  1. Those are great! Love the box and your labels are stunning as always!
  2. Since KOH is only about 92% pure, I always only do only a 1-2% SF. I used Summerbee's calculator until I could adjust my SM3 to have the same readouts consistently. I've never had a problem with getting clear LS, or really having a mild soap (since I use glycerin instead of water to dissolve my KOH) My biggest problem is dilution rates and making sure it's just the right consistency and not too thick or worse, too thin! LOL There is a fine line that I seem to cross every single time. LOL To help dilution go faster I do add about 2% Sodium lactate to my dilution solution as well.
  3. I used to slam it on my driveway until the echo sounded like a gunshot and my SWAT neighbor came around the corner with his gun drawn! LOL Now I just prop it up against something and hit it with a hammer. I also keep hitting it until I have chunks of all sizes so it's easier to weigh.
  4. I could never get the magnets to work right. They leaked worse than anything else I ever tried, so I gave up on those very quickly. Others have success, but I never did, which is why I use the system I use. Never a leak. Ever.
  5. I have the free version, and really like it but haven't really had time to play with it much. At only $33 a year, I'm sure it's well worth it.
  6. What I do to get my KOH to dissolve in the glycerin is add the KOH to the glycerin, and then gently heat it up on a stove top burner in my SS pan. By doing it that way it avoids the popping and cracking that KOH solutions are known to do. It takes about 5 minutes after it starts getting warm to completely dissolve, but it does eventually. This topic actually makes me want to make up another liquid soap batch. It's been on my to do list for about a year, but I just never get to it. One of these days. LOL
  7. I did a Sunflower/Coconut/Cocoa Butter GLS soap once and the paste smelled amazing! Nutty with just a hint of cocoa - I didn't scent it because I loved the 'raw' scent so well. That was my very first glycerin liquid soap (about 7 years after my first/last attempt at the water method that failed miserably) I only made 8oz oils - can't remember how much actual diluted soap it made. (but I never really got it right anyway... LOL)
  8. I don't use your wax, but I wick my paraffin with a 44z. Not sure that would work with soy. And for my glass glow a CD 7 is perfect.
  9. Ditto what TT said. Some places will specify "vegetable stearic" and that is the palm stearic.
  10. I make GLS (the Glycerin Liquid Soap method) I've only made about 6 batches so far, but it is so much easier (for me) than the water method, and it's also faster. My main problem is diluting. I can never seem to get it right. I either get it too thin or too thick, and when it's too thick and I try to thin it, I then get it too thin. LOL TallTayl, I'd love to read a blog of yours on Liquid Soap.
  11. Most people use red/black for their dragon's blood, and that's why I don't want red. I know I'm weird. Maybe, I will go with red for recognition sake... I like the idea of blue, maybe I will go with blue/red. Or stick with my plan of purple? Either way, y'all will know when I make it because I'll talk about it and show it off... LOL
  12. I'm going to be making a Dragon's Blood soap very soon, but am contemplating colors. I know this will discolor to a very dark soap, which is fine, I'm not going to color the base, and take a portion out unscented to color. My dilemma? What to color the unscented portion. I'm debating between purple, green, or a combo of one or the other with white swirls (so purple/white or green/white) but can't figure which one I would like more. So it's up to a vote - which of these would YOU guys think would look best? I'll probably not get to it until next Saturday, but that will give me time to plan it out.
  13. $13.05 at Amazon, and if you have Prime, free shipping http://www.amazon.com/Plaid-34008-Stencil-Cutter/dp/B003W0O790/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427655702&sr=8-1&keywords=electric+stencil+cutter
  14. Right? I need to look to see what they have and put in an order.
  15. LOL on the ceiling? Oh no!! I've never had a volcano out of the crock, but I have had an extreme over heater in the mold that crawled up, out and over the sides of the mold and separated. (had to rebatch that one) Soaping is always interesting, isn't it?
  16. Looks fun. I bet the kids/grandkids would really enjoy it.
  17. That's GREAT! Don't you love it when the little things make us happy! I'm so gald you had a melt success. Helps to keep you motivated to keep making! Just some info... The pin-pricks (air bubble looking things) could be from pouring to hot. My pillars generally don't have a super duper strong cold throw. When you pick them up and sniff them, they smell great, but you can't smell them from across the room or anything. Hot throw is different. I can usually smell them from a 3 room radius depending on where I burn them..
  18. Ah, that's probably it. It was back in 2000 when we bought our house, so, quite a while ago. LOL
  19. sounds like everyone is busy this weekend!!! I got my severance check (deposit) today so I may end up going shopping this weekend. YAY. Vicky, my son got a trap thrower for Christmas and my husband got a bench rest to sight in the rifles. They haven't had a chance to go play yet though... Possibly this summer.
  20. I would love to just sleep and not move this weekend. LOL This new job is kicking my butt. I love it and it's incredibly easy work, but who knew staring at a computer for 11 hours a day could be so physically and mentally exhausting? Anyway, that's what I WANT to do. What I'm actually going to do is go to a quilt show with my mom Saturday morning, then clean and laundry pretty much the rest of the weekend. We are finally having the carpet installers come install our bedroom carpet on Wednesday so we have to clean for that. That's about it. I got a huge Mad Oils order in, so what I really need to do before making anything is do a complete inventory. I need to find a better system for that. Actually I need to just stick with my system but be MUCH better at updating when I use something. I am so terrible at that, so I never know what I have. Bleh... Anyway, that's about it for me. What's everyone else up to this weekend? I want to live vicariously through you guys!!
  21. I like them both, but I'm with you and like the one without glitter a bit better. Oh and try iridescent glitter. It goes with everything, because it's clearish, it picks up the colors around it. I have about 13 different glitter colors and end up using the iridescent more than anything else.
  22. Wow - Allstate is one of the ones that wouldn't cover me at all, and wouldn't provide a separate policy, so that's how I ended up with State Farm and a separate policy before going with the guild. Allstate told me if something were to happen due to me making in my house (aka fire) that I would be SOL (LOL they didn't actually say SOL but close enough!!)
