for me. Have you tried double wicking? I think that was the only way I got a full melt pool without it being a torch.
  18. I do most of my ordering with Candlescience. They are in NC. I would check around and see who will give the best shipping. I have ordered FOs from Aroma Haven also and they are great. You just have to give stuff a try and see how ya like it. All wax is so different, one person might love it but you may hate it.
  19. My advice is not to buy candle supplies at Craft Stores. THey have low quality product, which isnt all that bad just to learn on. Check out some suppliers that are close by to save on shipping. Kits are a good way to go. Plus stick to one thing at a time until you master it. Good luck and welcome!
  20. You can make one and test it. Just take notes on how you made it, and take notes on how it burns. I made two the last time I was testing, using two different wick sizes to see how the burn compared.
  21. I love their scrapbook and stamping section, what an addiction I have lol:)
  22. I dont understand how some have to be so mean on here to a complete stranger. I say let it go, it is against the board rules to attack members. To the hobby lobby, I wish we had one close. Its about a hour and half drive to our nearest.
  23. You will love your Candlesciene oils, I order from them. They are great!
