  1. Maybe pour a small amount into a dixie cup or something. And let it cool completely. The small amount on a paper towel hasnt worked for me either, always looks lighter than it turns out.
  2. Hmm might have to wait a little longer till stores get some out. Might try doing a search on web for stuffed snowmen maybe.
  3. I started with votives, bought a kit. Kits are good they have everything you will need to make that kind of candle. Good luck, check out peaks site:smiley2:
  4. those are really pretty! Some day I am gonna try to make those.:smiley2:
  5. I make sure I push on them very well to make sure they are secure. Maybe they didnt stick well from the hot glue being on jars first. Never had one come undone.
  6. wick stickums here too:cheesy2: THey are really easy to work with and cheap. I would say they are cheaper than glue dots. I dont think glue dots would hold up well, are these the ones people use in scrapbooks?
  7. I always heat my wax to 180 before I put FO in. I keep it on heat while it mixes in. Some FO wont bind with wax if wax isnt hot enough. Are u using any additives?
  8. Are you pouring in a really drafty spot(aircondition vent)? I found that if they cool to fast they tend to pull away from jar. I let mine cool in a box to help with that. Good luck:)
  9. Handy calculators on side panel for figuring how much wax for jars and pillars:) You have to click on top candle making techniques to get to calculator, just noticed that.
  10. I like those, very elegant looking:) Might have to look for those at hallmark.
  11. I am 8 weeks along, and yes its my first. I cant even hardly stand my scented lotions, I think I will have to go by some unscented:(
  12. I am pregnant and cant stand the smell right now lol. My mother in law got lucky that I made her some couple of weeks ago before it really started bothering me. Hopefully I will be able to get back to it for the fall, as I love pumpkin pie smells:)
  13. what I do with leftover wax is pour it into a empty can or yogurt cup. I usually have them from breakfast. I lay papertowels out on counters and I am very careful not to let any drip on floor as it will mess up kitchen floor. I keep a papertowel in my hand to wipe pour pot after each pour. If you are careful you wont have any problems. For cleaning molds, you can use heat gun or put upside down on a lined baking sheet in lowest setting oven has. Be careful with metal molds they can get messed up if you get them to hot in oven. Dont use water on molds. I normally dont have to do anything to my molds.
  14. I use this wax. I add FO at 180. I get very good throw. I can smell it around my whole downstairs. I have had a hard time wicking, but I dont think it has anything to do with wax lol.
  15. yes votive wick pins go inside the mold. It works fine cause you arent turning the candle upside down when you remove it.
  16. yes cierra does have good one, I ordered one couple months ago in a sampler.
  17. thru tuesday, AC Moore has them 4 for $1. If you have a AC Moore, they will also give you a raincheck for sale price if they are out of stock.
  18. I was told to add FO at 180 for it to bind well with the wax. I always have a great hot/cold throw. I would make sure you are using at least 1 oz per pound of wax. That could be problem. I started out using just a little cause I couldnt imagine putting that much oil in lol.
  19. How long have you burned it for. Looks like wick is still as tall as jar with hardly no wax. I have never seen that before. I would not burn it anymore if I were you. Did you burn it with the wick being that long?
  20. I pour at 170, I add FO at 180 then let it cool just a bit. I let mine cure about a week or so. I only cure about a day for testing wicks.
  21. I also use a embossing gun. Didnt really feel comfortable with using the heavy duty heat guns as they get alot hotter. If I am only pouring one jar, I use it to heat jar up. Also works great for if you get a air bubble on top of candle/votive. I used a coupon at AC Moore for mine, cost me $12. I also use it for stamping so was good value for me.
