  1. Well, I called Debbie. She was very nice about it, but did not offer any consolation. I don't know about you guys, but in my business I have given PLENTY away to gain a customer or two. She really didn't know why the lady (her mother) told me she was going to hold it for me. She said there was really nothing she could do. They make so little on a pallet, that there is no room to even give me a little discount. So now I have to decide. Do I swallow my pride and order from them anyway? Or find another wax and retest everything? I can't find this wax anywhere else close to me, especially at their prices. What to do, what to do..........
  2. I can't believe this! I was online putting together an order from WSP yesterday and noticed the wax I use was on sale. I have a fundraiser coming up and I am out of wax, so I called to order a pallet. The lady on the phone told me they only had a partial pallet (30 cases) left. I said that was fine, whatever I can get. Then she checked and said no, we have 2 full pallets left. I told her I wanted one for sure and would have to check on where to have it delivered to. I offered my cc # but she said no, she'll just put a hold on it and there would be no problems. I gave her my phone number just in case she needed it to get a cc# to process the sale so someone else wouldn't get the wax. She assured me they wouldn't sell it. Well, when I called back to tell them the location, she said " Oh, I'm sorry it sold." Can you believe that?! She said she can't sell the regular stock at that price because the manufacturer has strict rules on the selling price. I am so stinkin' mad. I told her it was terrible customer service and they are loosing me as a customer over this. Didn't seem to matter. They must have so much business what one lost customer. They have always been pretty good to me, but this was all it took to loose me. I can get wax somewhere else, but they can't get another customer as easily. I was thinking of changing waxes anyway, so this just pushed me over the edge. I know others on here have had problems with this company. Now I have experienced it first hand! I don't know if they get on here much to read this, but I say "WSP-Your customer service STINKS!"
  3. Hi Brandyanne, I don't use that wax but I do use those wicks for that jar sometimes. You will have to test to see if it'll work with your wax/fo. It would be a good place to start though. Sometimes I even have to go up to a HTP 1212 if the wax is really difficult and sometimes a 60C is just right. You'll just have to try it.
  4. Oh my gosh! I have fallen in LOVE with NG Iced Cinnamon Rolls! I have tried many others MC included and just can't smell them, or if I can I don't like them. But NG's ICR is to die for! That is very strange how we can have different opinions about certain fragrances.
  5. I have the problem with certain scents (food scents). I can't smell them while burning unless I am cooking meat! It is the weirdest thing. It has happened with many scents that my customers just love. I couldn't really see (smell) what all the fuss was about. Until......... I happened to be browning some ground chuck and WOW! Then I could smell it! Maybe that is what you need to do. I know it sounds REALLY strange. Has anyone ever heard of this happening before and why? Or is it just me? Try it, it may just work for you too!
  6. I have been using MC's Lavender Fields in my CP soaps. I haven't tried it in my soy candles yet. I need to order a Lavender and want to know if I should stick to MC's or does anyone know of a really good Lavender for CP and a good thrower in soy? TIA!
  7. It is good to know I am not the only one feeling this way about these craft shows. I have only been participating in craft shows for 3 years, but even my very first one I felt this way about the "party people". I was like "What are THEY doin' here?" No offense to anyone who is a consultant or whatever, but what does their business have to do with handmade crafts? Seems to me they should stick to home parties. Like I said before, no offense to anyone, it just doesn't seem right. Anyway, around here they are starting to call them something different then craft shows. They are calling them RETAIL SHOPPING EXPERIENCE. At least that name doesn't imply that it is only crafts. It includes everyone, and everything! I myself enjoy the juried shows the best. I am proud of what I do and think they should be juried (if it is a craft show). But...... The registration fees are getting WAY out of hand! Before I send in my hard earned cash, I check to see where the proceeds go. If it goes to a good cause, I don't mind it so much. But it seems like the really expensive ones are the shows that are put on by these companies. This is what they do, go around and collect tons of money from hard working people, so that those hard working people can drive, un-load, set up, sit and sell all day. Then take down, load up, drive home, unload again. And by the time we pay for gas, pay for registration, lunch and all our supplies, we MIGHT have enough for the registration fee for the next show! I think the people that put on these big shows take advantage of us hard working people. The fees are just rediculous. If you count how many vendors are at one of those shows and you know the fee, it adds up to a lot of money. Much, much more than it costs to rent out the Fairgrounds or wherever. They think they have us eating out of the palm of their hands! So usually the people that are making the REAL money at these shows are the food vendors (we all have to eat) and the people putting on the shows. The prices of these shows have doubled since I started 3 years ago. That is crazy! I have set a limit, and do not go to these (even if I want to really bad). Eventually, I hope more and more will refuse to pay these rediculous prices, and they will come down. Sorry so long..
