  1. I don't use their wick guide because they don't carry the CD's (which I use). But I do order their FO's and LOVE THEM!! I purchase the ones with 3 leafs and get a fantastic hot and cold throw. So far, my favorites are Cranberry Marmalade, Rain Water, Strudel & Spice, Banana Nut Bread and Peach.
  2. I've never wicked an 8oz tin but use CD-18's and CD-20's (single wicked) in my 6oz tins with no heat problem. I can easily pick them up without burning my fingers. Not sure what to tell you but my first thought was that the double wicking is what's causing your heat problem.
  3. Mountain Lake (BCN) - Clean and very fragrant (strong) Ocean Mist (BCN) - Clean and fragrant (medium strength) Sea Breeze (BCN) - Clean and light fragrance I get lots of comments on these scents as being a nice, clean scent.
  4. I love them! They look very Summer-like....cool and refreshing.
  5. Thanks for bringing up this topic, Joan. I use EZsoy, also, and add my FO and dye chip at 175....and I STILL have problems with certain colors producing those little spots. I've even cut the dye chips into tiny pieces, stirred for a good 3 minutes or more to disolve them and still end up with those spots. I'm going to try the heat gun tip. But what would you put the dye chip in to heat/melt it??? A large spoon?...a Dixie cup?
  6. Thanks, Susan, Jami and Pam for your helpful responses. I'll go ahead and heat to 200 and stir less...sounds like that could work. Otherwise, this is a beautiful wax and I'm getting pretty good results. I just don't want to lose any scent with all this heating. Thanks again!! :highfive:
  7. I'm using KY All Natural Votive & Pillar Blend which I heat to 190 to melt, add FO and dye and is suppose to be poured no lower than 175. Well, as I'm stirring (and stirring!) in the FO to blend it well, the temp drops to below 175 so I'm having to reheat it back to pouring temperature. I'm really afraid I might be losing some FO strength by reheating it. I read that if I heat it to 200 to melt, it causes cracking....so heating it higher to allow for the stirring time doesn't seem to be an option. (Or do I have this info wrong?) Does anyone have any suggestions? I appreciate any advice! TIA
  8. Another test would be to make your Watermelon candle completely without dye and use the same wick size you were using. See how that works out. While in most cases the FO is the culprit, I never underestimate the evil doings of heavy dye or specific dye colors (hence, I will never use Aqua again in a wicked candle). I've had this 'clogged wick' problem you mention happen to me before so I tested and tested until I discovered that it was, in fact, the dye. Good luck!
  9. Thank you for sending them, Jenn!
  10. Mozzie, Me, too I just sent you my e-mail address, also. TIA
  11. Oooooooo, bath bombs!! I'd LOVE to learn how to make those! And I'm inching toward doing some M&P soaps but haven't attempted it yet.
  12. Very pretty! They all look so smooth and creamy and I love the pillars!
  13. Best of luck! I'm looking forward to seeing your photos. I like when people follow their dreams.
  14. I just started selling and have had just enough orders to get my feet wet. Mostly, I'm enjoying making my candles and giving them as gifts. This really is one of the most pleasurable hobbies I've ever done. I made up a basket containing my special Aroma Buds, a tart burner and assorted tarts/melts and gave them out as gifts yesterday. FUN! :highfive: Enjoy your candle making and Happy Mother's Day! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ www.aromafieldscandles.com
  15. Very beautiful! Love the color and all the pretties you've put into it.
  16. BCN is one of the suppliers I use and I'm very impressed with their fragrance oils. I use their EZsoy for my container candles and get a great hot and cold throw with many of their fragrance oils. Some of my favorites are: Baby Powder Chocolate Raspberry Roll Hot Fudge Brownie Ocean Mist Mountain Lake Lilac Warm Vanilla Sugar Leather Coconut Fresh Brewed Coffee Wildberry Zinger Tea Grandmas Kitchen Sweet Pea Jack Frost They have a lot to choose from so there will be scents you like and scents you don't like....but I've never heard anything bad about their scents in general. 17. When I get dancing flames, it usually means I'm using too large a wick.
  18. Baby Powder from BCN is true to it's name and has a great throw.
  19. I worked with CandleScience's Cranberry Marmalade yesterday making a birthday gift for my daughter. The cold throw on this scent is fantastic! I also worked with BCN's Ocean Mist today and can smell it when I walk into the kitchen where it sits...but the aroma of Cranberry Marmalade fills the whole house. And I haven't even burned anything yet! This is just from making them. Starbucks coffee sound yummy!
  20. I got a kick out of that! Very nice site! Easy to navigate and the photos look professional. Hope you get lots of business!
  21. Those are amazing! They look so real I like the one with raisens. You sure are a talented lady!
  22. So the answer to above question will reflect whether a person is "task oriented" or "goal oriented"? If so, it's a wee simplistic and doubtful that it brings forth a solid consensus. But I do like polls .......so thanks for the post.
