  1. I have poured tons of testers with a 25/75 of 444 and 4630. I just cant seem to get the pour temp right. I always get sinkholes. Do you always have to do a 2nd pour with this blend? The only thing I haven't tried is pouring really really hot, like 175 or really really cool, like 110. Is there a magic temp for this blend? TIA
  2. I think I found the culprit. I did cool it down in the freezer. I think I read somewhere on here, not to do that to soon. I still don't know why it is only separating in the bottle though. Probably cause it is slightly cooler in the basement and they have been undisturbed. It looks like baby vomit, but I am still using it up.....all those good oils can't go to waste!
  3. I filled 3 jars and then filled an 8oz. bottle. My husband said he'd rather have some in a squeeze bottle so I thought, fine, if I can get it in there. So I filled a plastic baggie and cut a corner off and squeezed it in. About 2 weeks after I made this batch the bottled butter started to separate. I can't get it mixed back together either. The jars still look fine..... but we haven't been shaking it or mixing it up any. I would think the stuff I put in the bottle would be mixed even better, but it's the only one separating. Anyone know why it's doing this? Oh, and the stuff in the bottle is upstairs in our bathroom and the jars are in the cooler basement. Would that make a difference?
  4. The LX have always burned cooler for me than the cotton. I would think the cotton would work good in that wax. That is what I used when I was using that wax. Did you maybe goof on the f/o amount? Maybe you should pull another candle in a different fragrance and test burn that one. HTH
  5. Oh, I just wanted to try the different wax coatings Candlewic has on their CD's. You can choose beeswax, standard, high melt point...since I finally found a place that stocks 8" long wicks, now I have to decide if I want a different wax on them! Of course I can't be satisfied with just the standard if I know I could have another choice, right?! MORE TESTING! Would you happen to have a couple of CD 14,16,18,20 with the standard, beeswax, and high m/p? LOL
  6. I'd try a little Pink Sugar to the Buttercream if you have that on hand.
  7. Candlewic is awesome! I don't know why I never checked into this one sooner. I am AMAZED at the wick choices. Some of the wicks only come in the special order section so you have to get 500. I was going to call them and ask them if they will give a few samples, but since they are closed at 1:00am, lol, I thought I'd ask you guys. Do they give samples or sell sample packs? I would like to try a few before I buy 500. They are actually cheaper in the special order!
  8. Thanks eveyone! I do believe Candlewic is the winner!
  9. Do any of you know where I can get 7 or 8" CD's? I'd like them precut and tabbed, but if I have to go the spooled route I will! I used to get the spooled from Candles & Supplies, but they don't have enough wax on them to suit me. TIA:)
  10. Ya, I have PRINTMASTER GOLD but I also had the 18. Both of which give me headaches! It is great when it does what you want it to do, but certain things I can't get to work. I am looking to switch but it will be a lot of work. I was thinking of trying Print Shop. Anyone have any input on that one?
  11. I would like to drop a few different jars, but I just can't decide which ones. I totaled up all sales of each and they are all about the same. I currently carry 6 different jars and 40 different fragrances....it is difficult to keep up on all those. I guess I will stick it out one more year and then decide which ones to drop. I want to add my lip balms to my b&b line. They won't be a big money maker, but they will make a nice addition. I am keeping it simple with just a couple of flavors.
  12. I was wondering myself what some of the new titles were. I have been using Printmaster Gold and I am fed up! The bold never works among other problems with this program. Apparently there has been a lot of issues because when I go to the website for help there are TONS of problems to search through. Some can be fixed (but I am no computer geek, so I can't understand how to fix the problem) and some state right on there that it can't be fixed. So, I too am looking for a new program. I want the new versions so I don't have so many problems. Does anyone have some good suggestions?
  13. I just don't understand why all these soy and paraffin wax companies cannot produce consistant results. I mean, you never get a jar of peanut butter and open it up and it be rock hard, or water running out of it. You may get a little salmonella, but not peanut butter that you can't get out of the jar! Do you think these are mishaps with the wax or do they actually CHANGE the formula and don't tell? Isn't there a law against that or something? I think all these companies know how addicted we are to candle making and think.....they are hooked....they will just test some more and use more wax!!$$ Something has GOT to change! We can't keep retesting every single shipment with 5 different pour temps, additives, cooling techniques....It is like starting over every time we reorder. OK, rant over. Deep breath...What should we do as a group to make these companies understand they have to be consistant?
  14. Everyone that uses Paraffin thinks its SOY that has to many inconsistancies....Well, now we know its not just soy!
  15. My sample was like butter....ordered from BC. I was just about to place an order from The Candlemakers Store. Glad I read this!!
  16. Oh good! I added it last and it turned out beautifully! It is still slightly greasy though. I guess most butters are. I like it much better than the balm I was making. This soaks into your skin after just a short time. I hope hubby likes it!
  17. I am making this right now and have been searching while my liquid and oils are cooling....when do you add the dry flo? At the end after you add the fragrance oil....or before.....? Help! I am afraid i am going to add it to late!
  18. I have found that when I melt small amounts like that, my presto heats the wax so fast that the thermometer doesn't register the temp that fast. So actually the temp of your wax isn't rising, your thermometer is just catching up. You will probably want to turn off the pot sooner or turn it down low. You could just melt that small amount in the microwave for 30 sec. at a time untill you get to the desired temp. It is easier to take the temp of the wax when that small of an amouont is in a cup rather than in the larger presto pot.
  19. My house hasn't been clean in like 5 years, lol. Candles before cleaning, I always say!
  20. WOW, it took me 5 years-full time with one wax to get that many jar/scent/ color combinations!
  21. Are you talking about the ones witht the zip lock at the top, I think they are 3x4 inches? I use them for my soy melts and the only problem I have found is that the scent does penetrate through, so I don't think they are the polypropylene.
  22. It is a different lot. My last pallet came with 2 different lot numbers. The first 15 cases poured beautifully! Then I poured the next lot number and it was awful! Soo you can't tell me it is different pouring conditions, or fragrance, or pour temp. I just need to find something to add to it to make it stop havinf such huge sinkholes. I did pour one last night at 95 degrees. I added 1/2 teas. C/O to 1/2 lb. wax. That set up flat on top, but had jumplines and frost. I just will NOT be able to pour that cool. I have to many to pour.
  23. Ahhh, I wish it were that easy! These are deep crevises down the wick. Heat gunning that much wax would take longer than doing a repour. And besides, it melts the wax coating off the wick. I don't like that either.
  24. I just wanted to add that I am not just getting bumpy tops...I am getting CRATORS! Usually right around and down the wick, so I poke and do a repour.
  25. I have tried EVERTHING to get my 444 to behave. I want SMOOTH TOPS! I have poured at different temps, different additives, different paraffins, heated jars, non-heated jars....what the heck?! I can't get a one pour no matter what I try. Do any of you have luck with the 444 being a one pour? If so, please help with a few suggestions! TIA