  8. Most soys don't do this, so don't let that scare you off!
  9. Being that I pour down stairs in the basement, I never thought I had drafts. But there is a heat/air vent in the ceiling. I wonder if that causes a draft. I am going to tape that baby up and see what happens. I run another heater anyway, so it shouldn't change the room temp anyway. Gosh, what we chandlers go through to get a pretty candle!
  10. It is funny you should mention this. I bought a candle from a craft show (I like to try out the competition) and the candle was foaming while it burned. I never saw anything like it! It smelled good (not as good as mine of course) but had that frothy thing going on. The name of the fragrance was Spiced Cranberry. Do you have a problem with all the scents or is Spiced Cranberry the culprit?
  11. I have poured it at 125, 130, 135, 140, 145, on up and just can't get away from them. Warmed the jars, cooled in a box, out of the box, you name it. Way to time consuming filling in the sink holes and smoothing out the tops. I poured slow too. I still have some though. Maybe I'll try again. It was a couple of months ago, so the conditions might be right now. Soy can be very strange!
  12. Yep, I tried the 464. I got major sink holes, a little to soft for me. I like the wax I am using, but I would like to try others that have better shipping rates or better yet, something I can pick up. Also, it's fun to just PLAY! I think I tried the 415 already. I will have to go check my notes. Bad memory! :embarasse I know I didn't try EZ soy, but if they are the same wax I don't think I'll bother (if I already tried the 415). Great price though!
  13. Now that the big holiday rush is over, I want to play with some different wax. Does anyone know what brand NG's soy wax is? I don't want to get something I have tried before. I know I read something on here before, but can't find the thread. TIA P.S. DH is in Japan for a month, so I get to play all I want!
  14. Also, I am a professional photographer for weddings and other events Did she stay at a Holiday Inn last night?
  15. I just wanted to add some closure to this topic. I had a meeting with the owner and she agreed to the $4.00 wholesale price on the 8oz. as long as she also purchased the other larger sizes I offer. We also agreed to never advertise more than a 25% sale. This way she can have a sale anytime she wants and I can mark them at that at a show if I want. It all worked out! I make a little less on the 8 oz. but the other 3 sizes will make up for it. They also have a beautiful wooden cupboard to display my (their) candles on. I was shocked at how prepared they were! I actually think they already decided they wanted them before I compromised on the price. But hey, now we will make more $ because of the prominent display. I am glad I thought it through and had all of your input! Thanks!
  16. There is another reason why I am considering lowering my wholesale price. I have had a little competition lately with a company that offers the same size jar for only $2.75! I don't know how they do it. I buy the jars by the pallet, the wax in 200lb. weight, the oils in 5lb. bottles. I can barely get MY cost to that and that is their wholesale price! Even if they don't pay ANY shipping it would have to cost them more than that. Now I know they are not doubling their money. They would have to make that candle for $1.37! NO WAY! I even had a client give me one to try out. It was actually very good, although I suspect some paraffin (no frost, at all) and it is labeled soy. They also offer private labeling. This store carried the competition candle through Christmas and sold out. I came along (actually I was at their outlet store) and noticed they didn't have any soy candles, so I approached them about mine. I happened to have a 28oz. in the car that day, so I gave it to them to try. I few days later the owner called me and said she really loved it and thought it was very classy with how I dress them up and she would be interested in carrying it. That is when the discussion started about my website and craftshow prices. So I have the competition to worry about too.
  17. I wasn't told that by my insurance guy. Hmmm.... doesn't suprise me. Well, if I just put my company name, no address or anything does that cover the insurance part and destroy that separation from the two businesses? Those of you who wholesale/private label/ and retail what do you do about your retail prices? They can run a sale anytime they want and undercut my prices right? I am rethinking the wholesale game. It is an awful lot of work for much less pay. Maybe I will just stick to my retail business!
