  1. On top of what kandlekrazy said, think of the cost. IMO a 100% truly organic candle is going to be too expensive to produce, and wouldn't it have to be a pillar since glass containers are not really organic? IDK, I've never really tried to do organic, because I honestly truely do not believe they are the end-all product. I think at best they may be about 1-3% 'better' than just an ordinary everyday product. That is totally my opinion, based on my research and my experience, and I get that some people do not agree with that, but that's where I stand.
  2. Or don't worry about it. If it bothers YOU then yeah, go ahead, but I guarantee 99% of your customers are not going to A) notice or B ) care.
  3. LOL before I got my wick setter took, I used a hollowed out pen.
  4. That's exactly how I level mine as well. Quick, easy, and most importantly, level.
  5. For me, for the first time I use that mold, I figure out the volume the mold will hold, then calculate that to the percent of wax. I always melt a bit more. Once the candle is complete (after all repours, unmolding, etc.,) I weigh the pillar. That will tell me in weight how much wax I need for that mold. First pour I will always have extra, and that will be used for the repour.
  6. I use a 24 flat braid in my skinny pyramid, and a 30 flat braid in my large (fatter) pyramid and it burns great. but I use either 4625 or my production blend paraffin wax for my pyramids.
  7. Also check out the NCA website will have stuff, and I believe maybe the IGCA might have something (but maybe not, since it's really just a club)
  8. I do not envy you soy makers at all. My burn is different in the winter vs. summer, but it's not extreme enough to change wicks. In winter the melt pool forms faster, and maybe slightly deeper, but nothing unmanageable, and nothing I feel I would need to change wicks for. As for throw, in the winter, I keep a warm house, but that's mainly because it's closed all up, I don't usually put the heat on above 70, and I absolutely DETEST AC, so unless it gets unbearably hot with our house open (doors, windows etc.,) the AC doesn't go on until it says it's about 80 in the house. (which I don't ever believe it's that warm in there) However, with all that said, yes the throw in the summer does seem slightly better than in the winter.
  9. Depends - do you want to double wick, or single wick? If double wicking, I'd use 2 44-18z, or if you are single wicking, I would start with a 52z, but of course it will depend on scent and other variables as well. And if you want to use zincs. I know a lot of people have had luck in the J waxes and even the 4630 with LX, and RRD wicks. I've never worked with those, so wouldn't be able to tell you.
  10. How old is the mold? That will start to happen to mine if the silicone starts to deteriorate. You may need to look into getting new molds.
  11. haha yes, I glitter everything. Even my masculine soaps. I just can't help myself.
  12. Thank you, Yes, I think the 2 would mix great for tarts. I know Lonestar is another one that carries the 4636, but those 2 are really the only ones I know of for sure.
  13. I double wick my apothecary jars with zinc wicks. with the AZ heat this wax should have great glass adhesion, but even though it is harder than the 4630 it is still a soft wax. If you want a harder container wax you can look into 4786, but that is not a one pour wax
  14. Honestly I think gremlins. LOL I couldn't figure anything out, unless I just didn't clean it well enough because once I cleaned it as much as I could by getting everything nice and smooth (which I honestly thought it was already) and re-puttied the wick hole, vioila, no leakage. My molds are super well seasoned and really just a good wipe down usually gets them super clean, especially working with palm that normally just slides right out and doesn't leave much residue at all. So - yeah, who the heck knows. LOL
  15. If it indeed is the same as Peaks, it will soap like a dream for you! I've never had a floral so well behaved as Rose Bouquet from Peak. I agree, Peaks fruit slices was the BEST I've ever smelled. I've been getting samples from all over, and haven't found any that compare. NG's is the closest scent OOB, however, it doesn't seem as strong to me. There are so many that I am going to miss from Peak once my stash is gone, but I will persist!!
  16. 4636 was the old J50 owned by Astorlite before selling to IGI. It is a true one pour, and holds scent and color well, throws nice, etc., The main difference is 4636 is a bit harder in texture, (not as soft/vaseline in texture) but also much harder to come by these days. I'm only aware of a handful of companies that actually still carry the 4636. I've used the J50/4636 for 20 years, and it's just what I have perfected and am used too, so that is why it's my go to for recommendations. I've never worked with 4630.
  17. I ended up getting the mold fixed, but man what a PITA.
  18. Have you tried "The Everything Candlemaking Book"? I have a ton of books in my craft library, but most are like you said, how to's and recipe's. I also have the one I mentioned, however, it's been about 12 years since I looked at it, and can't remember how technical it is. I'm sure by now they have current editions of the book though too...
  19. They are the jars I am/was looking for, but with shipping it's still more expensive to me than Lonestar is/was even with adding some additional FO's. After extensive searching (and actually looking at the specs of the jars I want to use LOL), Lonestar was it for me. Although pricier per case, the shipping averages out to be anywhere from $30-$50 cheaper than any other place, and that lowers my overall cost of the jar, so I went with them. For me, Candle Science shipping was the most expensive by FAR and they are the closest to me by literally a thousand miles. LOL So they are out for me. Shipping was more expensive than the actual cases of product were from them.
  20. I smelled TT's scent works version side by side with Peaks and OOB they smell exact.
  21. I use IGI 4636, (the old J50 wax) and zinc wicks. However, when this final batch I have is gone, I'm going to switch to using all palm for my containers.
  22. Thank you! It does smell so good. I'll be saving one of these bars for myself for sure.
  23. The cinnamon buns are - ... drumroll please ... - Cinnamon Buns!! LOL The pink ones are TT's Pink Sugar. - which smells exactly like Peak's OOB in case anyone is wondering - I compared them side by side. The blue one is Ocean. I have a seashell container that I am going to use the glass glow in, and scent that ocean as well. Today I made a Raspberry Sangria pillar and also a Lemongrass pillar. I'll unmold them tomorrow. Decided I was in no hurry.
