  1. That's what I'm calling this anyway. It's very floral, spring, and a bit fruity. A little blurry, but I'll take better pics next time.
  2. So yesterday I made my soap which turned out almost exactly the way I wanted. I was going to pipe the top, but decided not too. after cutting it I kinda wish I would have. But it smells soooo good!! It's the blend I made out of pink willow and lilac, Kai, botanical orchard and nectar, and fruit slices. I think there were a couple other scents in there also, but I forgot what they are and didn't write them down. Then I made some feather pillars, a cinnamon bun candle (for an order) along with some cinnamon bun melts, and a couple glass-glow containers (also for an order) Well, everything on the pillars was going fine, but stupid miss impatient me, unmolded one of the pillars too soon and the inside was still molten liquid, and leaked everywhere when I pulled the wick pin out. UGH so then trying to salvage it, I remelted and remolded. Well, apparently I forgot to put more wick putty around the wick pin so it wouldn't leak. LOL Well, I got frustrated, rigged it so I put it back in my presto to continue to set, leak whatever it wanted to do. When it was set, I took the mold out of the presto, and remelted all the leaked wax and made another small candle out of that. Well, today, not matter what I do I can't get that mold to NOT leak. I've tried everything. putty, duct tape, magnetic tape, you name it. Tried 6 pillars, all leaked, so I gave up, did the same as I did yesterday, and will go back downstairs when I have more patience to deal with it. LOL I also made another soap today scented with a mix of strawberry preserves, vanilla, kiwi, and teeny tiny bit of coconut banana blast. So teeny tiny, you can't even smell it. I also decided to try my new little light box that everyone was gaga over a couple months ago that is powered by USB. Gotta say, I LOVE it. It's small though, and I can only do 1 product at a time. the pictures are in my iPad, so later today when everything is finally complete and I'm done taking pictures, I will download them in the appropriate sections. Now - it's naptime.
  3. You can improvise by using a flathead screwdriver, or you can go to an art store, Michael's, hobby lobby, anything like that will have something similar. They are usually used in ceramics, or pottery, clay work, that type of thing.
  4. They will work. They are the exact same size as the "16oz" at the other place, so yeah, for 5 cases, the base price is slightly more, but the shipping price is less, which makes the overall price about $30 cheaper. Thank for your suggestion. I appreciate it. I must have had a brain fart. I didn't even think to look at the specs. DUH
  5. I looked at Lonestar, but didn't consider those because of them being 22oz and I use 16 oz, however, after looking at the specs, they might be the same size I use. their 16oz jars are the country comfort, so I dismissed them. Maybe I'll put in an order for 1 case, I need some other stuff from there anyway, so it might work out.
  6. I am down to my last 3 cases of Apothecary Jars and need to order more but A) I'm having a hard time finding true apothecary jars, most are the country comfort jars - which is fine, but I'd rather have the thin type with no lip and B ) where I do find apothecary jars, the shipping is outrageous. A place 1 state away, for $43 worth of jars, shipping is $49. For $90 worth of jars shipping is $88, It's so ridiculous! I know everyone always complains about shipping but my god it's gotten bad...
  7. I think it's the other way around. I don't think it's paraffin users that want soy, but soy users that want paraffin to bring a better scent throw to their soy, and (in the cas of soy now) want something to bring a better burn to soy;.
  8. Cheap or free, easy to use, and a handy tool is why they are popular. I use the handle of a wooden spoon that I've had for about 18 years.
  9. As others have said, pigments will clog your wick and your candle will not burn correctly. Also pigments don't really color the wax, and could end up sinking to the bottom of the jar/mold depending on how slowly they cool. I agree with Candy about getting the free stuff though, you never know when you might want to use it in other applications.
  10. I personally double wick, but I use 2 small CD wicks for my gg in my 16oz apothecary. However, I do that to keep consistent with the look of all my candles, but I know there are some out there that have successfully single wicked 16oz apothecary jars. It can be done, I just don't do it. Apothecary's are the only jars I use - I use the 16oz and the 5oz for my line.
  11. You want to heat Palm wax at least to 200 if you want the beautiful crystallisation that it is famous for. Also it will incorporate the scent better at a higher temp. I use CD wicks with my Palm, and in an 4" apothecary I would start my testing with a CD 12 and go from there. I never got the CSN's to work for me the way I wanted.
  12. TallTayle - the admin of the board. She has does co-ops, and PS is one of the FO's she has. She sent me some just recently, but I have no idea of her inventory, so you can PM her.
  13. I think she meant ScentWorks is closed and Daystar is just out of Pink Sugar? That's how I read the post anyway.
  14. TT's dupe is very similar to Peaks. Check with her, she may have the amount you need, but I don't know. I haven't (and won't) buy from Peak since they abruptly (AGAIN) closed.
  15. I'm not sure anymore - I got mine from Peak many years ago and well before they closed. Here is a thread talking about them -
  16. Use a wick centering tool that look like this - They are wonderful.
  17. I use paraffin for pillars - IGI 1343 with additional additives, IGI 4625 with additional additives, Pre-production pillar with no additives,. Depending on the type of pillar I am making, determines the type of wax I use for that application. Also paraffin for containers, J50, and will sometimes mix IGI 4794 (a votive wax) and will put in additional additives depending on what I'm doing at the time. I use palm - glass glow for containers. For my palm pillars, I use Starlite or Starburst (can't remember). Feather Palm, PQ Palm, Quartz palm and there is one more that I'm about to run out of that I can't remember the name of. Votives I use IGI 4794 (paraffin) with additional additives. For my wax melts I either use one of my palm waxes (doesn't matter which one, they are all great for melts) or I will mix IGI 4794 with IGI 4625 50/50. For my hurricanes (my "forever" type) I use IGI 1260, -no scent, but I do add stearic to help with release and opacity.
  18. I think people are a bit gun-shy with any soy wax coming back or into the market, regardless of how good it "used" to be. That would be my guess anyway.
  19. I use 4636 and I double wick with 2 44-18z with almost every scent.
  20. No it wasn't Sweet Pea - I have Peak's sweet pea, and even thought it's a floral it already has a slight fruity scent too it. I blend that one with Moonlight Path. I've never kept a plumeria around because it's such a light thrower, so it wasn't that one either. NG's wedding day is very complex, and I feel I can smell at least 4-5 different florals in it. To me it smells just like walking into a floral shop - it is not sweet/fruity at all. All floral with a bit of green.
  21. I can't think of the floral name off the top of my head, even though I can clearly see the bottle in my mind! LOL but the blenders will be a bit of botanical nectar, a little muscadine, and some wild berry musk along with the floral. The floral I'm thinking of smells a lot like NG's wedding day, however wedding day is not skin safe so I don't use it often. UGH the one I'm thinking is very floral, and is skin safe.
  22. Yes, this. I think it would look better if all the wording were in Pink.
  23. I have my next experimental scent blend. I know exactly what I'm going to mix to get a floraly/grapey/berry/fruity blend.
  24. I personally like SL in my soaps. For more than just making them easier to unmold. They give the soaps a unique feel, like a gentle slip and it also "tightens" up the lather a bit. Hard to explain, especially for me, since I have a hard time describing things. I just know I like my soaps more with SL vs without.
