  1. Probally start with a LX 16 or 18 and work up. I found tho that LXs smoked like crazy in the 4630. Havent tried them in the 6006, have been testing zincs and rrds in that one.
  2. Well the color is pretty no madder. Good it didnt turn some funky color.
  3. I have chosen jars that I loved, but then been to hard to wick. Now I choose ones that are more easier to wick. I love the tins. I never plan on selling mine so I choose what I like. But if you are planning on selling, then I guess you will have to see what is popular in your area. I also dont like paying shipping so I get what I can from candlescience since I pick up orders.
  4. Yes they were selling them at all the craft stores at xmas time. I think they are neat, great for when you dont want to worry about a flame. I havent bought any, might get some when halloween comes back around.
  5. I had trouble with wicking it, and so much smoking/soot. I started using the 6006 parasoy blend. I am still working on wicking, but it has awesome hot/cold throw. I am lucky and live close to a supplier, which makes it easy for me to try different wax's with no shipping costs.
  6. If you use to much Vybar and it locks the scent up, it wont have cold or hot throw.
  7. Were did you get your dye chips? I have never had problems with them. I am scared of the liquid dye lol, I would probally ruin my kitchen floor.
  8. The 4630 holds up to 9% FO, which would be 1 1/2 oz to 1 pound of wax. I used to use that wax and never needed more than 6%. That wax is a preblended wax so you dont need any vybar. Just add color, and FO:)
  9. How do you make Firestarters? They sound interesting.
  10. Most people buy candles for the smell. I dont really care when I have bought pillars in the past if I am using them for display. But I still expect to smell something. You will have to see how much FO your wax holds. Alot of pillar/votive waxes hold 6%( 1 oz FO per Pound Wax). Good luck on your testing.
  11. My old postman got fired because he was selling cds at the flea market during the week lol. We always got our mail around 6 pm.
  12. You are doing marathon burns. Which isnt a bad idea, but not good to leave it in a room unattended. I would pick a room where you can keep a eye on it. Mostly I would burn it for 2 to 3 hours at a time and blow it out. And then wait a few hours at least for it to harden back. Votives arent gonna put off a huge scent throw, they dont get a very large melt pool.
  13. You can buy the tight ones at AC Moore, and Michaels. I think they have them at walmart too, I just dont go there often.
  14. I believe(I could be wrong:) ) that its best to wait 24 hours or so to test burn. With the 6006 I let it cure for at least 3 days. I know its hard lol, I have to stick them in a cabinet were I dont see them so I can forget about them:smiley2:
  15. Read the stickies at the top of forum for nembie advice:smiley2:
  16. I would think it would be a good thing, at least if you are gonna sell. I am a hairstylist and I have to be lisensed. With the possibility of burning down someones house, it would be wise.
  17. You may not have good throw yet if you just poured them. It needs some cure time with the soy in it.
  18. Every wax is very different and likes to be poured at different temps. Also FO binds better when your wax is 180. If you added it as soon as your wax melted it probally wouldnt bind well. Temps are very important in candlemaking.
  19. I havent used that wax, but you probally poured to cool maybe.
  20. You can get 8 usually out of a lb of wax, so should be 80 for 10 lbs. edited to say: most votives usually take 2 oz of wax.
  21. I cool about half the time in my oven and have never had a problem. Good to know that can happen.
  22. People stick them in a cool oven to let them cool slow. Cooling to fast causes sink holes, air bubbles.
  23. Wow, maybe I should try to down wick mine. I am using tins, 3 1/8" across. I couldnt get a full melt pool with a rrd 50 or 55, the 50 did better on the third burn. If you let them cure longer you will have very good hot throw. The wick thing drives me nuts lol.
  24. Did you get a full melt pool? That is a pretty small wick, and the 4630 needs to be wicked up. You will just have to try different things until you find what works best for you.
  25. I been very happy with the hot throw with this wax. How much FO are you using? I have been trying 9% FO, but think I am gonna cut it back to 6% to see how it does. I am really having to wick up alot with the 9% in there. Sounds like things are going well. I have found you really have to wick up with this wax because of the soy in it. Let me know how your wicks do, I am still working on wicks for my 8 oz tins.
