  1. Oh, I see it now. I put my glasses on...in tiny print it says "This item is being discontinued". Apparently you can still order it though?
  2. OK, are you guys playing a trick on me? I just went to WSP website and it's still on there....?
  3. OMGosh! SAY IT AINT SO!!! What in the world are we gonna do? I have about 3 or 4 pounds left.....I want to cry, or throw something!!!
  4. Oops! Sorry, I thought you were talking about GLUE guns, lol.
  5. If you are looking for one to stick your wicks to the bottom of the jar, get the hot melt with the higher watts. Walmart, Hobby Lobby or hardware stores will have these.
  6. I pour thousands between August and Jan. Then it slows down, so I concentrate on soap and whipped butters and lip balms. Things are usually steady until summer. Then I have fun in the sun, drink beer and garden. I love all my lavender and herbs! It is a fun cycle. I have been thinking though. I need to spread out my pouring a little more during the summer, so I am not so bogged down from August till Jan. I love my "play" time though!
  7. Yep. Sometimes it's not worth it, by the time you smell it oob, sometimes you like it sometimes ya don't. Then burn test a few times for wicking.... you know the drill....all that to save a few bucks!? I learned the hard way. What a waste!
  8. I use the Ecosoya Pure and I rarely get wet spots.
  9. I always have to wick way up for ecosoya. In the 16oz, I use 2 CD 12's and in the same jar with 444 I use CD 8's. Ecosoya is harder to burn, I have found. hth
  10. That was my New Years resolution....is it New Years yet?? I think I might actually like it messy like this....that way I can SEE everything...I love all this stuff! I am really an organized person, but this business has just to much STUFF to organize. As soon as you put it away, it comes right back out again anyway!
  11. I am with Stella1952 with that I tend to ride with the changes of a particular wax. Not because I want to, but because I HAVE to. I purchase by the pallet, so I have no choice, but to work with what I have. Each pallet of wax has been different every time I get one. I can't say I have to TOTALLY wick differently with every new pallet, but there are different characteristics with each shipment. Sometimes I will have to wick up, or down or pour hotter, or cooler....it is very frustrating, but that is "natural soy". I don't know if I really believe that it is about the particular crop of soybeans... I mean, we have different crops with the vegetable shortening and corn oil we buy but do they look or feel different with each container? No, because they have more strict regulations for food because of the FDA. Soy wax is not a food, it is natural, or starts out that way and then it goes through the process to make an oil into a wax or higher melt point oil....anyway, it is not a food so not so strict of regulations to folllow, IMO. I bet the big guys get all the "GOOD" wax, lol. There is no way they would put up with all this!
  12. IMHO, there are only a couple of manufacturers of soy wax in the country....and there are a BUNCH of types of soy wax.....so, when there is a weird batch of soy, it all just trickles down to all the different types. Do I make any sense? Anyway, that's is what I have come to conclude!
  13. I use CD's as well with this wax. I had 2 different lot dates with my last pallet (can't believe they did that to me!) and the first 14 cases were a dream......then the last half were a nightmare! Terrible craters and sinkholes....have to do a repour on most all of them. Luckily things have slowed down a bit and I have some time to experiment with these last 9 cases...by the time I figure it out it will all be gone!! lol Anyway, the wicking has stayed the same!
  14. I feel like I'm starting all over too! This last batch of 444 dated 6-27-08 is CRATOR CITY! Check your box, see if that is the date you have. Boy does this lot suck. I have 9 cases left and have been struggling...tried everything! Love the scent throw though, just can't get it to look nice.
  15. Are you talking about room temp while burning? Because I know that will affect the burn. 10 degrees difference in air temp will make the candle burn differently. Try burning the candle in a warmer spot....if that is what you are talking about.
  16. It seems I get some mushrooming when I have the wick cut at a slant. That is why I want it cut straight across. I think I get how to clip them with the toenail clippers....it sounds simple....but when I go to do it I feel all clumsy. I have always used scissors so it feels weird to do it any other way. I just poured 900 candles and am down to my last 100 and finally got fed up with the slanted wick thing and trying to clip that point off. I wish I would have asked sooner! Oh well, now I know...thanks everyone for all your help!
  17. When you use the toenail clippers, where does the long leftover wick go when you are clipping?
  18. I am having trouble cutting my wicks after the candle is poured. I have used the wick cutter from BC, but it takes to long. So I just use a scissors. In order to cut the wick so it is not cut at an angle I bend the wick over just a bit and snip it, but this makes the wax pull away from the wick and crumble a bit around where the wax meets the wick...then I have to heat gun or press with my finger...it is becoming a pain. What do you all use to cut your wicks? I am cutting CD 14 and CD16 and they are kinda thick.
  19. Wow, those fire starters are really cute! Do they burn well? I just make mine for myself to use up leftover wicks and wax....but those are adorable! Now I want to make some CUTE ones!
  20. I think The Candlemakers Store is the cheapest for 415. I think it's $48.50 (?) Check them out...always gotta watch shipping though. I hate to make fire starters. I chop up leftover wicks..thats the part I hate. How do you make yours?
  21. I just had the show from HEAVEN! I brought in double what I normally do and I didn't come down on a single candle! It was the best show ever...very well organized and well run. What a blast that was! I was busy the entire time and it was in my home town so I didn't have to drive far. I set up mostly the night before, so that was easy. I wish all my shows were like this last one. I have another this weekend, so I have been busy restocking and working on a fundraiser (1000 candles!) due by the week before Thanksgiving. What am I doing on here you ask? Well, I am at work...not much to do right now....worrying about how I'm going to get all this done!
  22. Look at her (his?) feedback...some candles have gone for $49.99!! Cute, but.... No way! Somethins' up:confused:
  23. Thought I'd better post my results for anyone interested. I wicked down one size and added just a little less f/o and that seemed to help. The flames still dance a little, but much better!
  24. I just recently switched to 444 and now I am having problems with black soot-like swirls in the wax once the wax gets down to the bottom half of the jar. Never had this with my other wax. Throw is still great, flame, and melt pool still great. It's just this darn black stuff swirling in the wax. Sometimes it is just coming from one wick (I double wick these jars). It doesn't seem to happen on single wicked jars, although I color those and maybe I need to go back and check real close. Does anyone know what it is? Should I cut back on f/o? I really like the throw and I use 1.35 (roughly) pp of wax. I know it has something to do with the oxygen level because it doesn't happen until the bottom half. I just don't know how to fix it!
  25. Well that's a little better. Still a pretty expensive candle. What do you want to achieve by using the beeswax? Cause a little does go a long way...to much and it'll crack.
