ScentedPleasurez
Have you ever had a fragrance that you couldnt give away? I had a floral fragrance that EVERYONE was turning their nose up to, i changed the name and color and it flew out the door, same fragrance though. bfroberts
LOL....no, I've never had that happen, but I'm not surprised. We have a wall and a half of hanging t-shirts. What sells best changes if I rearrange them. I'm sure there's science behind it, but I'm not smart enough to figure it out. What was that scent and what name and color did you change it to? (if you don't mind sharing)

(if you don't mind sharing) I think alot of times what sells best happens to be what they come across first. If they happen to walk along a wall looking at it they are more likely to buy something they first come across than to buy what they find at the end of it all. I am one of the oddities I like looking at it all and find that i tend to buy something more times than not towards the end of items for some reason lol. sorry if that does not make the most sense battling a cold here so my mind is kinda blah atm.

My best seller in room spray is my worst seller in candles and melts.

ellajoan
There is definitely a psychology to it! One of our current best sellers was a total DUD until we changed it's name--then Boom! Sold like crazy. We also put out best sellers on the ends, so when people pick up the first one to smell they have a better chance of liking it. If they like the first one they smell, they are more likely to smell others. People often are "shy" to approach (no one wants the hard sell, and some vendors can be obnoxious), but we've discovered that the more they interact w/ the product the greater chance they'll buy.

Sebleo
Lonestar has a fragrance called tree lighting, which I love. When I was looking for new scents to try I saw the exact same fragrance description for another scent in a different category. So, I emailed them thinking they had the wrong description and wanted to know what that one smells like. They said it's the exact same fragrance, they just renamed it because tree lighting doesn't sell well, but that one does. At least they use the same description word for word so as a customer you don't buy it under two different names!
kandlekrazy
Clean Cotton was mine, rename to Springtime Fresh and it sold. I guess I'm not one of those people because I don't care about a name when shopping candles, I want a smell that I like.

I don't like the name, either, but many bought it just because of the name. Odd, huh? Same thing happened with "Lick Me All Over". Go figure.

Hopie
I've had to explain that "Lick Me All Over" is because it smells like a lollipop. I hate stupid names on fragrances! Monkey Farts? That's another one I don't like. Creative is one thing, but..stupid is just well....STUPID!

Lol I have gotten some rude comments when I tried the original names of some of these scents ,this is the reason I changed them. Some people do not have a sense of humor kwim. It is strange how some will buy the scent for the name & others get offended really lol...I definitely had to change the lush scent sex bomb to Sexy Bomb lol.
