I am a busy stay at home mom to four kids ages 6, 4, 2, and 2 months. When time allows I dabble in photography and make hair bows for my 2 girls. I am new to candle making and I would love to create a business out of it.

  1. Thank you for all of your help. I will be ordering the wick test kits and I will definitely be double wicking.
  2. That is great. I hope to be there one day soon myself.
  3. Okay, I am getting my order ready & I need some help with where to start with testing wicks. Here are the details... I am ordering all of these from Candle Science: Golden Brands 464 wax 16 oz. apothecary Jars -Height & Diameter is 4" I really don't know what the difference is between the CSN and LX series wicks. So I don't know which one to use & I have no clue what size/sizes to start with for testing. Any help is appreciated.
  4. Good info, Fredron. I am just getting started in candle making & I'm not making any to sell just yet. I'm just making them for myself & for gifts. When my baby is a little older & I have more free time, I do plan to further my candle making venture into a business. I will definitely keep your suggestions in mind. Jennifer
  5. LOL! I just realized that typo in my original post! :rolleyes2
  6. Thank you all for your tips. I will be getting a PP very soon!
  7. Thank you all for your input. I am so glad that I found this site. You all have been so helpful. :smiley2: I do have a few questions about using a PP. Do you use a ladle(sp?) to get your melted wax into a Pouring Pot to add your FO and color? Will I need a different thermometer or does the PP monitor the temp? Also, any tips you want to share with me?
  8. I am new to candle making and have only made a few candles so far. I am gearing up for another order of wax, FO, and such and was wondering if it is worth it to get the Presto Pot. I used the double broiler method with the other candles. Also, I see some Presto Pots come with a spigot...are those better/easier that the PP without one?
  9. Thank you! That is exactly what they are!!! Thank you all for your help.
  10. Here is the website. I didn't know if I was allowed to post a link or not... http://www.soylightgifts.com/index.cfm I also just got the picture thing to work! Hope this helps.
  11. I'll try to add a picture from their online catalog. Cool, it worked. If posting this picture is against the rules, let me know and I will take it out. Anyway, this is what I am looking for. Anyone seen these jars?
  12. No, that's not it. I've been to the Jar Store and I couldn't find it there. I dont' know if I am allowed to post a link to the page where these candles are but they are made by Soy Light Gifts. They are the jars at the top of their home page in all white where they have "Naturally Elegant" written. They look similar to the studio jars, but they have the "footed" thing going on...kinda hard to explain.
  13. I don't know the real name for the jar I want, but it is just like the square footed jar only it is round. I'd post a picture but I don't know how. :embarasse I saw it on a particular candle company's website & I love the look. I was able to find the square footed jars, but not the round one. Anyone know what I'm talking about? Jennifer
  14. Thanks. I found the link to the list of suppliers by state. Unfortunately the closest one to me is still over 2.5 hours away. With gas prices the way they are, shipping is almost as cheap in most cases. I appreciate your help. Jennifer
  15. Thanks! I am trying to decide on my jars now. Jennifer