  18. I have been searching for an answer for an hour now, time to give it up and just ask! I am in the process of getting this private label account with a big store in a town 25 miles away. She says she can't purchase from me unless she doubles her money. OK, I get that. But she also says that I can't sell my candles on my website for less than hers. Now if she is going the private label route, doesn't that make her company candle her own, and my company logo/label mine. If I don't put any contact info (of mine) on her label, why can't I sell my candle for less if I want? My DH says it's gouging (sp?), but I say it's two separate businesses. I tell him that you can buy a can of Lysol for $3.95 at one store and $4.75 at the next. This wouldn't even be the exact same candle, because of the label. I can't get the price at shows etc. that she can in her upscale store. Plus, it costs me $2.50 to make her candle. If I sell them to her for $4.00, I am only making $1.50 per candle. She is making $4.00, because she retails them for $8.00. I told her I would private label for free, since she has her logo all ready. If we have to keep the prices the same, should I lower my wholesale cost to her, which will lower her retail cost, which will allow me to sell mine at a lower retail. Say, sell to her at $3.75, retail at $7.50. I think I could sell them for that. I was just having trouble selling them at $8.00. I would then have to lower my wholesale cost to my other accounts as well, so those would be the same. My profit isn't that great with wholesale accounts anyway,(especially with increasing shipping costs!) so to lower them so I can also sell them at shows is my burning question. Make even less in wholesale, so I can turn a decent profit in my retail. I don't think I should have to keep the retail prices the same as hers. What do you all think? Sorry so long-winded!
  19. I was wanting to try the frostop also. I have been waiting for them to have it available for months now! What is this mysterious stuff made of that they can't have it in stock? Anyone know? TIA!
  20. Just wondering, how do you catch a cold from fumes from f/o's? I thought you catch a cold from a germ or virus. Is it dangerous to breath in the high concentration of fragrance? TIA!
  21. OK, I tried triple wicking w/ 51's. It burned a mp of over 1/2 inch in 2 1/2 hours and the flames started to get dimmer and dimmer (drowning). I think if I add any less oil, I won't get much of a scent throw. With all my other jars I use 1 oz. pp and either use the standard wick for that particular jar or bump up one. Why can't I get this combo to work?!!! I have great success with 10 other fragrances with this jar. It gets a perfect mp, with the 60's or 62's. It's almost like the cotton is too absorbant or something and saturates the wick too much. Does any one know of a wick that is maybe less absorbant? Maybe that question is a little silly, but I am grasping at straws here! PS~ Would it be unethical to sell a candle that burns itself out after 5 or 6 hours? It relites fine after it cools and can burn another 5-6 hours at a time.
  22. I am having trouble wicking a 16 oz. apoth. jar w/ MC Cinnamon Sticks. I have tried many different combo's. Ecosoya Pure w/ 1oz. f/o, 2-60's, 2-62's, 2-HTP 1212 (way too hot) 2-CD 12's, 2-HTP 126's. All of which, burn good for the first 4 to 5 hours and then get weaker and weaker flames until they about burn out (some actually did). So, I lowered the amount of f/o to 7/8 oz pp. Still the same problem. I then tried GB 464 (an easier to burn wax) -same problem. I have an order for over a hundred jars of this fragrance and can't keep it burning for longer than 5 hours! I know that really no one is supposed to burn for longer than 4, but still, I wan't it to be able to burn longer than that because most people will burn for longer periods of time. Has anyone been able to wick this jar with MC's Cinnamon Sticks?! ~Dana
  23. Isbennis~ You need to contact your supplier about the ecosoya problem. This has been an issue lately with this wax. Don't know if it's just a certain lot number or what, but I have heard from other boards about this problem. Normally, this is a great wax!
  24. I tried this wax and can't get it out of the molds. I don't like to put them in the freezer because then they frost. Any other ideas on how to get them out? TIA! ~Dana
  25. I don't think it's the weather change. I use ecosoya pure too, and it has changed. I am having to wick up on almost all my scents. When I color it, I am now getting milky spots on my jars (not like frosting). I have the problem of using up 8 cases (400 lbs.). I am working with it though, but it has been a challenge (not to mention a big expense). I get my wax from WSP. Where do you get yours? I didn't really know who to contact about this. I figured I'd just use it up and go from there. I know wax can change from lot to lot, but this was crazy! Don't they do a quality control check?
