  1. Thanks Top, I guess what I am really after is a blend with more soy than parraffin like GL 70/30, but the shipping will kill me so do you know what that really is so I can get it closer to Ohio? TIA
  2. Does anyone know of a soy/parraffin blend that uses 4627 as the parraffin part? I tried blending my own but it is WAY to messy. Most suppliers don't list what parraffin they use in their blends but I thought maybe someone here might know the inside scoop. I wouldn't mind a blend with j223 as the parraffin part either if someone would know where I can get it. Close to Ohio would be the bestest! TIA
  3. I thought I was going to go NUTS! I tried every wick out there in my pure soy. Same results, flickering! Didn't have this problem before in the colder months. I thought it was my wax. Like maybe moisture got into it somehow. I have a dehumidifier in the room I store it in though. My husband said our house was to air tight and to open a window....believe me it's not that air tight. I tested this same wax, wick, oil combo on a warmer day with the window open and it did not flicker.....not sure what to think!??? I feel a little relief knowing other people are fighting this too though.
  4. Tell me about it.....I just got finished pouring 1200 candles in 3 weeks outta 1 presto pot! I just got my house back to normal (kinda) so DH is a little happier. $$$ Doesn't excite him a bit!:rolleyes2 I feel great though!
  5. I really smell a campfire smell to the Pumpkin Custard Spice too. Long after the candle is out, I'll walk into the room and it smells like campfire smoke! Others don't smell this though. So I mixed a little Sugar Cookie to soften it a little. It didn't change the C/T much but it did soften the H/T with more of a bakery scent. Some people said "I can't smell the Pumpkin in it". Well, what does pumpkin smell like really? I assume it's the spices we associate with pumpkin, like nutmeg, cinnamon, clove etc. Anyway, I sold over a hundred of the Pumpkin Custard Spice already, so somebody likes it!
  6. Thanks hometowncandles, I forgot all about that site! Thanks Tereasa too, I didn't realize VBN was a cookie scent. I thought it was just another Vanilla. I will have to try this one!
  7. I need a really strong butter cookie type scent. I just can't seem to find one strong enough. Maybe even a vanilla type cookie scent if that makes sense? I tried JS Vanilla Buttercreme Crunch, but that is not quite what my wholesale customer wanted (after I bought 3-16oz. bottles). I'd like to purchase from a supplier that gives a price break for 5lbs., and that is pretty close to Ohio. Any suggestions? TIA
  8. I have been dying to buy an Upland mold. Since they have been taking so long getting settled I decided to get a larger Misty Creek mold. Now they are not making them any more! Where can I get a good mold, similar to the Upland? TIA~
  9. Oh thanks guys! My pretabbed wicks look like they use some kind of hole punch or something that makes a circle (hole). I will just use the needle nose pliers! THANKS SO MUCH for responding so quickly!
  10. I must be brain dead! I just bought a bunch of primed wicks on a spool. I am ready to pour and realized I dont have the tabs on them yet. What do you use to punch that hole in the neck of the tab so that the wick stays on the tab? TIA!
  11. Hey, has anyone tried Bert's Hyacinth yet in soy? I need a pretty strong floral that is not sickening. If you have another supplier that you would suggest, that would be great too! TIA
  12. Thanks guys, I will go back to MMS for the sap value. I didn't know soy oil would be the same as soy wax flakes. I just thought since I have 28 cases of soy wax sitting here, and I am out of PKO flakes, I would experiment. Hey, when ya get the urge to make soap, you use what cha got! If I remember, I'll let you know how it goes!
  13. I have been searching for the sap value of soy wax but can't find it anywhere! I wanted to switch the PKO flakes with soy wax in a CP recipe and need to know the properties and such. Has anyone ever tried this? Thanks for any help!
  14. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!
  15. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!!!!
  16. Where can I find soft touch bottles? I currently get them from MC, but I want to buy them in bulk (less expensive). I have searched the net and just can't find them. Thanks for any help!
  17. ME TOO! I have been waiting patiently...... but now I'm getting soap rage!!! ......lol:laugh2:
  18. Ask the person who assigns the booths if you are on a corner or where you will be located. That makes a difference too on how you would set up your tables. Sometimes I have it all planned out in my head and then when I get there I'm on a corner or in a hallway or something and then I have to spend time figuring out how to set up. It's always nice to know in advance. HTH!
  19. I have been testing a sample (10lbs.) from BC and I love it! Of course the sample is NEVER the same as the case or pallet. How do I know if this is a new "fresh" batch or an old previous "good batch" I just don't want to place an order for cases and get the bad ones stuck in the middle. Do you know what I mean? Jeez, they make us candlemakers think to hard! I was really ready to place an order until I read this post. I really love this wax! Any word from a supplier of when a new batch will be available, if not already?
  20. Does anyone know where I can get realistic petals? I had a wonderful supplier go out of business and now I can't find anything that looks as realistic. I have googled and such, but I thought maybe someone here could help. Thanks for any info!
  21. I have known this has been a problem for me for a couple of years now. Summer is when I finally have the time to test burn and get ready for the busy season. Only I can't get a scent throw in the summer with windows open or the A/C on. I switched waxes, wicks, rooms, f/o's, you name it. Nadda. Florals and fruits do seem to throw a little better this time of year. So, I try to work on those in the summer and scramble trying to test the bakery and food scents in the early fall. I feel silly telling my customers this though. They might think I am making excuses for my candles not producing much scent throw. It DOES sound far-fetched, but it's TRUE!
  22. I actually drool over NG's Iced Cinnamon Rolls!
  23. I was just wondering what company this is? I did a google and couldn't find it. What supplies do they carry? Thanks for any info! ~Dana
  24. I take 2-3 of each size and scent. It will all depend on how much you sell if you can get ready for the next one in time. I usually like a weekend off in between, to spend with family. I love to go to shows though. You will find they are A LOT of work for the money. but.... If I only had to worry about me and my candles, I would do a show every weekend!
  25. Anyone know of a good ecosoya supplier in Ohio?
