ehatch1
Hi everyone, I have wanted to try patchouli in my soy GB444 container candles for ages now and have begun the hunt for the perfect fragrance. I am dying to try Lebermuth, since everyone raves about it, but I can't justify the hefty price + small order fee + shipping. I had heard that Bulk Apothecary might carry the same oil, but it just arrived today and to me it smells horribly of alcohol and has an overall harsh smell. Not the earthy, calming patch I was looking for. I poured one anyway and will wait for it to cure, just in case. But usually, if it smells this bad from the beginning, things don't get much better. I'd like to try Fillmore's patch next. Anybody have experience with this one before I bite the bullet and spend more $$?
AL83
Re: LebemuthI see a Patchouli fragrance oil listed on their Clearance list. I would call them to see how much they have left of the clearance patchouli oil. They also offer samples of their clearance oils. Trappeur
The only thing about getting one on their clearance rack is they won't be carrying it anymore and I beleive she is looking for a good patch to carry all the time. If you do a search here I know that there are quite a few discussions on the ones people like. I have been wanting to try a pach and have one from Candle Cocoon and one from someone else but haven't put in wax so I can't make any suggestion....sorry.... Candybee
If it helps I have used Fillmore's Patchouli in palm pillar candles and was very pleased. This was a few years back so I don't know if its changed since. But honestly I have been happy with most of their FOs I've tried so far.
ehatch1
I appreciate the help! It's tough to choose scents based on the online description (I don't live close enough to civilization to go to the stores and smell them in person). Candle Cocoon has me very interested as well, especially since I'm on the hunt for a new vanilla; my last bottle of Vanilla Bean from NG smelled horribly wrong. The Vanilla Voodoo sounded quite good...
ehatch1
An update after just one day of curing: the Bulk Apothecary patchouli is improving. The harsh smell that was nauseating is no longer present, and I'm beginning to detect that earthy smell I was looking for. And almost a sweetness as well. If it keeps getting better over the next week or two, I might just be a happy camper! (Still ordered a sample from Fillmore, though - I couldn't resist.)
Trappeur
You mentioned Vanilla Voodoo.....That vanilla is the only one I use. When I found it years ago, I never looked back and tried any others after such a long time search. Totally rich and awesome and with CC oils you use much less oil. ehatch1
That is good to know, Trappeur. I may have to place an order! As if I don't have enough suppliers already, haha oh well. For good scents, it's worth it.
Trappeur
If you do order from CC Hatch, just something for thought.... Sultry Angel ( STRROONNNGGG).....I love it.Definitely cut back on this one Trappeur
moonshine
MW patchouli was awesome and I think it was lebermuthI haven't checked or ordered but you may want to see if fragrance buddy has duped this one as they have many of MW fragrances and the ones they have duped that I still use are spot on and amazingI can't move patchouli so I stopped carrying it so I haven't really looked to see if FB has it or not
ehatch1
Update in case anyone is interested: It's been a week since I poured the Bulk Apothecary patchouli candle, and I have been test burning it today. Hot throw is excellent; it's a four ounce jelly jar candle and the scent fills my entire upstairs! Very impressed. It also has that perfectly earthy smell I wanted. Nothing like the original smell, out of the bottle. Also, after burning, the wax doesn't crystallize like I'm used to with soy; it becomes perfectly creamy again. I am so happy! The only negative is that the dark oil originally discolored the wax yellow, and then the top turned a pinkish brown color after curing (the rest of the candle, that could be seen through the jar, stayed yellow). Kind of weird. Bottom line: still waiting on my shipment from Fillmore so that I can compare patchoulis, but this one has actually turned out to be quite good!

It was from Lebermuth. You know the Chemistry Store sells FOs from Lebermuth. I don't think they have the patchouli but if they did start selling it they sells oils by the lb instead of having to buy in bulk like Lebermuth. I have been wanting to start buying the FOs from The Chemistry Store but so far haven't. But if I do I would ask them to start carrying the Lebermuth Patchouli too. kfintoni
Happy New Year everyone,I have tried the Patch from Lebermuth and it was amazing. I also find it hard to meet the minimum for ordering with them but they will work with you on that. I now use the Patch from Fillmore and have had great feed back on it. I personally cannot stand the stuff and dread making it but since it sells I have to. I think you will be very pleased with the Fillmore FO. I use a ton of them and love them all. Thanks,Karen in MA
Candybee
Yeah... Fillmore's patch is pretty darn good but haven't used it in a while. Been using Peaks in my CP soap then adding patchouli EO to it to bring out its patchouliness. Mostly I use honey patchouli from EBB now instead of straight patchouli. But just about anything with patch in it sells very well for me.
TallTayl
What all does eveyone need from Lebermuth? I need a couple lbs of patchouli FO for candles.Am willing to co-op if we have enough interest.

Candybee
That's a great offer TT. If I hadn't switched to Honey Patchouli I would have taken you up on that offer. But I have to save money and should not be buying FOs I don't use.
ehatch1
I'd be interested to try a pound from Lebermuth. I've never done a co-op before so keep me posted if it ends up working out!

I have been wanting to start buying the FOs from The Chemistry Store but so far haven't. But if I do I would ask them to start carrying the Lebermuth Patchouli too. Did Lebermuth change its quantity that you can't buy by pound now? Or did you mean to meet Lebermuth's minimum purchase amount to avoid small order fees? Candybee
Both. I don't want to buy $300 or pay a $20 fee for not meeting the minimum.
TallTayl
lebermuth is now either out of stock, or disco'ing it it was removed from my cart and not allowing me to click to the details. Ill keep an eye on it though.

ehatch1
Darn, sorry to hear that TT. Someone mentioned early on that he noticed it on sale (which I never did see), but it made me think that it might be discontinued soon. Never looked further into that, though. Someone must have cleared them out of the Patchouli. Edited January 9, 2016 by ChrisR Against board rules to list supplier sales
